I’m going to buy an RX 570 4GB MSI Armor graphics card. Please advise me on what I should look out for to know if it has been used for mining or not. Also, how can I check if it’s running with its original BIOS? Thanks.
I uploaded some photos that I got from the seller, maybe it helps.

you need to ask the seller to put into a computer get it up and running and then install gpu-z and screenshot it and it should tell you which bios it has..
on another note.. the rx570 4gb is very old and 4gb vram will struggle hard... mind if i ask how much do you have to spend? and which country are you in? maybe the others can pinpoint a better gpu for you

According to my budget and being from Egypt, this is the best choice for me, especially since its price is very affordable. Additionally, I don't play heavy games, nor do I spend most of my day gaming.
About GPU-Z, What should I look out for to know that? And what should I match it with?

in gpu-z there should be a bios version after you got that match it up with the right gpu bios

looks like yours is MSI ARMOR OC model...

yours is a bit tricky since the back sticker has been peeled off otherwise it would be easier..
after you have got the bios from gpu-z and it doesn't match any of the ones in the database that means the gpu is most likely used for mining
and i would advise you to not purchase it

Hello.
If your seller agree, please upload the BIOS file using the GPUz button to save it and attach it here.
I will open the BIOS to check for signs if that was edited for mining purposes.

The seller can provide any picture you want.
As long as he gets his money.
After that will be your trouble. "If you don't open your eyes you open your wallet", it is an old saying from my country.
So based on the pictures you don't buy a card.
That card must be tested by you in your computer.

Do not buy a RX 570.

EoL and on non mainline branch drivers.

Since he mentioned already his location and the fact he does not have too many options, i wouldn't advice not to buy it, unless he can't test it.
I still have around 40 RX580.
Trust me, they are solid cards for a desktop computer.
Not every1 have money to spend on newer cards.

Nothing below a 6600/2060 is worth buying this late into 2024.

MSi Armor cards are notorious for their mediocre quality so I'd rather not.

And yes, buying an RX 500 series GPU now is a dead end. Something along the lines of GTX 1660 Super is a far better option. RX 6600 if you don't like nVidia for whatever reason.

Even 1660 super doesn't support DLSS so I wouldn't buy it. FSR is a joke, and 6600 is better choice if the alternative is a pre RTX card. Good upscaling is borderline essential for weak or low and cards.

It, at least, runs XeSS fast enough. 1.3.1 is much better than FSR already. But yeah, RTX 3060-12 or something like that (if affordable) is a no-brainer here.

If you don't have anything helpful to add, why bother replying? You always gets in on these kinds of threads with your Western Middle Class viewpoint, and all it does is mucking things up. "I have these options", and your response will always be "none just save up" and ... it's not providing value whatsoever. If anything the OP is doing as well as he can, seeing as how he's asking questions before buying and not after. And you're like "don't bother".

Yes because it's good advice.

I'm not going to, in good conscience, tell someone to buy a ten year old, EoL, likely mined on GPU just because that's what they want to hear.

Middle class? Lmao

it's not providing value whatsoever.
The value is here, you just don't wanna see it. A person buying a newer and more feature rich piece of hardware will be happier and is likely to use this piece for a longer time, thus potentially spending no more in a long term. With an RX 570 you can definitely launch latest games but with something like RX 6600 you can even enjoy them at ~60 FPS at far from garbage quality settings. Of course median salary in Egypt is as low as two and a half Benjies but if OP can get more they should get more. Not like spending 150 dollars instead of 60 will completely annihilate their wallet.

If they're willing to settle then it's up to them but even running all kinda games, benchmarks, stress tests and deshrouding the GPU for examination purposes doesn't guarantee very long and happy usage. Possible but not for this zombie that lived through two major mining booms.

Message/Ask the seller if he has used it for mining. If he says 'no' - then dont buy it.
Funny, but probably actually a good way to know, "no" is almost certainly a lie.

Hello.
If your seller agree, please upload the BIOS file using the GPUz button to save it and attach it here.
I will open the BIOS to check for signs if that was edited for mining purposes.
He sent it to me along with some other media from the card's test on FurMark.
I want to know if it's good and has no issues. Also, how can I make sure that when I go to pick it up from the shop, these images aren't fake? Of course, I will test the card on FurMark again when I'm there and compare it with the image, but what about GPU-Z and that file ".rom"?

This BIOS is weird. Clocks look like it has a mining BIOS. Ask the seller to flash the original BIOS file.

It is, memory clocks are too high for a RX 570 card in the first GPU-Z screenshot. Memory clock is by default 1750 MHz and not 2100 MHz. Also the brand is Sapphire instead of MSI

Rom file seems to be corrupted and manually edited. Its looks to be based on this bios:

@Octavious
All the GPU-Z screenshots are not from a MSI RX 570 4GB. Rom file which you have uploaded isn't from the correct card.
Enough signals not to buy the card from that seller.

If you don't have the money, you save until you do.

Nothing below a 6600/2060 is worth buying this late into 2024.
Can you get those for $50?

He is also advertising this card uploaded below alongside the one I intend to buy. Is it possible that he took the .rom file from it and was too lazy to swap the two cards to do so? Could that be what happened, or is the modified BIOS not even good with ASUS?

EDIT: I spoke with him, and he said he was confused, but he actually got it from ASUS, the one I uploaded its picture here. So, I asked him about it, and he said that on FurMark it reaches 68°C after 15 minutes and is about $5 more expensive than the MSI Armor. Could it be better? In 15 minutes, he will send me a screenshot from FurMark for the ASUS, and tomorrow he will send the .rom file from the MSI Armor.

Edit II: Considering this test on FurMark and the .rom file I sent before, is this card good?

impossible, RTX 2060 is like 150$ here.

Save up your money, don’t buy the rx570 either way it’s not good news. The gpu is old and also there are many indicators that it’s been used for mining. Most of us here are pc gamers and we just want another fellow (aka you) to have a better time for gaming.

It's good you thought to ask here and followed through with solid advice on what to approach the seller with. Small amounts of money not thrown away are still perfectly good money in hand.

Keep looking and keep wary!

Burnt ram chips is 1 sign, also a bios screenshot using gpu-z and a picture of the part number to verify, any discoloration or wetness on the pcb is another

Wait a sec if that gpu was truly loaded it should operate at 1284/1286 MHz not 657MHz, the ram speed is about typical. Also that Black with Red flame pattern RX 570 Card is the Arez Expedition, which was the result of ngreedia geforce partner program scam which got focused on for anti competitive practice, if anything that Arez is like an Asus Dual/Mining edition RX 570, bottom rung, so honestly you aren't getting anything better than the MSI mech unless if you can find a Sapphire Pulse, HIS ICEQ/Visiontek OCPC, XFX, Powercolor

Typical arrogance he exhibits
