Oh no, I'm sick of potatoes already! However, the way they speak English rocks. Southern Russia is warmer than Ireland though.

An 8K version of the LG G3 OLED in 55 and 65 inch. It won't get better than that until we have sensorial simulation in a direct brain interface lol.

I am aware of the Z series, but LG only manufactures the Z in 77 and larger afaik. Way too big by that point.

Its not hard, this dream monitor.

1. A high enough PPI at typical viewing distance to not require AA at native res.
2. Perfect grayscale balance, low (<2,5) DeltaE and infinite contrast, a combination most OLEDs don't meet
3. ~1ms G2G, <4ms response time
4. Variable sync
5. PIP modes
6. The usual palette of tweakable options you would find in any half decent monitor.
7. Tweakable BFI / strobe & variable strobe to fit variable sync rate.
8. Resolution, whatever is hot atm.
9. Sensible diagonals (not this >40" bullshit).
10. A decent set of inputs for various cables, supporting last- current and cutting edge gen.

All we need now is a technology that can check these boxes Especially the combination of 1,2,3,4 and 7. I forgot refresh rate, but I feel 120hz is sensible and would already be 'dreamy' enough for me, but the sky's the limit as long as we don't nuke any of the above 10 needs in my book

I mean when I game in OLED, its as if the angels of heaven have appeared -

that should be the goal of societies, give every citizen OLED entertainment: phones, monitors, tv's, ultrawide, everything must become OLED!!!!


I think its a glorious plan personally

Its not hard, this dream monitor.

I agree with the PIP mode, I saw an OLED ultrawide doing this recently, gaming while watching YouTube video on overlay through the monitor settings... was pretty epic. I could def see this coming in hand for like doing mods, or lost somewhere and need a guide, instead of having to alt tab back and forth trying to figure out a puzzle guide, etc

Loving the fact that the cheaper MSI 32" 4k OLED is now cheaper in Australia than it's counterpart (despite the $350 usd delta they were the same price here initially)

Now it's cheaper than the alienware here (1759 aud vs 1889 - I was legitimately expecting to have to shell out 2200 later this year)

Here's to hoping the pricing heats up a little.

I'd go a wee more ambitious and ask for 15K (human eye can't tell even bigger resolutions apart) at such a diagonal. Heck, we're dreaming, why not?

A dream would be no monitor at all, just a direct connection to my visual cortex. Plus a direct connection to the auditory cortex for perfect sound reproduction.
Come to think of it, why waste time using the squishy biological goo, just transfer my consciousness into the computer.

That's the dream, but for me a reasonably high refresh rate (i.e. 120Hz) microLED around 32" would be the only screen I ever want. Which means it will never exist because planned obsolescence is the cornerstone of modern economy and OLED fits into it perfectly.

I have since changed my mind, basically my dream monitor is anything that has Corning Glass, not matte, not semi-glossy, not glossy. Just glass. It improves the contrast, sharpness, brightness (yes this is true, I have seen measurements of before and after the Corning Glass was put on), colors pop more, and reflections are even handled better than matte, because Corning has new innovative glass.

Sadly, the only company to offer Corning Glass monitors is Dough, I want one really bad... but I am going to wait and hope another company eventually starts to use Corning Glass. If no other takers, then I will eventually get the Dough in a year or two. Once you seen Corning Glass monitor in person though, you won't ever want anything else, it's just next level.

I work three jobs now, so it's not a money issue. It's more an issue of I don't really trust Dough as a company yet with their spotty history. However, they are so far the only option with Corning Glass direct on the panel, so my plan is to be patient for another 6-12 months, if no one else steps up to the plate and uses actual glass, I will indeed be buying a Dough.

Also, I have no problem donating plasma, but there are no places to do so near where I live. I want to donate actually to support Ironmouse.

You can do it yourself.

Step 0: choose a display that suits you and is proved to have a removable matte/semi-glossy/glossy film.
Step 0.1: accept the fact you are alone in the dark... regarding your warranty rights.
Step 1: buy it. Also buy a gorilla glass panel of required size.
Step 2: remove the film.
Step 3: install the glass.
Step 4: enjoy your completely unique monitor.

NB: removing the film is a delicate and risky operation. You might kill the display in the process!

I'm not risking that, also Dough doesn't remove the matte film, but for some reason the glass and pressure negates it, but I would like to see a direct to contact glass, that does not exist yet for any OLED to my knowledge, except for LG C series, which is probably why those look so damn good, but they aren't using Corning Glass, just regular glass to my knowledge.

In early 2000s I had a nice glass monitor. But it was like 12:10 and low res so it would be rubbish by todays standards.

FYI, I did have an imported South Korean 1440p QNIX monitor from like 2013 or 2012, and it had an actual glass panel on it. I do specifically remember it increasing the contrast/sharpness/color pop of the IPS panel side by side with the same monitor that was matte (I imported like 4 in total, cause they were the first overclockable monitors ever made and I just love that kind of niche crap)

So, yes there is some 100% truth to glass being better, but Corning Glass is way better than that other glass...so yeah... really eager for this to be the future. Matte does a worse job at handling reflections than the new Corning Glass too.

Basically yeah. People say burn-in isn't a problem, but monitors last a long time (they should, anyway). At work I use a 27" 1080p monitor that is on most of the time, and after 11 years it's still very fine, until OLEDs can do that without burn-in I'm not interested.

I threw in the towel and picked up an open box 42" C3 at Best Buy last week; $625 and less than 200 hours on panel. It has some scratches on the VESA mount but I'll never see them. Will run it till burn-in gets obvious and then put on a sim rig. Hopefully by then some of our dreams have been realized.

My 42" LG C3 OLED's 120Hz is plenty good enough for me. I should say I was looking for an all purpose display that can handle games, net, movies, and streaming equally well. It's the best all rounder display I've ever owned by far, and the $900 price I got it for on a holiday sale made it a no brainer. On top of that it's upscaling is far better then I thought it would be. The only thing it struggles with is 480p content, but I don't typically bother with anything that low res. As far as durability goes, I was also surprised LG estimates an 11 yr lifepspan, which is conservatively based on 10 hrs use per day. At first I was struggling to stay under 10 hrs use per day, after all, every boy wants to play with his new toy. I have found though if I just do most of my morning net sessions on my laptop, I can easily stay under 10hrs (@ just under 10 months of use, I'm a bit under 9 hrs per day).

I dunno. I’ve sat through that review and it sounds like sake oil. Not removing (or de-mattëing) the coating seems like a big no to me, boosting the brightnee seems implausible to me, though it would depend on how it’s measured. (It’s to be expected that matte coatings would scatter the light a bit.)
