Hello

I have a samsung bu8000 (1 year and 7 months old) and the TV already seems like its at its last legs

The motherboard was already replaced during the warranty period due to audio problems now i´m having pink screens through hdmi

It is random and doesn´t follow a pattern

Samsung is charging service for me since it is already out of warranty (1 year )

I´m wondering , are all tvs like this nowadays ? is LG better ?

I don´t really mind refresh rates above 60hz or QLED , OLED displays ( unless they are more durable )

4k , 60 hz is enough for me

Is there a model that somehow lasts more ? thanks

Ah, planned obsolescence at its finest.

I'm personally good with my '16 manufactured Samsung "dumb" TV but I'd just check for some reviews and user experience if I'd get a new TV.

Dont get Samsung displays. Simple enough. They all have issues one way or another even prior to them losing the oled race. Its called desperation. AMOLED was no different either.

pink screen could be a faulty hdmi cable... it will be an easy fix...
back when i was a salesman selling all sorts of tech and from my experience samsung has higher % of being sent back for repair...
panasonic and lg are somewhat tied but then oled came into play and boy... those burn in ... repairs..
sony has the least in coming back for repairs... i myself bought a 60" Sony tv for my mom and its been 10 years and still going... the interface is slow now but other than that...works well

I have the opposite problem. Every TV that I have ever owned in the last 40 years has lasted too long. I usually upgrade when there's nothing wrong with them just to get something new and better. Right now the oldest TV in our house is a 12 year old 40 inch Samsung FHD TV and it's time to give it away because it just won't die.

Weird thing that i don´t use that much the TV that much and it is like this already

Too bad that almost all the TVs have some bad review mentioning the lifetime

do you think lgs could be better ?

funny enough i also have a samsung 1080p that is still alive 10 years of insane usage ( way more than this new one ) and still works fine

do you think that it could be my gpu displaying pink screens maybe ? i play fine on display port through my monitor(1080p 144hz) and play in the tv using 4k 60hz sdr

i´m using a good quality hdmi cable ( 2.0 version ) that matches the hdmi version of the tv and it happens

my cable is 5m long

Could it be my gpu displaying artifacts only through hdmi or my hdmi cable is too long maybe ? too bad i can´t lower the cable lenght ( since it is passed through a wall)

Is there some hdmi cable that doesn´t lose quality over 5 meters ? ( if the cable is the culprit at all , if 5m is too long ?)

thanks

I have 2 32" Samsung LCDs, 720p, over 10 years old still working. I just recently replaced a dead LG 50" 1080P LCD that was 12 years old. I also have a 32" Toshiba CRT that's close to 30 years.

Having had several LGs both LCD and now an OLED tv thats a resounding yes. The Samsung panel inside my Gigabyte monitor right now isnt problem free either, one backlight led on the bottom is brighter. Panasonic also always used to deliver for me but that time has gone. Eizo similarly, great quality.

I've read a ton about how LG LCD's are not as good as Samsung, but their OLED's are better.

If you can afford a G series LG tv they come with a 5 year warranty otherwise it's a lottery with all brands.

You could buy a Hisense budget whatever and it last you 10 years or spend 6k on a Sony and it last you 2 you never really know.

I currently have three samsung TV's, the oldest is ten years old and never had an issue with any of them. The oldest Samsung TV I had was 15 years old when I stopped using it because it's HDMI port version was 1.1 and it had issues with the Rokus.

hmm i see

i thought i did wrong by getting samsung but it seems like all brands are like this really

sucks having to "recycle" these tvs after 2-3 years

i usually prefer the monitor for fps games and stuff ( i mostly play fps ) but playing 4k couch is good as well

too bad tvs nowadays aren´t that reliable

i also have one that is currently working but it is a old 1080p

it is kinda hard going back from these uhd panels to 1080p

I've never had issues with any of my Samsung Tv's either but their support is pretty bad not that LG's or Sony is much better....

My buddy works for a local repair shop that does warranty repairs for all 3 and he say's they are all equally bad to deal with for customers.

Just depends you can have issues with monitors also but they tend to come with longer warranties and tend to be less complicated internally is my guess.

If you look up monitor issues you will find a ton from LG and Samsung with Samsung having a ton of QC issues though so maybe you've just been lucky.

I have an LG down in the basement as well, got another one off newegg for my in laws that lasted about five years but it was cheap as hell. Thing is, unless it's the brands top line those Samsung, LG, Sony, etc., TVs can be built in the same exact chinese factory(s) using the same screens.

my lg is not particularly the best ( it is the barebones 1080p 144hz 24 inches )

it was very cheap as well but it seems very reliable and overall good quality

i´ve never dropped/hit nor the tv or monitor but the monitor is already at 3 years with high daily usage ( i mostly play fps than controller games )

I usually purchase 5 year protection plans so the 5 year warranty on my G2 was appealing... During my recent move to my new house the panel bit the dust likely from the vibration from being loaded on a truck and not properly secured by the moving company, still even though Lg was a pita to deal with they replaced it free of charge.

because there are far more players in the game now then ever before and price is constantly driven down so manufacturing is always cost cutting. It's simply cheaper to buy a new TV than get one fixed. My first Samsung LCD I got around 2002 or 2003. 32" and paid a bargain price (not kidding) of $750 and weighed a decent amount. MY current 55" Samsung weighs less and cost half that amount when I got it six years ago. Now, I'm afraid what I can get for $400 at Costco or BJs because I may end up coming home with it.

I usually purchase 5 year protection plans so the 5 year warranty on my G2 was appealing.
I believe its BJs (maybe Costco) give you an extra year of warranty for free. Figure if anything does go wrong it will be quick and it does fail four years I'll just grab the latest and greatest anyway.
