Put a fan right on the memory sticks. Cooler running sticks tend to stay stable. Like them under 50c load.
Under 40 C is necessary for stability if you run tight timings.

Doing what I can here lol.
What load is that memory under?

I don’t see any way I’m keeping it under 40 though. This memory boots at like 30 C. And that’s just normal for this stuff. Lol

2x32 64gb kit is not the same as less dense 8, 16, 24gb memory obviously.

Noted. I’d love to see that article.

So 3 passes. Thats 3 “cycles”?
Also, it says I need to run it as administrator but when I try to, I get a bunch of errors.

but I let it run testing, and I got no errors.View attachment 369679

No, use Extreme1@anta777 config, default isn't enough. Click load config & exit and point it to the txt that comes with the zip

Ok ty. Just let it run to completion or stop it at a time?

Run to completion, each run will take around 1h30 iirc. If it errors out (either number or weird unreadable Russian text), or BSOD, then unstable memory

No way I’m running that. Temps get to like 76c.
I’m at 1.46v on 1.4v ram.
I can’t drop that at all or it’s unstable.
I can’t drop memory controller or TX. 1.35

Even at stock settings it gets so hot it becomes unstable. Lol
I think this is unrealistic or there’s some other voltages I need to adjust.

If I get better cooling maybe but 1 hour in Aida64 and passing on default is enough for me for now.
Going to look into more cooling and I’ll try again.

There are voltages you need to adjust, yes. But it's not unrealistic, any program with heavy copy operations that will reasonably max out your system's RAM throughput is gonna stress it that much. If your temps are bad, you need to adjust voltages and perhaps look at active cooling. At least the Apex Encore comes with a RAM fan, not sure if the Dark Hero does. Any system that exhibits failures or cannot be operated at maximum capacity because an issue will arise is by definition, unstable, so even if you aren't getting crashes right now, treat this as a failure

DDR5 RAM temp should be at max 60-65C for stability at tREFI 65536, 131072 will need 45-50 and 262144 will need sub 40C load temps for stability. Running sticks regularly on air means you should stick to tREFI 65536 and lower. Hot RAM = leaky RAM = unstable RAM

Thank you. I’m going to look into that.

is tREFI Ref interval or tREFIX9 on Intel motherboards?

Ahh it’s DRAM Refresh Interval.

So I didn’t realize that I wouldn’t be able to edit this topic anymore after a few days I guess? Some kind of forum standard? I deleted my instructional video on YouTube because I’ve tightened the timings and stuff and I was just going to update it in the topic but I guess because of that I’m going to have to create a new topic. Might be best to delete this topic then? Lol

This is what I OCed to with Trident Z5 RGB, DDR5-6400 CL32-39-39-102 1.40V , 64GB (2x32GB) ,F5-6400J3239G32GX2-TZ5RS

6800 CL32. 1.45V - Seems stable enough to do Y-Cruncher 10b and 1000% mem.

Went a little bit higher for HWBOT - Total not stable but I got #1 :)

Wow, 6800? I tried to get that but I would need more than 1.47 V unless I start seriously loosening up some timings I guess. But that gives me a great baseline to compare things too because the memory is so similar.
Thanks man!

Keep in mind he’s on a 2-DIMM board.

My 13900K does 8200 with 2x24GB (single-rank) on my Apex Encore, but the same CPU couldn’t get past 6800 on a base model MSI Z790 board.

Yep! I don't think I would hit 6800-6933 with a 4-slot. But The ASUS Hero Dark is a Z790 Refresh, so maybe?

Ahhh, yeah, that’s an entirely different animal.
This board has been a huge PITA lol.
Returning the 8000 I got. I don’t want to deal with gear 4 vs what I’ve done with this Cl 30.
Just not worth the price of the new ram I think.
I have unlocked it for you
Thanks Free, much appreciated.

Idk man. I tried. It definitely wasn’t plug and play on XMP lol.
Started dropping frequency and when I hit 7200 I was like F this lol.

Ok Whew. That took forever but I wanted to be absolutely sure it was stable.. And it is. Bet I could do a little better but this is pretty solid I think. Updated the OP. :toast:
Main timings got down to 30-38-38-38-56. @ 1.47V

I don't have the same kit, but a similar one. I think mine is even more budget level, no RGB lol.

At any rate, this is what I run daily and have not been able to get more stable and also without REALLY heating up the DDR5. 1.35V is my current setting.

What could I tweak for slightly better performance; if anything? I have done my due diligence with ActuallyHardcoreOC as best I can
I’m relatively new to this stuff but unless I’m wrong I would try bringing down that TRAS to 66 or 76. You might get lucky and get down to 56 like I got.
Trefi to 66000 or higher. What’s your temps under load?

@Dr. Dro told me this:

6600 with your timings and subs, I would take the win and call it. Only so much you can do before it really becomes diminishing returns.

I am actually super happy with this, but I just set the TREFI to 131072 because my temps have been so good and it’s stable so far. Going to test it to be sure but after that, I’m done. This is as good as I can hope for I think. I agree. Thank you.

Edit: Trefi errored me out. 65k it is lol.
Odd, I didn’t even hit 45c..
Meh.

Now I’m going to hit the processor.. Muahaha!!!!

Muahaha!!!!
:rockout:

It could have errored out at 131072 due to not enough voltage (as memory cells naturally leak charge), but 131k on air only if you live in a very cold climate with a fan blowing on the RAM or have liquid cooling for them, otherwise stick to 65536. Past 65K, the returns diminish anyway, it's a good refresh interval for bandwidth. I agree with cow, you're golden mate.

Hmmmm. Not enough voltage on the VDD/Q, the controller, TX or SA you think?
I’ll play around with it and see if I can get it stable. Thanks for the tip Dro.

Gear 2 or 4? Still more difficult to run a 14900ks though right?

Gear 2 or 4?

DRAM voltage itself. But raising it will also cause the chips to run even hotter, which is counterproductive, so really, I think 65K is a good point :)

Gear 2, all timings manually tuned, running a 2x24GB 8K MT's kit. (Single rank)
Highly depends on your IMC Silicon quality, you have that on your AI feature page in BIOS, run the "Get MC SP" test, it should tell you where you're at.

Well now I have to try don’t I… lol

Darn Tootin. That’s sweet.
I should have the right set up for it.
195 points and all. That’s good right? lol.
But I tried 8000 on this thing and it was on gear 2 and I kept downclocking it until I hit like 7200 and then I was just like fuck this,
I’d rather have 6600 with tight timings.lol
I don’t know, maybe I was doing something wrong. Thank you.

Hey @Dr. Dro I raised the voltage to 1.48 and before the temperatures even hit 40° it gave me an error. Is there really no other voltage adjustment that might affect that?
Guess I’ll try to raise TX and MC, see what shakes loose. Then I’ll try SA.
