Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered: Speculation, Assumptions?

That's a helluva business model, charge twice for essentially the same product lol.

Obviously it works for Sony who I kind of feel have lost their way a bit after a pretty successful PS4 era. This has definitely been their weakest generations games wise.

Honestly the visual fidelity of both games is great. I’m not sure what a remake would really bring to the table. I have to lol at the neck beards so mad about the character model though. Reminds me of the tomb raider uproar.

plz make it more playable by the lil girl like from start missions. Otherwise, another boring game yada yada yada

I read a tech piece questioning the merits of any such release, but the author then stated exactly what you just said. They'd probably buy it anyway.

It's a shameless cash grab.

Cannot blame SONY for stupid people.

There was a fighting Game back in the day called that that was the same thing.

But the boob physics engine demonstrator was the Volleyball game already in 2003.... so... a bit late to be surprised about this.

Pretty sad when Guerrilla games have Killzone franchise which they could reboot or remake the 1st game.
As we are in a "remake" era of games, it is pretty pathetic of Sony isn't tapping into their other catalogue of games like Bloodborne, Legend of dragoon, Gravity rush, Ico/Shadow of colossus/Last guardian etc etc.

shadow of the colossus could have a good sequel, imagine if the colossus you encounter are small ones and there are bigger titans out there

A deep story regarding the Colossus would be interesting yeah, afterall there wasn't much lore that explained where these Colossus come from and why the evil dark spirit wanted them killed in the first place.
But yeah I feel like if Sony got Guerilla games to reboot Killzone that would be another blow to Microsoft since Halo is on its last leg.
Bungie with their new IP after Destiny 2 doesn't sound too promising either.

i saw there is a new uncharted game on its way... no rest for Nathan drake...

Good point. But then again, there was Concord...

HAHA, SONY trying to find away in to the multiplayer\live scene, SONY do single player games well and it ends there.

Testing if thier shit sticks.

That's a good point. Their SP stuff is usually well done. Days Gone sticks in my mind for that. Horizon ZD, too.

Will be curious to see if this remaster shows up on GOG for day of or as a briefly staggered (re)release.

Hopefully it's a patch or a 10 usd at most upgrade.

If Aloy was a supermodel.... lmao smh.
Fan Boys: We want an accurate representation of what a female warrior should look like.

Developer - this?

Pretty much. Although I'd argue they should at least make the characters appealing enough for people to want to cosplay them.

Keep in mind onlyfans creators made 6.6 billion last year lmao so there is a market for skin.

I'm ok with whatever a developer chooses to do though if I find a character unappealing enough to not buy the game I just won't not every game is made for me and that's ok.

I'd take 1980s Mia Sara lol.

I agree and honestly they are pushing it too far I honestly think sales would be slightly better if they did a better job of straddling a middle ground.

Let's be real none of these games are very realistic to begin with it doesn't need a realistic protagonist at the same time we don't need to go back to chain mail bikinis either.... Unless it's dlc lmao.
What irks me most about these manipulations, is that apparently, women need to be manipulated one way or another before they are perceived to look good/acceptable. It starts with the simple idea of make up. What do you have to hide? There are so many real people that don't need any of it and look perfectly fine.

That, at its very core is what bothers me so much about all the recent drama on these kinds of subjects. People fight for personal freedoms, but they achieve the polar opposite, because internet (or: public exposure). Its a complete paradox. And it all detracts from the game / subjects its really about - whichever way the dice roll, really.

Surprising choice. It doesn't feel that old so I had a "wait, what!?" moment when someone pointed out the game was seven years old, but to be fair, I am in the PC ecosystem and not the PlayStation ecosystem so it's not quite that old here (it released on PC four years ago).

It used to be that after five years, a game would be in a previous console generation, and since hardware uplifts were so big before, some sort of re-release would almost always have some merit by that point. Go look at Resident Evil on the PlayStation or Saturn. and then look at the remake on the Gamecube. They were worlds apart, even if it was still fundamentally just a "3D models on a 2D backdrop" game in both cases, which you'd think even the former could have handled well enough, but even then there was massive improvement (which just highlights in my mind why that era of games is most justified for remakes today, if they were already justified for it in 2000 to 2005).

Compare Resident Evil to something like, say, the recent Dead Space remake. That was a fifteen year gap, and while I think that one was justified (though I was skeptical at first), it took much longer for it to reach the point that it was justified.

I feel like anything within the last decade, and maybe that is growing to the last decade and a half now, barely qualifies for a re-release. Tech improvements (usually) aren't growing fast enough to justify it.

I get the impression that half the time though, this precise reason they are done is solely to bolster the game lineup for a new console generation (or a mid-console generation refresh), and I think that's whats going on here.

I need this.

Although, now I'm having flashbacks of trying to press X at the right time for Dart's attack and failing most of the time. I have no idea why but I was awful at timing that, whereas I had far less trouble timing it in Final Fantasy VIII with Squall's gunblade.

Only going to get worse as more and more studios adopt off the shelf game engines:

New build adds features.
Devs flip a couple switches.
Bean counters say "oh you can't push that out as a free upgrade"

They should have waited a few more years to do a remaster and then a few years later a complete remake. It works. Just ask COD MW.
