My 5th string desktop. AMD fx rig. She's been put up for a while, but still works fine. Time to show it some love. Gonna take her a part and clean real good. Maybe go back with a few different parts/upgrades and some new storage.

Only difference this time is... my rear fan died, probably from me forcing it to constantly run at the minimum rpm possible ( wanted to maintain positive pressure - but also feels like something is missing if its not there). I had bought some replacement fans on a whim on amazon because they were so cheap (15 cad for 3). But I didn't read the fine print, the rgb is completely non addressable and it seems like the rgb and fan power comes from the same pin, so brightness and fan speed cannot be seperated, frustrating.

I mean I just spent a bunch of money on a keyboard that can take colours from software so I felt like my fan should be able to do the same, even if I'm content with rainbow now, I'll undoubtedly want to go back to something else later, so I got an artic bionix fan from a local shop. Yeah it was kinda expensive, $20 cad for a single fan.... could have got 3 of something and saved per fan but w/e, its artic, I bet it will last a decent while and I have no need for other fans. Also I'm gonna try to relax on the min rpm stuff too, its not really necessary, I'm leaving it at 600 rpm rather than 400, which is 30% power, hopefully thats sufficient to not overly stress it. And its still positive pressure

Anyway... here it is: (sorry the tv audio is in there)

I spent 13 hours rearranging my computer to put in 2x240mm radiators and putting a water block on my GPU, it was my first time. The GPU temps dropped significantly from 105C hot spot and 85-98C temp 400-430 watts, to high 60's on the hot spot after some time and mid 40's on the die, for the tubing I decided on 7/16 on 5/8. This was a needed upgrade for the card, I had PTM 7950 on before and after the water block.

Made this wood panel out of 1/4" Birch plywood, it has 4x clear oil based polyurethane on the outside and 2x on the inside.
Wood this thin is tricky because the veneer is so thin it splinters. I found that the urethane was useful to ensure it stayed together. I really never liked the glass this case came with. Right now its just press fit in there, I don't know if I will bother adding any mounting hardware.

Thanks I might have done better with Cherry urethane to add some more color and it might have hidden some blotches and chips in the outer veneer, but the clear was already opened from an earlier project. I used https://www.minwax.com/en/products/protective-finishes/wipe-on-poly-oil-based-polyurethane-finish

Cherry is nice, Ash is too. There is this wood called Purple Heart, I love that stuff.

Made a pipe out of it once, but the cops took it. Was a nice pipe though..

Will you have enough room in there for a RTX5090 the AIB cards all seem pretty big and not just width wise but lengthy aswell from what I've seen so far bigger than 4090's

This is what I'm working on tonight. It failed windows 11 upgrade and was all jacked up. Got it all straightened out though. r7-7700 with a 6650xt. It's an art/web/photo department comp. i built them a few just like it. this is the first one to have a lick of trouble in 2 years. Anyway, fixed now. it has a date with the air compressor, then I can enjoy my computers for the weekend.

Love this Silverstone! I was trying to get my hands on one second-hand. Missed a local posting for exactly PS07 at the measly €15. Or TJ08-E. Actualy TJ08 would be better, give that 180mm a run for its money
