Yeah , i can't spend too much to get ddr 4 ram + motherboard and cpu so i decided was worth for how low it was to get the 1680 v2. Speaking of OC , i saw it can get to 4.6 easily but yeah . I will thinker around and see what's the best heat to stability is gonna be.

Silicon lottery is always a thing, so yeah, you'll need to tinker(but that can be fun itself). If you can get 4.4 from the one you buy, that would be a sweetspot, but 4.2 is perfectly respectable and still offers the performance one needs for power-user type tasks. The RAM you're using is solid so no worries there. Your 1080ti is still relevant too. You'll have a solid system once you get it and settle on a good OC.

6core to an 8core is a reasonable upgrade. The hit to the clock speed will be a thing, but...

...you're OCing so that might not matter much. Just a tip, from what I've seen, you should expect about 4.2 to 4.3 all-core from that 1680V2 pushing it much faster will give diminishing returns while requiring much more voltage and producing a ton of unwanted heat.

Unless he disabled two cores and overclocked it to the required clock speed as this is possible

A couple of pages back on this forum someone disabled the two cores got a boost in clock speed something like 3.2ghz stock to 3.6ghz. That what I can recall

Not even that. E5-1600 v3 chips are unlocked, -2600 and -4600 v3 susceptible to turbo boost exploit trick (applies 1C turbo to all cores), but all v4's are locked out across all segments. Can't be done, so it's important to purchase the specific v4 SKU that will best suit your needs

Continuing my story the replacement CPU that worked fir weeks has now developed worse instability whenever this memory slot is populated where it would just shut down instead of closing the application. the old PSU is probably sending spikes the motherboard can't handle because lowering the TGP didn't help.

Might be a number of things at fault here if this system is shutting down even at stock state. This might explain the cpu, ram or motherboard is at fault it takes awhile for the PSU to develop a fault less alone sending overvoltage killing another components

Time for PSU tester to verify the power supply if it is in spec or not. As for the motherboard it could be capacitors degraded or the mosfets failing or bios chip need replacing/reflashing

after go to powershell and type Get-ProcessMitigation -System It should be like mine, everything is turned off

I am all for removing Windows Defender and this seems like it's good way. It's important to remember to replace defender with something competent. Removing defender willy-nilly is unwise unless you intend to keep that system offline or install a good security suite.

I see it abit extreme having to to go that far in removing stuff from the operating system. Do what I would do is install Tiny10 they do also have Tiny11 as well therefore more performance available

No harm in turning it off. I prefer to install Tiny iso that is littery stripped down operating system not as bloated as the standard iso from microsoft. I done tiny 7 in a friend's laptop and it rock solid for offline usage as it fast on dual core 4gb

Here I'm using server 2022 converted to workstation, it was very good, fast, Look at the gif I took of this version running on the VM but I use it on a normal PC
I removed the defender and the mitigations were much better than the original with everything

If you want the ISO ready to test, it is pt-br but can be changed after installation to the language you want.

Today is the day . Finally got delivered the 1680 v2 . Will update soon as i get it installed and thinker with it .

I did some tests, first with stock cpu with no oc

Than i did another 2 tests with 1.3 voltage at 4.4 ghz with speed step and 4.5 ghz with speed step and xmp enabled .

4.4ghz

4.5 ghz

If anyone have suggestions about something that i can adjust because so far i did 10 minutes of occt cpu and linkpack other than cinebench and the intel diagnostics and got no crashes .
"gaming" i did the FF15 benchmark and Super Position both at 4k.
