Whew. Didn't ever think I would get to own 5 working Voodoo cards but here we are :)
20241018_220724.jpg

In order, left to right, top and bottom:
- Creative Labs 3D Blaster Banshee, CT6750
- STB Voodoo 3 2000
- STB Voodoo 3 3000 (note the slightly different PCB colour)
- Innovision "Mighty Banshee" (my first dive into SGRAM resoldering)
- ELSA Victory II - A16 (Banshee)

Looking to get a PCI V3 as well... the only one I have ended up with a botched RAM replacement attempt. I might be able to fix that with lots of Kynar wire trace-patching but I'm not holding up any hopes.

Lines aren't perfectly aligned... but it works both esthetic and functionality wise.
Now we know where NV got inspiration from :)

anyone remember this sweet setup? specs in profile.
I have 2 running win 11 and one is running win 11 24h2. Still very capable systems.

Upgrade for my fun x58 build. 25 usd from ebay.

very cheap new 3x8gb DDR3 1600, it is compatible with the old motherboards. 8 usd/dimm

Video card will be a vega56 reference blower not arrived yet.

Very nice! Your X58 system is effectively maxxed out with that CPU and more RAM wouldn't be all the useful. That's setup would be well matched with a GTX 1070, 1070ti or 1080!

OP says that they're using a vega56 which seems fitting. I would not go any faster because my old Ivy Bridge 3570k-based system was bottlenecking an RX 480. What case does that build utilize?

Runs Far Cry (1) at 8k 60FPS, so it's good enough ;)

New challenge: try to score the record lowest FPS with the 3080 Ti in a game by picking the slowest CPU and downclocking it XD

I actually can't.
This MB doesn't support slowest CPUs for 775 platform (Celeron D) :/
Downclock is also limited because of this :
1) Pentium 4/D I used don't have unlocked multipliers (and even if they do, minimum is x12 on 65nm, and x14 on 90nm chips).
2) Minimum FSB support of 800MT/s, ie. I can't downclock CPUs below 200MHz (real) bus speed (which is stock for this CPU).

Thinking I missed that point. The GPU suggestions were only that. Vega56 isn't bad, but driver support is a bit lacking as AMD dropped the Vega56 & Vega64. NVidia is still supporting The GTX10X0 cards.

How the hell did THAT work?!?
First problem: An RTX3080ti on a socket775 motherboard??
Second problem: An RTX3080ti running WITH DRIVERS on Windows 7??
That is some super jank going on there!!

:D
Magic, with sprinkle of pixie dust
But being more serious :
1) Legacy capable vBIOS (no EFI only),
2) Windows 7 has official drivers for all 30 series cards.

Kind of surprised you didn't pointed out at 3-rd point : Almost 20 year CPU that this runs on :D (or 8k resolution)

Is Romania that far from Poland?
Anyway, nice mobo; lots of IDE connectors. And McDonald's cup (top right) ;)

Being laid off I find I have a little free time..

I should put together my Rampage Formula system and see if she fires. Has a Xeon X3360, 4GB G.Skill PC8500, any Thermalright cooler that I want, GTX580 Matrix Platinum, or 980 Classified..

Hmm.

Looks like the caps are in good shape. Have you tested it yet?
Yes, it runs great, although there is one cap slightly puffy, by the ATX plug, but it seems to pose no issue for the time being. (don't worry, it'll be replaced along the other Teapos.)

Interesting tidbits:
- Thunderbirds are the only that won't require you to track down ECC DDR RAM. Dunno why that is, but anything AXP (and I think this includes XP-Ms as well) absolutely REQUIRES you to use ECC RAM.
- SB Live 5.1 does not play nice with it. I can tell why - 686B southbridge. Corrupted my 2k install once but I managed to restore it.
- Not fully sure but it MIGHT require that non-ECC RAM in the DIMM4 and 3 slots (fair warning - this board's definition of primary DIMM slots is totally upside down.) be populated with single-sided DIMMs, and the other two (DIMM2 and 1) can be either single or double-sided. Gotta investigate that a bit more.
- forget running a 2000 series Voodoo 3 - it won't POST. Only 3000 seems to work.

I wouldn't worry about either, especially given that you're planning a cap replacement.

Wow! Didn't know any of that. I remember working with that board. Either I'm forgetting all of that, or it just wasn't and issue. Back them the TBirds were my goto AMD CPU's, the standard SB Live was my goto sound card and Radeon or Geforce cards were the goto GPUs. Never saw the RAM issues. NonECC, 256MB or 512MB DIMMs were the order of the day..

I wonder if his got his house back to order after the storms that happened in Florida? o_O
He uploaded a video going through the remains (it reminded me of Austin Evans' video on when his apartment/flat burned down), but I suspect it'll take a while for him to get his house restored. There's some serious damage from when the tree fell on his house and let water in, causing a lot of stuff to mold. You can't get this kind of damage fixed quickly.
