this will be long post but i hope all info here are useful to find the problem

so, i got a Radeon HD7670 from ali, it was supposed to be installed on a build for my little brother as he wants to play some games (mostly older NFS and maybe some PS2 emulation),
and one day he reports to me that after trying to play a game the screen went black, i asked if he done something and said he only installed a texture pack for the game (PCSX2 texture replacing thing) i re installed the said texture pack and it black screened again, so i took my old 750TI and lend him that while i try fixing that amd card

i went home and tried testing some easier to run games on it and see if it was only that game causing the problem
Need for Speed Carbon: ran fine on max graphics
Valorant: After the loadscreen (that one with the vyse agent currently) the game crashes with the error popup saying "Graphics Driver Crashed, Make sure your graphics driver is up to date" (i have the 16.2.1 driver installed aka latest)
GTA V: opens normally, and on the loadscreen it closes and reports the "err_gfx_d3d_init" error
Minecraft: runs perfectly fine
CSGO: same as minecraft
The Escapists 2: just freezes on load screen
Roblox: same as minecraft
CS2: it freezes on the first load screen (the full black one with the red valve logo in the middle)

and on these tests i had msi afterburner and gpuz on screen monitoring the gpu, and the ones that did have a problem happened on the same circumstance, exceeding 1024mb vram
so i suppose the card doesnt have actually 4gb and the bios is obviously altered. however i tried to flash new bioses of this card with the 1gb of vram but ATI Flash reports "subsystem id mismatch" and stops the operation, anyone to help me find a solution?

Looks like your using a driver from 2016, AMD dropped support for HD 7000 series sometime in 21 or 22'. Have you tried with the last official driver release yet?
Just my opinion, but its a gamble buying an old card from a place like aliexpress - heard some sad stories of ripoffs from that place.

yes but this 2016driver is the latest i could find in amd's website, so idk where to find updates for it

plus now im confused as i just found a SK Hynix pdf file about ram chips (normal ddr, gddr and lpddr ram chips) and now the chips i got appear to be 2GB? instead of the 1024 i tought before

bottom of page 9, on the GDDR5 area
all 4chips on my gpu have the Hynix "H5GQ2H24MFR-T2C" code on them

Your card crashes because it's fake. The H5GQ2H24MFR-T2C is a 2 Gbit IC which means each of the four chips on your board have a capacity of 256 MB

Once you get above 1 GB VRAM or if anything is mapped above the physical memory range, your GPU will inevitably crash because the memory physically doesn't exist

Throw this GPU in the garbage and buy a GT 1030 or RX 6400, don't buy cheap cards off AliExpress anymore

but this happens cause the gpu reporting having 4gb
maybe if it reported the real 2048 or 1024mb idk whats actually in the chips, it wouldnt crash cause the games wouldnt try loading data into the non existent vram

also pretty rude of you thinking its easy out there, specially on our country with the certainly unprepared president we currently have, and the massive taxes on everything, now even more on imported products

but yeah, thanks for the help

Can you find white stickers on the card?

Get a picture of the gou die without paste, if there is a metal frame surrounding the die get a picture of numbers on it, also a picture of the card on top side and bottom side please

Look at my location. I know what it's like to deal with expensive electronics and that's all the more reason you should listen to people with experience in this field. It's only rude because it's not what you wanted to listen. When I tell you to throw it in the garbage, I actually mean it. These fake cards have no quality control whatsoever, just installing them on your motherboard is a potential hazard, malfunctions can end up frying things and then the bill to replace suddenly became a lot higher. Not to mention this thing performs like actual crap.

In any case, this is probably what you want to flash on it, if you're willing to take the risk. It matches the correct memory size, type and hardware ID.

This GPU was never released to the public, the HD 7670 is an OEM card. And this is a fake OEM card. So you're probably never getting that sticker. There's only one BIOS that matches it in TPU's unverified section and it's the one I linked. All other uploads are from similar counterfeits, and the BIOSes actually fail checksum.

It's a hot potato. Anyway, good luck to you fellas. I said my piece.

the only sticker on the card is in the back of the pcb
this one

i see your location, thats why i said OUR country, the difference between me and you is that you dont gotta worry about a gpu problem cause you got ATLEAST a 20k brl build, not sure if you know but it is tough out here, specially for those less fortunate, and our under valued currency dont really allow most of us to have a living and still buy some nice hardware here and there Mr. Tio Patinhas

and im fairly new to this but about the bios flash i tried atleast some 15 both unverified and verified bios files that could potentially work on this gpu, and the one you linked i already tested, and amdvbflash gives the "subsystem id mismatch" error so thank you

I know you have. My first and foremost concern is that even if you reprogram its BIOS successfully, you won't change the fact that counterfeit boards use dubiously sourced components and are built with poor workmanship. I don't feel comfortable vouching for their safety.

The second is more of an ethos, I believe the correct way to deal with counterfeit products to take them off circulation and have people who fell victim to the scam (even if they have done so willingly) demand refunds to whoever sold them the product, that way you discourage this criminal activity from taking place. This is an almost 15 year old GPU design with drivers that haven't been updated in almost a decade. The juice ain't worth the squeeze, my man.

In any case, good luck to both of you. I contributed what I could.

Gddr5 is quad pumped.

5000 (5Gbps) is 1250MHz

3600 (3.6Gbps) is 900MHz

4000 (4.0Gbps) is 1000MHz

With the ram truly only being 2 Gibibits x4

2 Gbit is .250 GByte *4 is 1 GGbyte total

Which is most likely this gpu.

Only way to know is if the gpu die holds true to the pn used, and it appears the sapphire bios used on card was heavily modded.

yeah when i press lookup on gpu-z thats the gpu it redirects me to
so its not 2048 neither 1024mb

so the bios its currently in works fine, its just the vram capacity thats wrong, so is there a way to maybe edit the values and make it show up as 512mb?

OP says 4 of H5GQ2H24MFR-T2C are present, this is a 2 Gbit IC, this means each chip is 256 MB (2048/8), 1 GB GPU

Please open gpu-z again and click the arrow next to the uefi check box and attempt to upload the bios to the VGA Bios collection/database through the program itself, you might get notified the bios is already in the collection with a link, copy and paste the link here please

Yeah i just checked i was going off of .125 which is 1Gb and not .250, I'm tired. Going to revise

7870 (Pitcairn) is an actual GCN 1.0 product belonging to that family (HD 7000). As opposed to 7670, a simple OEM rebrand of HD 6670, VLIW and pre-GCN entirely. Stands to reason that while the name might suggest otherwise, compatibility and driver support should follow most of its HD 6000 compatriots. Not surprised that some modern games don't run properly.

Bios isn't a real Sapphire bios. Sapphire includes the PCB board id in the subsystem id and I dont see that board id.

I've found the original bios which is used as base for the fake bios which is now on the graphics card. It might work for you.

If it doesn't work, please make a picture of the whole PCB.

Product line naming conventions have always sucked in this industry. This is not the first time nor the last that customers will see this phenomena.

Terascale 2/3 are just plain too old at this point :(
Unless you plan to make him play only older/retro games (that are basically Windows 7 compatible) ?
Try to sell it, and get something newer when it get's fixed.

Bios isn't a real Sapphire bios. Sapphire includes the PCB board id in the subsystem id and I dont see that board id.

I've found the original bios which is used as base for the fake bios which is now on the graphics card. It might work for you.

If it doesn't work, please make a picture of the whole PCB.
didnt work, amdvbflash reports "subsystem ID mismatch" but seems pretty close

he is, its not like hes going to play red dead redemption 2 or something, prolly the newest title he may try to play is GTA 5, and on some benchmarks it runs around 50fps on 1080p normal settings if im not mistaken, so decent experience, i first played it on a i5 2600k on integrated graphics, painful experience but managed to get to the end
Did you also open a dispute on Ali since it is a fake card? ;)
i couldnt, by the time he reported to me, it was gone the two week dispute time so i couldnt do much about it

Open a command prompt at the folder your flash utility is

amdvbflash -i (to identify GPU ID, it's probably 0 since you only have one card, let's assume this is 0 for the example)
amdvbflash -unlockrom 0
amdvbflash -f -p 0 filename.rom

If it doesn't work, download an old version and run the flasher on bootable DOS. This graphics card is very old and unsupported.
