I work on these kinds of systems frequently. Hodge-podging a bunch of wires around can work, but can be messy and even get janky. If I were hands-on with the system, a splitter cable might work and I might try it. But not over the internet and not for a user that many not be experienced with cable jankery. The PSU is the other main limitation. It's 320W 12V. HP's way of doing the 12V standard is itself a bit janky, though still within spec.How about Molex? Or a SATA splitter?
So again, whatever card the OP gets needs to be PCIe slot powered. Let's keep things simple for them.
