It's one of the only T chips that are widely available on Aliexpress, the bad thing is the taxes...
Indeed. But even without taxes, it's expensive for old tech which I'd use on nothing major. With taxes, it's outright absurd, it'd be worth half of what I paid for the laptop 6 years ago.

@Onyx Turbine 12600K (along with its power-tamed relaunch, the 13400) and 12700K are possibly the best bang-for-buck-for-watt-for-ease-of-mind Intel has. Alder still performs admirably well.

Dat feeling when you live in the country where you can get stuff directly from Ali without paying any import tax (or it’s marginal and already factored into the price). That’s how I got those T models I mentioned earlier - cheap tray samples from Ali.

nice to know, need to get used to the 12700k, if intel not created these 13-14 issues i would have gone into a higher gen 13, 14 or waited for 15th gen.
having a 14700k and have a strong overall power consumption in applications, gaming what not did feel wrong

Benchmark Scores They're pretty good, nothing crazy.
I mean 13600Ks are so nice, with the static voltage you can crank them to 5.8Ghz, price is nice as well, basically giving them away.

If you take off turbo and have the mitigations in place it basically an awesome all rounder chip for $240.

I wouldn't, personally..... But go ahead if you want.

If you're craving an upgrade, you know RL is getting some nice deals, you don't have to change mobos and you can always put some protections in place above what intel has already done. Or don't, and use their 5 year warranty that includes cross shipping. Mine is working pretty nicely right now. Idle power consumption is like 7w.

But at the same time 12700k is still a fine cpu.... could always keep waiting, unless you got the upgrade bug right now and need something just cause ( And I've been there, no judgment).

RL? Which cpu is it with 7w idle? Thanks for understanding the upgrade bug, wonder how i survived before with almost 12 years 3770

I think that by RL, @iameatingjam meant RPL (Raptor Lake) aka 13th and 14th gen Intels. I wouldn't know which model idles that low, though.

Not hard to survive with THAT, I sat on a 2600K myself for a decade. Sandy/Ivy was an absolute banger and undoubtedly the greatest single CPU generation/architecture Intel has ever produced. Hell, might be a good argument for being the GOAT CPU overall.

Its all in my system specs, its the 14700kf. Its being annoying right now and not going down to 7, but it does sometimes. But here this should be close enough.

Sorry I don't understand, you mean you used a i7 3770 for 12 years? Thats funny because I used a 3570k for 10 years. Ah good times. Which is why I baby my cpu. I know its not known for longevity but I want it to last so I make sure it doesn't exceed 1.3v unless I specifically need a lot of cpu power for something. I'm hoping maybe, if I'm really lucky it will live a long life.

I went from 11600k>13600k>14700k in like two years.... I want to stop that kind of behaviour, not good on the pocketbook.

Nice, you mean you went to 14700kf, in my case going from a 12700K wonder if its worth and how much i miss the igpu
Atm i think the igpu works or am i wrong, is all coming from gpu? screen is connected to gpu by displayport, see my current idle it logged it with lets say 6 watt

almost 12years in use indeed the 3770

Unless you have Intel iGPU drivers installed and are doing something that actually uses its features like QuickSync the iGPU is essentially dormant.

Depends on the load. The 12 ecores really help with things like compression, decompression, loading, installing things, compiling shaders, anything that uses all threads. But I downclock them and undervolt them. I mean there's 12 of them I don't see the need for them to run at 4.3ghz. And lets be honest 14th gen was pushed too hard which is why I did that. Also, I don't think whether there's an igpu matters for idle. But not positive. I just got the kf because it was $50 cheaper. And if my gpu dies I have a backup 12100 I can use for graphics until gpu is repaired or I buy a replacement.

But as for games, I believe there is a decent increase in performance, even with the pcores turned down a notch. Even at 5.3 you would still see an improvement while keeping the excesses down. There's more l2 cache and more l3 cache ( I think the improvemnt is mostly in the l2 cache though). You can undervolt and downclock all while staying within the intel profile. Which is what I do. But I also game at 4k so if you say game at 1080p perhaps the calculation would be different.

Anyway multihread will improve dramatically and gaming performance moderately.

igpu drivers are installed, but the package power stays low during office work below 5 watts, this makes me wonder if the igpu does the light 'rendering work'

After todays research i doubt it well and are actually happy with its power consumption now somewhat
I undervolted and underclocked my 12900KS, 5.0 GHz all core, 1.2Vcore. I think it also has 5.2 GHz on 2 cores. It only uses like 17 W idle and 220 W max. The typical game load is like 150 W. It runs just about any workload I ask of it. I am on air and I see max temp of 80C on typical gaming loads.

Bartlett lake would be the better upgrade and not need a new board?

I would see no sense of upgrading, Alder is still more than usable and you would need to change the platform as well.

I MADE AN LONG 2 YEARS RESEARCH ,and IMHO 14600k is the best intel CPU ever ! Just install in on a good cheap z790 mobo, make a good tunning and you be amazed . Cpu is very flexible overclock on winter undervolt on summer, on Cinebench 23 you can get like 25400 multi score whit just 142 W or less . I cant see any reason to 245K.
