Environment Agency.... Great at taking everyones money but absolute shite at doing their jobs. Increased population is one thing. But you'd think that a organisation that gets tonnes of money from the government and other grants would be a little more proactive.

This decline isnt something that just happened to happen over night. Its been a long long long time coming and the pot has finally reached boiling point.

A lot of the issues such as pollution, electricity requirements, etc. can be traced back to over population, but no one wants to say it.

I think putting a limit on amount of children a family can have should be examined/explored for the long term sustainability of the planet.

I circled 1800 and 1900 deliberately since there wasn't any antibiotics, or fertilizer (set amount of food) and families typically had 6+ children back then and the population didn't even double.

Then from 1900 to 2000 it over tripled even with all the wars, in part mainly from antibiotics and fertilizer for food production also with many families in the 50s starting to have fewer children and the population still tripled.

It takes a huge amount of resources to support that many people, and it has a huge burden/consequences of the long term sustainability of the planet and society.

That's definitely true of cities. I'm not sure about rural areas, though. Losing forest area doesn't look nice for sure.

Anyway, I can't stand kids, and the missus can't have any due to health reasons, so at least we're gonna be helping that cause, I guess.

I've stopped buying salmon in the supermarkets because it's mostly farmed. My best mate's brother-in-law is a retired vet (sold his business for a tidy sum) and keen angler. He's appalled at the state of salmon farming and the spread of sea lice. The big companies keep putting the farms near estuaries or wild salmon runs, and - he says - there is a huge rise in the wild salmon population with sea lice (which can be horrendous). Ironically, it's the over popualtion of farmed salmon, that is hurting wild salmon, not withstanding the UK's abysmal water quality (that's another topic though.)

I'm in the UK now visiting friends and family, I gotta say, this weather sucks ass. I got so lucky in 2022, probably will never happen again all that sun.

Nice to see train prices are much cheaper than on previous visits though. Everyone keeps bitching about food prices here, but I just looked at my Sainsbury delivery from 2022, and prices are about the same, I think I only am paying like 10 quid more than I did in 2022 for same basket of groceries. We never never go out to eat, its too pricey, so maybe that's what everyone is complaining about, but most of my groceries I bought last time are the same price.

i was here in october 2022 and it was pretty decent all that month from what I remember, it's not a big deal though, the rain honestly doesn't bother me, we had a drought this summer in the midwest where I live, i hate the dryness so much, so this is honestly really relaxing to me, i only dislike it when its time to walk the dog, because i'd like to buy a rubber or plastic full body poncho, but your culture frowns upon that and i can't buy one anywhere for some reason.

But they should be, if not cheaper today as when you last visited peak inflation was 11% (food specific 18%), now it's down to 2.2% (food specific 4 - 5%).

Yeah, during that one week when I was away on a holiday. Seriously, there hasn't been more than a few days this year when I could take my jumper off at work. I haven't even been to the beach at all, which is really weird for me. @Space Lynx is right: the weather sucks ass here.

I am going to Sainsburys tomorrow, I'm so excited, I love all the foods there. They make amazing Indian curries that are quickly microwaveable. Fish n Chips on Friday, I get both from Sainsburys frozen section, delicious and saves me loads of money vs takeout.
