AMD has a good opertunity to make it happen, but we all know AMD has this skill to F it up!

100% agree. $549.99. Their biggest fans will jump at it, the restock will sit there unsold, and AMD will be clueless as to why they have no sales.

People may not like Nvidia pricing, but at least they don’t screw over their biggest fans - the early adopters - the way AMD does. Lots of people must have felt so warm and snugly after AMD cut the price of Zen5 three weeks after release.

Damn, if AMD prices it at $550, it will give me serious pause until nGreedia match the price/performance. That would be so juicy.

Read a rumor today that AMD was caught completely by surprise by Nvidia's pricing scheme for Blackwell, which makes perfect sense and is in line with much of the speculation on this forum. But apparently the reason we see so many reports of AMD cards sitting in retail stock rooms is that AMD distributed those cards to retailers at an agreed price point that now isn't tenable. They're stuck trying to renegotiate with retailers before they offer those cards to the public.

I don't think that rumor has any basis. The 5070 is a 12 GB card, so AMD could have played the "we give you more VRAM" game. Unless the 9070 XT is priced closer to the 5070 Ti, which seems to be false by other rumours which predict ~$500. Also, a price adjustment would have been possible by offering retailers a partial refund for the cards they already have. There was nothing to catch AMD off guard, imo.

I agree that the situation is highly unusual, but none of the rumours make any more sense to me than the situation itself.

I've switched my brain into "wait for events to unfold" mode. We should be close enough to the actual launch anyway.

Edit: Or maybe the launch driver isn't ready yet.

Maybe they think, that 1% market share for Radeon is a very nice idea) Postponing sales by almost 2 month, when all sellers will have all kinds of RTX 5070 available for purchase - genius!

Funny) 9070 in any case is not a direct competitor to any geforce card. How you may call yourself competitor if on 10 geforce cards you sell only 1 in the best scenario? It may be a good video card overall, but... well, we all know that most of gamers will by nvidia and chances on a good sales month after 5070 will be released are very small (just in case - I own myself a radeon 6900xt).

Given the fact that the raw perf upgrade from 4070 to 5070 will be miniscule and the alleged performance of 9070XT that puts it next to 4070Ti then that makes the 9070XT direct competitor of the 5070.
Excluding the multi frame generation that only has meaning on a few cases.

The stack of the cards performance wise (raw/RT) could end up being:

1. 5070Ti
2. 9070XT
3. 5070
4. 9070

Market share is irrelevant in this comparison because up to now the last few years AMD did not have direct competition with nVidia on most aspects and features, other than raw performance.
Not saying that all of sudden the table will turn 180degrees, but it seems that AMD has a chance to "steal" at least some share if the prices are right.

The card should had been release in December 2024 it was being shipped out to specially storage in the US because of T's planned tariffs but with a march release a lot of retailers have a big investment just sitting in stock that cost money which ain't good.

Maybe AMD should stop sponsering LTT Tech upgrades and focus more getting their 9070 cards out.

You are from LA and I guess you dont know what import fees and taxes are here in EU countries.
If a GPU in US cost $500 MSRP then in my country will cost

$500 = 480€
480 + 23% VAT = 590€ at least.
If the supply is limited then it can go way above 600€ up to 650~700€, some times even more.

The ~600€ is pretty much guaranteed for a new $500 MSRP US product with plenty of a supply.
