It's been proven it works. It's been shown it works. Quit spreading misinformation just because you don't want to either make it work or have the IMC/die quality to have it work. You already contradicted yourself and aren't making anything better.

Man we are going in circles with people not knowing the difference between single ranks and dual rank memory.

4x Single-rank 6000 : 1 - Yes
4x dual-rank 6000 : 1 - probably not
4x dual-rank 6000 : 2 - yes, but perf is horrible

Officially AMD supports this at DDR5-3600. Anything else is a overclock and NOT guaranteed. May the IMC god be with you!

Afaik all (or most) 16GB DDR5 sticks are single rank. I'm almost certain you're using single-rank sticks.

He may be talking about Samsung's M321R4GA0PB0-CWM (registered) and Patriot's PSD532G56002.

Sounds unlikely, since 32Gb Samsung DDR5 ICs were only announced in Sept. '23.

They could theoretically be x4 single-rank modules, but typically those only exist as RDIMMs.

Ah, RDIMMs are possible, but I don't think they're relevant in this context.

Pretty much, unbuffered and registered DDR DIMMs are NOT physically interchangeable.

Even mine requires voltage tweaks to be stable, so its possible you just have a worse board/cpu sample.

Maybe I bought them later, either that or thaiphoon burner is lying.

Taiphoon burner is heavily outdated, afaik, and should not be trusted.

I'm pretty sure your sticks are dual rank.

They look like F5-5600J3636D32GX2-FX5, which are dual-rank according to G.Skill's own EXPO self-certification report.

G.Skill lets you download those reports directly from their product page nowadays. Too bad, that you were unlucky and got the Samsung instead of the Hynix variant of these sticks.

It's hugely different from 16 to 32.

The techs in my shop have done it a few times. One of them said they needed to down-clock the memory to 5600 speeds but the other stated that there were no issues. So perhaps it depends on the RAM kits, the BIOS/AGESA revision and motherboard.

I'm going to try it myself sometime soon. I highly suspect there's more to this then just "it doesn't work".

The difference was 600 MT/s for me when last tested 4x 32GB; 5600MT/s compared to the 6200 MT/s the CPU does on 2x 32GB. And before you ask, both kits were purchased at the same time, same Kingston batch number, the serial numbers are only a few digits apart. Quad-rank was even run as one kit per channel, instead of the more common interleaved way of populating the banks.

Fair enough. As stated above, that seems to echo the experience one of my techs had, yet others have no had any troubles. So it might be your particular setup.

It's more board and IMC luck. I have 2x32 running at 6200 with my current spec list. Full 3100 MCLK/ 2066 FCLK and all that. Dual rank of course.
