Yeah, this sounds like a really useful thing for residential energy storage. Having these widely deployed could likely lessen long-term strain on the grid and improve availability - I wouldn't have minded having one of these today. Spent all day without electricity. Most of our food will probably spoil. No good.

samsung has working prototypes and can make solid state batteries in any size now. they have 40 patents. interesting times incoming, i wonder how long before we start seeing solid state battery products.

The main problem is manufacturing them at a reasonable cost I think.

We can make them but they're way too expensive to be commercially viable.

that's from the article, so we will see if it ends up holding true or not. i know toyota said their solid state battery car was due to start in 2028 or something, i think we will def see some products on store shelves by end of decade, possibly sooner. so that is still neat imo

Everything is years out. This is how we know its not real yet. By the time anything hits the market current DBE will be matured making it maybe moot.

Well, putting large amount of products on the market, takes time...for designing, sourcing, logistical transporting, producing, logistical transporting & then selling.
