As for me, I'm a secret member here, as I use BOINC for Einstein@Home, which doesn't register as folding or crunching on TPU, but that's fine.

We do have a TPU team there, though.

Mainly for the efficiency. Because power, and now cooling that it's summer, is expensive here, I want to maximize the work units done per watt. Sounds silly, but it's one of the things I enjoy about crunching/folding. I've done both in the past, but I took a break for a while.

I'll have to look into Einstein@home, I've seen the name but don't know what type of research they're doing.

lol. I guess it's not technically summer here, but it's been over 90F (33C) here this week, and it's just getting started. Almost time to need the AC to keep it at/under 78F/26C in the house.

Here. I've also used Milkyway@Home and Universe@Home in the past, but they only have CPU WUs, that's why I switched. Universe@Home doesn't even have a TPU team, unfortunately.

33 °C in May is hot! Here, in the middle of England, it's been about 5-10 °C cold and cloudy until about a week or so ago, so personally, I've never missed some sunny warmth so much.

I can't say I blame you on that one... I did a day when I had things running overnight (not everything but a fair amount!!) and I think the day ended and I was billed for 70kW alone in that one day.... If I go by the standard rate of charge for the kW here, that would be nearly £20 of electric... Utterly mental... Anyone care to do a guess of what it actually cost me??........

If you'd like I could add the stats in but I'm coming up to 6 years doing this in July and I'm feeling like I need a break from it! So if anyone would like that flame........

And please feel free to put up some posts regarding the hardware setups and such for what you're doing, its all great to see and gives the forum in this area a bit of a wake up as it can be aside from me putting up the stats every day, a tad bit quiet......

That was for the day! I think I had about 12 running, including a couple of Dell R730 servers... I was making the most of the power/price!! Just waiting for the next day to come across I'll see if I can grab a list of what's there

I am leaving for a little Holiday on my Motorcycle so, I will be turning off my home computers. I will be back sometime Friday, or Saturday, to resume crunching. I will be taking my Laptop along so I may check in, once or twice.. But mostly it is for navigation and planning, from a hotel room, somewhere. I am all packed, just need a few more minutes to double check, and I am off. Take care!!

Ok, got back a few hours ago, took a nap and unpacked and started some laundry. All went well (ish) and I will provide more later in the week. Got 2 machines up and running, now. I am gonna chill with some Youtube and laundry, then hit the sack, got a 12 hour shift tomorrow.

After seeing how low my August energy bill was, I fired up my rig and my two HTPCs to do a couple of WUs while I was at work last night. The main rig completed them nicely, but the two HTPCs both got the CPU WUs stuck at 89-ish % for far longer than they should have spent on completing them, with CPU usage at 100%. After suspending the stuck tasks, they started working on other ones nicely.

I'm running BOINC client 8.0.2 on all three machines.

I've noticed for as long as I've run the project, that the GPU tests right near the end when they say they have 40 seconds ish left, it tends to stay like it for a while but does eventually clear and away your on to the next one... I'm running the same client as yourself

I don't think so. It all just stopped at 89% and was stuck for hours before I shut it down. I lost the credit for the work, but oh well... I'll try again later.

I've not noticed anything like that I'm afraid Just the GPU work seems very slow to finish, the last 30 to 45 seconds of work seems to take about 5 minutes or so...

I was just wondering if anyone had noticed if they'd had a lot of pending downloads again? On most of my crunchers they seem to have stopped downloading some files -

Not for me on Einstein@Home. It used to download days worth of pending stuff, but now, it only does what it's working on straight away.

I promise it goes to the ARP story, not the Zika story, both of which you can find there, since I have been updating this thread for years. Granted, off and on, for years...Life/work and so on.

I don't think I got any new ARP's yet but, I am happy that Rosetta is populating my work loads again!

Not as often as I'd like, to be honest, but I still do a weekend or two per month.

Now, another thing surfaced. I've just installed Linux (I've had enough of Windows treating me as a child), which has a BOINC manager as well, but it seems to act weirdly.

Firstly, I get no GPU WUs. I'm on AMD, and my games work just fine, so drivers aren't a problem.

Secondly, I get the same 16 CPU WUs that I did on Windows, but only 90-95% CPU usage. Core clocks aren't a steady 4.8 GHz, either, they fluctuate between 4 and 5 GHz. Completing a WU takes more than a day this way instead of 2-3 hours.

My computing preferences are the same as before, I saved and downloaded my settings from the web. I have no idea what's going on.

I was always under the impression that Linux was faster than Windows when running these tasks but it was a real pain in the arse to get the GPU side of things working, which is why I sadly stayed with Windows over Linux....

What version/model of Linux are you using @AusWolf ??

It could very well be faster, maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

Last night, it downloaded around 40 WUs, I clicked "don't get more tasks" as I thought it'd never finish them, but now I checked and they're all gone. So maybe everything is ok? I don't know. It's just weird to see my CPU working on BOINC at 55-60 °C when in Windows, it was well above 70, almost 80.

I'll look into how to get GPU WUs, but if it's too much of a hassle, I'll leave it.

What version/model of Linux are you using @AusWolf ??

I'm using Bazzite (a gaming oriented spinoff of Fedora) with KDE. So far it's pretty great (miles better than Windows).

It had been working fine for the last few days but today.... Just terrible.. Shut down for the day today, the electric prices have shot up like crazy, so won't be getting much on the score boards today
