Hope you are all doing well. I have a question here about using E & P cores in 12th+ Intel CPUs (maybe it is also in AMD / ARM E & P cores): how do you disable the going into E mode & not using E cores?

As you can see, my BOINC when minimized is not using E cores, only P cores. How does somebody control this "green feature" in CPUs? To answer already, I have tired already to use

Picture:

So if BOINC is minimized, all E cores do not work. How did anyone of you fix that with BOINC?

Also, system is Windows 11. BOINC is v8.0.2 x64.

I would think it's in the Bionic settings. The E cores are designed for low workload tasks like Windows background stuff. It's dong exactly that.

OK, which BOINC setup? & how to set it up?

Yes, but that won't do...as I would like to run on all cores & all threads.
Why?
Well, I am running BOINC, so this gets rewards (pins) only for spent time on the project. So I need to run all 4 E-cores & all 16 threads on P-cores.

Shifting only to P-core or E-core will not do the trick.

Go to task manager and set priority from low to normal and it should use all the e-cores too.

No, no...when minimized app, then it only uses 4-cores, the E-cores.

Also, I have managed to make it work, but you need to put BOINC always open on you screen. Like this:

So it is always active app, but it is minimized on desktop. So I use it this way, but actively searching for another option - as this is only "a workaround".

So what you are actually asking is how to get BOINC to use all cores? While allowing it to be minimized so you don’t need to keep it collapsed?

I'm not sure I understand what you want...

I believe you want to use all P and E cores when your app is minimized.
It sounds like thread director is working as intended. It runs minimized apps on E cores by design. It's giving priority to the foreground programs. When you minimize BOINC you're telling windows that you have other more important things to do in the foreground. As you found out, you can just not minimize the app if it's your priority.

Alternatively, if you're up to it, you can use the powercfg command and modify the background profile to use all cores so app will run the same even if minimized. You can google it and find some guides.
Good luck!

Did a little search, found out something - but not enough. Does anyone know more about specific CPU settings in Win11 registry? Here is the address:

Need help how to configure to use all cores all the time, not to go to efficiency mode...

i think you will fuck up your os in the long run and are much too quick to say process lasso cannot do this or that but you want to do registry tweaks that all can be done trough their software
i know it´s mostly for disable e cores but if it would be so easy these guys would offer it in their software - maybe just ask them !

read here :

and cpu sets:

from bitsum:
. An Efficiency Mode OFF rule continuously keeps all of a process’s threads from being automatically relegated to the E-cores.

i am out
