New tech isn't always better.

When I compare it with the people I know, I frequently see that electronic devices have a very short life with other people because they may not be as careful with them.
But in my case ( >95% of the time ) it's just a matter of how qualitative the electronic device is that determines its lifespan.

Pretty much all the 'quality electronic products' I have from when I was a kid still work. The first PlayStation, first Xbox, GameBoy still work after very many years of intensive use.
Of the desktop computers I have built for myself or other people, I have never heard of a component suddenly not working.

The Grundig portable CD player I mentioned earlier is about 23 years old and shows no sign yet that it will suddenly stop working perfectly in the next five years.
I also have a Sony DSC-H55 camera which is almost 14 years old and I have used it fairly frequently.
I think I can keep using it until I die because the photo's right now are the same quality as in 2010.

I could use most hardware endlessly without ever replacing it. Things that have a battery I could probably continue to use if the battery is replaceable.
I have this not only with electronic products but with all my stuff that I don't really see a point in buying something new because the things I have are satisfactory.

I also think a capitalist system would never be possible if people were equally caring about the electronic devices they buy.
Maybe my lifestyle is incompatible with the current European/American economic system.

Done nothing hardware wise but I tested my OEM SK Hynix CJR RAM and overclock it to DDR4-4000 to give 2000MHz FCLK. The timings sucks but at least it managed to knock off about a couple of ns of memory latency and about 3-4GB more memory bandwidth. Still on 1T and GDM disabled. I didn't use the iGPU idk if I should've used my 3600 instead of this. But I really appreciate no CCX intercore latency issue here during gaming. Some of the stutter is gone.

Heh, I have a DSC-W80. Just should get a new battery as its still having the original one which isn't great after all these years.

removed the XSPC opaque coolant, so far the best i used outside of distilled water+biocide, even after 2y no bio growth/gunk/corrosion, but i still have an older pic showing it.

but fun aside, did you make sure all air is out of the blocks/rads? e.g. you filled it without the rad mounted to the top already?

lol, while quite "restrictive" compared to 1/2in ID tubing, but i dont care for valves/shut offs, and this way i can mess with cpu/gpu.

Yeah, I use 12/16mm hardtubing these days. Though I went back to air for a while as I need more gear to get a loop which pleases my eyes.

how do you bend those?
everything i've seen so far, uses oil as lubricant to insert the tubes into a "flexible" one prior to bending, and i dont care for the mess
while working with it, nor the cleaning prior assembly.

still cant understand how +95% of ppl cant cover any "openings" not occupied by I/O/fans etc, as you will impede/affect airflow, worst case draw in warm air.

It's all even quite aesthetically pleasing with matching "blackout" theme or having spices like damn Noctua cable sticker nicely matching GPU design... The only thing I don't like is tied excess of AiO cables. I always put such into other side and there tie somehow to freeze whole in position looking well on visible side. Cables first go out and then needed length allowing them be plugged comes back.

Heh, I have a DSC-W80. Just should get a new battery as its still having the original one which isn't great after all these years.

The Sony DSC-H55 has a G TYPE NP-BG1 battery. 3.6V 910 mAh typ. 3,4Wh min 3,3Wh
This is the only rechargeable battery I've seen last around 14 years without seeing much degradation in performance.
Suppose I take around 50 photos per day, then the device can be used for a minimum of 7 days.

It also has 14.1 MEGA PIXELS and I think this is about the point where much higher values give only minimal visual improvements.
Tests have shown that some 28 MEGA PIXEL smartphones from Sony can take sharper photos than Samsung smartphones rated at >100 MEGA PIXELS.

My sister does photography as a supplement to her main profession to earn extra money and because she loves doing it.
She also has a good Sony camera that is several times more expensive than my Sony DSC-H55.
If I make the comparison I would say that her photos are usually sharper and have more detail.
However, on the other hand, I think that my own photos have better colors that are more beautiful in my eyes. I believe the colors are the most important.

If I compare my own photo collection with the photo collections of the best photographers in the world, then I like my photos that I made with the Sony DSC-H55 much more.
Somehow there is a simple logic to this since other people like other things that I might not like as much.
But I think that these photos I took with my Sony DSC-H55 have more beauty than the photos of the most popular photographers in the world.

I also have to tell you that I haven't read a single book about photography and that I've never read the manual of this Sony camera.

Warm them up with hot air gun. PETG doesn't need that much temperature to become flexible

Warm them up with hot air gun. PETG doesn't need that much temperature to become flexible

Just make sure you use a rubber/silicon insert. While PETG is easier than glass it deforms rather quickly.
