I had a couple of double figured Zander out of the River Severn a few years back when I almost exclusively fished Rivers on spinners as small as those, Zander unlike Pike tend to be a bit more picky with bigger lures.

Probably because their mouths tend to be a bit smaller than a pike Many a Zander have been pulled out of the Severn though. There have been a few stories of a Wells Catfish being pulled from the Severn as well. One a 94lb and im not sure what the other one was.

Zander havent spread to these parts in huge numbers just yet as far as i know. Ive heard of a small one being pulled out of St Kathrine's dock/Canary Wharf area of the canal maybe last year. But the problem with fishing those areas are the security guards.... The C&RT states people can fish around there but the stretch of canal often runs through or alongside private property or residential areas and most lure anglers get kicked out of the area before long.... That is one of the many things I hate about the C&RT.

In many parts of the USA (if not all of them) its actually illegal to harass someone when they are fishing. I wish we had that for the UK.

If youre out fishing for perch. There isnt a reason why you couldnt pick up a Zander if they are present in the area. they'll take the same 5-7cm rubber/plastic shads.

One of my mates goes fishing. They had problems with i think polish, or some other europeans, people not throwing the fish back, some had the impression you could take them to eat when you caught them, he said some places will only allow english anglers there now( rightly or wrongly, but up to them i guess ) as they can't or won't follow the rules.

I don't know much about fishing, but I can tell you that in Eastern Europe, throwing the fish back is not a thing. Over there, people get a licence and go fishing for fish, not because they feel like hurting some aquatic animals with a sharp hook is fun (quite barbaric if you think about it, but that's another topic). So I assume that those Polish lads weren't trying to be a-holes on purpose, it's probably just a cultural thing.

Almost fell for a scam/spam from a fake Evri text message, clicked on a "link" only for them to ask for some details.
Luckily I checked with my partner if she ordered anything and used my number and she said no so I didn't enter anything.
Tried their "tracking" number or whatever on the official evri site and it didn't work, the other giveaway was the link they provided in a text was "evri-serve".
Just a sad sorry state we live in we have to be careful with scams as a whole.

I think for the Polish Carp is a delicacy, I hear that some eat them on Christmas day over there but considering what a fishery would pay for a 20Lb stock carp for their lake (approx £600 per 20 pound carp), I can understand why fisheries may get a tad upset.

Sadly this isnt just limited to private fisheries. lots of Eastern Euros fish rivers/canals and take home what they catch. Law enforcement, C&RT, Environmental Agency has not really adapted or reacted much to whats happened or been happening for at least two decades. Years ago we would have bailiffs that would regularly patrol up and down rivers and canals to make sure that anglers paid for their day tickets, had whatever permits that they needed to fish as well as making sure that no illegal poaching or theft of fish was going on.

At least this is how it is in my neck of the woods. Fishing is a lot better up north, east, further south and west. London is just London shall we say.
