This hasn't been true at least since the Intel Z170 generation. By the Z97, the TUF boards were already shedding the high-quality components, steel plating etc. as "optional", making the Sabertooth Z87 pretty much the last board to ever have been built to that standard. It's 11 years old already. It's just the ASUS midrange. That's all it is nowadays.

TUF stands for "The Ultimate Force", it used to be a highly ruggedized range of products, nowadays they are just "premium" midrangers. The products from this range are well built, but these claims are largely marketing devices nowadays and you'll find that they aren't really better built than any other motherboard of equivalent feature set and price - i.e., not worth paying a premium for them if there are options available.

Still, it's not a bad motherboard, it's just not an outstanding model, and it lacks some quality of life features that you'd probably want to have if you ever need them, but probably won't miss them if you don't.

I wouldn't worry too much about the board as long as it offers everything you need connectivity wise it's irrelevant. You could buy a 1000 usd board and it last 3 months or a 130 usd board and it last 10 years it's a lottery.

I've had issues with all board makers so I tend just to buy what offers me the most for my $$$ and live with it.

Talking about itx, that board is way too expensive lol. I did like the X670E Carbon also too expensive imho.

The only X870E board I really like is the Nova.

I'm eyeing that board for having a 10 layer PCB and obviously 1DPC. With the X870 Tachyon still missing in action, it's almost tempting enough to offset the ugliness that will ensue for having an ITX motherboard in a relatively large ATX case just for playing with memory. It also supposedly has 110A power stage for fun i guess. I shouldn't...

I think ill be disappointed next to the megatuned 900k and move it to a 2ndary system but who knows, maybe it actually IS that fast.

If all you care about is performance, go ITX or a two DIMM board. You get the best frequency/timings on memory. Nitropath boards are out too. With 32 and 48 GB sticks, soon to be 64 GB, there's no reason to need four slots anyway.

Secondly, your boot/software drive should be Optane. P1600X or 5800.

I'd stay away from entry level ASUS and previous gen boards, grab a Strix if you can. Difference is what, 5% of the cost of your system?

It's a bit of a catch 22 situation that. Strong VRMs are missing on ITX boards. The only board I've seen for AM5 that ticks all those boxes with a strong VRM is the Gigabyte B650E Aorus Tachyon.
Now if they could make that with the upcoming B850 chipset...

That will definitely be fine because my setup is straight DDR5 and set up for the long haul because nothing uses anything remotely close to the power of my system

And it's become so nonsensical that Unify x had to use all 19 105A vrms for the CPU, having not a single one for iGPU. Results, my igpu ain't working, lol
