Intel can "confirm" all they want. I'll wait for independent analysis to really confirm.

I'm extremely worried that Intel completely brushed off the large number of 13th and 14th gen laptop chips that failed in a similar fashion to their desktop counterparts. I DO own and use a 13900HX laptop that hasn't gotten any of these microcode updates.

Do you even own a 13th or 14th gen chip?
Better rush over to the Arrow Lake thread. People are posting in there without actually even owning one yet! :)

I guess I'm just a lucky user.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll rush right over and make sure no post goes unnoticed. :D

Retesting these CPUs with the new BIOS may prove interesting to see if benchmark performance is affected and by how much.

Looks like intel is making PR move, just before 16th gen release in next two weeks.

12th gen - broken ethernet in chipset
13th gen - cpu voltage degradation
14th gen - cpu voltage degradation

15th gen - canceled - too slow, and possible hw bugs?
16th gen - all good, intel promises, you should all buy it. :D
Well, I'm not a minor and Intel is not my father to force me to buy it.

People will still buy intel products. I love the phrase "irreversibly degrade over time due to excessive voltage".

So who wins the race for the crappiest mainboard with crappiest central processing unit. People should go more public with issues with their mainboards, cpu, psu and gpus.
So people are now holding back they have problems?

Do you think I should have blacklisted AMD because of dealing with degraded FX chips no longer stable at stock? Most of us accept companies will have problems now and then and just deal with it.

I thought it's already been fixed.
According to an official Intel post it combines 125 and 129 updates into one for 12B. But also includes "and addresses elevated voltage requests by the processor during idle and/or light activity periods" So its something related to idle/light usage.

Just for the sake of it flashed the latest bios, and let my system run with intel defaults profile. It's blasting 1.4-1.42v running games at 5.6ghz. You can run 6ghz all core with those voltages.
No thx, i'll go back to manual settings 5.8 with much lower voltages and power consumption. Just don't let those single/dual core 6+ghz boosts and problems go away.

"Fixed" in quotes. We shouldn't see any more rapid degradation but as to long term degradation and existing degradation already caused, the former is up in the air and the later is guaranteed not fixed.

Level1Tech does a great video on the post-patch world (including a tidbit about how ASUS unsurprising was partly responsible for borking some CPUs with their voltages as well):

Interesting thing from this video is that those p-cores are not entering C6 when idle, thats different to Windows behaviour.

"Fixed" is Intel Speak for "we cba doing more; now rush over to buy our new CPUs once they're released".

I mean, *of course* they've fixed the problems now. Why would one of the absolutely most trustworthy companies out there lie to their customers? A company with the sort of integrity as Intel would never resort to any kind of shenanigans...

It took them less than two years, I guess that's something.

Im sure people with a 13/14th gen feel a lot better now.

Right?

Ofc not. You still have a ticking time bomb in your machine. Perhaps! The lack of certainty is enough...

I said this from the start and they immediately deflected it, most mobo manufacturers ran OC profiles as factory defaults and pushed voltages way above what should've been ... from factory
fck ASUS, GB, AsRock, MSI and fuck Steve too for not naming and blaming the right players - he did the same thing with nVidia's use of 12VHPWR connector that melted and he did the same with AM5 popcorning
way too many people in this industry take what he sais as gospel and not do any ounce of critical thinking

I'm just some guy working in tech support and has to deal with the fallout from these fuckheads because all they care is about perception and clicks, fck'em .. fck'm all!
