I really like this inspiration and conditional speaking. We will live and see if it will be accepted outside the circle of enthusiasts.

Yeah, this sounds like a really useful thing for residential energy storage. Having these widely deployed could likely lessen long-term strain on the grid and improve availability - I wouldn't have minded having one of these today. Spent all day without electricity. Most of our food will probably spoil. No good.

TDK successfully developed a material for solid-state batteries with 100-times higher energy density.

TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) successfully developed a material for CeraCharge, a next-generation solid-state battery with an energy density of 1,000 Wh/L, approximately 100 times greater than the energy density of TDK’s conventional solid-state battery.

TDK’s technology is aimed at a solution that can be utilized in various wearable devices, such as wireless earphones, hearing aids and even smartwatches, with the goal of replacing existing coin cell batteries.

Oh no! I can not stop laughing. By throwing these hyperbolized numbers for a increased feature of something into the public domain. I wonder if scams of this type are not prosecuted?

samsung has working prototypes and can make solid state batteries in any size now. they have 40 patents. interesting times incoming, i wonder how long before we start seeing solid state battery products.

The main problem is manufacturing them at a reasonable cost I think.

We can make them but they're way too expensive to be commercially viable.

"Samsung aims to begin mass production in the first half of 2026, with plans to introduce this technology in its wearables, such as the Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Watch, and Galaxy Buds."

that's from the article, so we will see if it ends up holding true or not. i know toyota said their solid state battery car was due to start in 2028 or something, i think we will def see some products on store shelves by end of decade, possibly sooner. so that is still neat imo

My phone appears to have a solid state battery already, although CPU-Z says it's Li-ion, so I'm not sure.

Well, putting large amount of products on the market, takes time...for designing, sourcing, logistical transporting, producing, logistical transporting & then selling. ;)
