Any idea what could be causing the low score? I believe it should be in the 7000+ territory. Also red devil 6700xt model.

Overheating, driver settings, background processes... etc. There could be a million different reasons. You haven't given us much info to go by.

Can you monitor the card with GPU-Z or HWinfo, and post a screenshot?

I've just finished two days of BOINC crunching, and I've got my usage at 2 GB. 6+ doesn't seem right.
Dunno though as this is a Nvidia card so does that explain something. Yet now the 2d usage is "only" around 4GB after I installed the newest (560.70) drivers.

I can try later what the 2d memory usage is with 6700 XT with 2x 4K monitors. :)

That score does look extremely poor! Looks more like 6600 XT!

So it was on quiet bios I switched it to OC and got better results (I never knew that would downclock the core that much, it was worrying me)

adding in the hwinfo temps, I have some tpm to use on it since the hotspot got into 94c

Below with Adrenalin @ standard settings:

Superposition_Benchmark_v1.1_6425_1722801561.png

A few minutes later with Adrenalin everything to the max (as far as my card can handle and stay stable):

Superposition_Benchmark_v1.1_6841_1722801213.png

Both runs GPU max 44 C and hotspot max 70 C (yeah, yeah, I know :shadedshu:).
So a score of 6290 compared to my 6425 @ basic settings is indeed a bit on the low side, but as mentioned temps can have quite some impact.

In your description you say 64GB DDR5, but the test result window shows only 32GB. Maybe rerun, but now with only 2 Dimm's installed.

Oh, yeah haha I took it out into a different system just to rule out any weirdness. I gave it a little UV -50mv once I got it cleared up it was that silent bios holding it back.

Hotspot at 94 isn't to be concerned about. It can go as high as 105 on my reference 6750 XT, but I still get 7k points.

Yeah but the RX 6750XT has a little more VRAM speed & bandwidth so logically more points. I do agree that (providing your score with the high hotspot temps is using the same algorithm) the 94 C hotspot is not holding back his GPU much. However I personally don't want to see anything above 80 C :D . Call it PCCSS (pc cooling stress syndrome:roll:), but that's just me :kookoo:.

There is also the thing of 'silicon lottery', maybe he just does not have the best chip, despite it being within the acceptance criteria of AMD, hence the bronze, silver and gold medal metaphor.

@Mazer , you might also want to do some 3DMark benches to check how the GPU is holding out to the competition with the similar chip, rather than only focussing one benchmark.

https://www.3dmark.com/

It might be an eye opener, or at least give an indication where it is lacking performance, if so.

If hotspot is under 100C, it's hella good. Mine hits 97C.

Time Spy Score just below average, so not bad but maybe you can do better, try tweaking settings in Adrenalin.
Also a reasonable stable graph on the GPU Clock Frequency, maybe there is room for improvement/tweaking.

Keep in mind that this PTM 7950 unleashes it's full potential only after a number of phase change cycles, just monitor the temps of your GPU and hotspot.

To give you an idea of what you can do with a RX 6700XT without extreme OC (Adrenalin tweaking only):

That's another one that looks like it may match OC'ed 6600 XT. At least almost looks like a 6700 non-XT!

Heck, I usually don't even let my RX 6750 XT hit 90C! I was nervously watching the Adrenalin overlay, while running Beam NG. drive, when it was in the high-80s. (hotspot) (C)

Has anyone had any rapid degradation with RDNA2 at 90C for hotspot?

Hi guys, i'm new here,

Recently i noticed my XFX Speedster SWFT 309 Radeon RX 6700 XT was reaching all the time 110c on hotspot while gaming since it's summer and temps going generally crazy.
After searching i found a post from the AMD community
indicating the same issue and the author had incorrect pad size from factory and he changed it alongside with thermal paste and the results are crazy.
I bought my card september last year .
After a chat with XFX i asked them if i'm allowed to open the card and destroying the warranty sticker (even if this sticker is illegal) and they told me that if i open the card my warranty continues but it may vary since the shop i bought it may refuse it and i had to send it directly to hong kong and sending it back to europe with a lot of post fees.
Anyway....
My 6700 XT was overheating as well like hell, even with stock clocks and settings but even with custom fan curve core temps was reaching a whopping 71c and hot spot was always 110c throttling my core clocks always.
My room temperature may be kinda hot since i live in a warm country and summer here can reach 40c in hot days so the room temperature sits avg 30c,
i said fck it,
disassembled the card, found that the paste was in a very good condition and still new (wet AF), BUT after replacing it with mx-4, without touching the pads (it had correct thickness and nothing to compare like the photos, so that was not the issue) the core temps dropped to 64c (from 71c) and hot spot never goes over 85c (from +110c), a 7c drop on core and more than 25c on hot spot.
The fans spins lower than before, the core clocks boost now even higher giving a bit more fps and the longevity of the hard has been increased.
I don't know why a respected company as xfx use this kind of ghetto cheap thermal paste, but i find this unacceptable.

I believe such high hotspot temps are not normal and must be investigated and i like to encourage anyone who has this kind of issues to resolve it by cleaning the card and change the crappy thermal paste manufacturers put on 200w cards, maybe the pads aswell

Sorry for long post :p

It may be possible that the thermal paste was OK, but the mounting pressure wasn't. With that said, be careful with the MX-4. It may give you amazing results now, but as it goes through several heat cycles, it could pump out from between the GPU and the cooler, resulting in your problem coming back. I'm not saying that it will, just that it could. ;)

Also, a 71 °C GPU temp is really good, the problem is the delta between it and the hotspot, which really shouldn't hit 110. My reference 6750 XT does 102-105 on the hotspot with 85 °C GPU temp.

I'm glad you got the issue sorted. Just watch out for that pump-out. :)

The mounting pressure was fine and when i opened it the paste layer was very thin with all the excess paste on the side. I still believe it's just crappy paste by bulk usage.
I'm using the mx-4 for years now without any issue, although i monitor my temps all the time specially at summer.
Before arctic i used thermal grizzly kryonaut which have superb conductivity but will dry up pretty fast compared with the mx-4.
I like to maintain my custom watercooling and gpu as well by changing the paste once a year so it wont have time to dry up
I agree the 71c is good enough but yeah, the delta with the 39c hotspot was abnormal.

My reference 6750 XT does 102-105 on the hotspot with 85 °C GPU temp.
Still doesn't look good! Especially if at stock! I'm still wondering if there is anybody that had suspected rapid degradation.

I'm seeing much better temperatures with the repaste using PTM 7950, some of the pads looked a little torn I was freaking out if it would effect anything major but I was able to fix them back to normal. Also no thanks to any reviewer taking measurements of those pads, I couldn't tell the sizes since I don't have a set of calipers on hand. I did see 1.5mm and 2.5 or something odd but wasn't going to take any chances in damaging the card. Did a run in metro exodus and in superposition It's looking better imo.

Alright, so that memory usage thing is without a doubt a Nvidia thing. Posting now with 6700 XT rig with 2x 4K screens, ~1.5GB VRAM usage.

It's a reference AMD card, and it's been like this from day one, so I think it's pretty normal. It shows no sign of degradation, still boosts above 2600 MHz.

Well, the driver-timeout error messages and/or Windows fatal hardware error messages, will decide the fate of said GPUs!

Same if PC starts crashing with no error report and have to hold down the power button.

Also, a 71 °C GPU temp is really good, the problem is the delta between it and the hotspot, which really shouldn't hit 110. My reference 6750 XT does 102-105 on the hotspot with 85 °C GPU temp.
Agree here. With my crappy stock heatsink on my Powercolor 6700 XT Fighter, the delta is insane.

I don't have any of those. Everything suggests that the card runs at a high temperature by design. Even in 3DMark stability tests, I get over 99%.

You might consider a swamp cooler and dehumidifier for the room
