Those are no joke the best keyboards I know of. I have a bunch of the smartcard versions, and they're ... not as perfect as the versions without the readers (they're bigger). I've been on mechanical keyboards for a bit and going back to the old Dell was like coming home.

Already got it installed using the earlier mentioned tape, it seems even that is enough to cool it - tested with an similarly fixed 3D Blaster Banshee on a 20GB Quantum Fireball w/98SE and 3dmark99 as well as 2000 to stress the parts a bit. Everything was well in spec thermal wise.

Also took time to replace the 40GB Seagate U6 "rubberjacket" drive with an 74GB Raptor. Boots twice as fast right off the bat, almost on par with a SSD.

Ok, this is not a WinME issue. I remember seeing that problem on Win95/98/98SE as well BITD. I remember figuring out how to fix it, but can't remember how. Can you open up the ATI control panel and show us your settings? Also, have you installed DirectX7.1, DirectX8 and DirectX9c?

That's for sure. But i don't have a system with NT4 (just for fun) so it would have been nice if it was possible.
But maybe another time in dualboot on a IDE drive/other system
I think NT4 should still run in VMWare Workstation as a VM now that it's free.

AGP HD3850 is rare, and the Yamaha sound card is very good at retro gaming. There is Radeon 9250/9550/9600, 5760, firemv, nvidia 6200se, 7300gs, 6600, 8600gt silent, Fx5600, Asus GTS450, MSI GTX650
A lot of DDR1/2 ram. I really like the Zeppelin gold modules.
Not tested yet.

I have one T61p on my closet, should just get an universal charger for it (gave one Thinkpad one away, dammit), that's a beauty from almost the same era. :)

Sucks that you have only Core Duo, no x64 support :/

If I remember correctly, that laptop can take 2GB DDR2 DIMMs. 4GB of RAM and you'd have yourself a reasonable Retro XP system.
Tho 2GB is fine, at least on my Pentium M something/2GB/Radeon 9200M setup :rockout:

Found also a 7200rpm HDD for it, surprisingly snappy for an old laptop HDD.

You think THOSE are old?
What I was trying to say is that when I think of the Intel Core moniker, I don't think of CPUs from 2006. They've been using it for so long that I think of the rest of the series, not the original release.

Almost finished with moving my retro PCs output to the main i5 build. So far the HDMI capture card arrived but I had to reorder the VGA side since I got the wrong adapter.

In the meantime, I got my PS3 as proof of the adapter working :D (backwards compatible, CECHC03. I have a USA CECHA01 en route from Illinois to Romania as well.)

Yeah but sadly the other DIMM is behind the keyboard... ugh.

Plus I only have 2gb of spare ram for it in the form of 2x1gb sticks.

What CPU is the Intel T2050? I haven't heard of it before.
I think it was the first dual core from Intel for laptop that wasn't just HT single core

That's ok, that still an upgrade from the 1.5GB it has now. Honestly, if you take your time, the keyboard is easy to remove.

In that note, I found the following;
It would be a very nice upgrade and for only $5. 100% compatible with that model of laptop.

I'll have to wait a bit to mess with the keyboard removal for ram upgrade... plus can't buy anything else for a while

ATI Control Panel -> Display properties or in the Control Panel.

These are the latest version of all DirectX version that can work on Win9X.
DirectX6 -> http://www.oldversion.com/windows/directx-6-1
DirectX9 -> http://www.oldversion.com/windows/directx-9-29-1974
DirectX8 -> http://www.oldversion.com/windows/directx-8-2
DirectX7 -> http://www.oldversion.com/windows/directx-7-0a

Right-click the ATI logo next to the clock. That's the control panel.
This too!
