Hey,

I just got my new system with this MB

Gigabyte X870 GAMING X WIFI7 AMD Motherboard

Before i was using ROG Maximus XII Hero Z490 and with a logitech 5.1 surround system at the back of that MB it did have a orange audio output for centre speaker i belive.

but my new MB doesn’t have that audio output only green, black and pink.

does anyome know why this is and does this mean i can’t use the 5.1 surround system?

thanks

Did you read the motherboard user guide. It will be in there what the integrated sound supports and how to connect the speaker systems.

And for the record, I am not aware of any industry standard that dictates colors of audio ports.

Plug it into the pink one.

You can use Realtek Audio Console app to change the default "mic in" function for the pink plug to "Subwoofer/Speaker Out".

Thanks just sorted it. When testing with that program all speakers sound but the subwoofer test bass is very faint and weak.

in sound - options the enhancement feature is gone? How do i increase the bass

The signal to the sub is derived from the signal(s) from the left + right (and surround if enabled) in the speaker system's preamps. This makes sense, after all, since basic computer speakers - not to mention headphones - are only left and right.

So if your bass is too low, you probably need to turn down your mids and trebles, then turn up the master gain (volume).

Have you installed the audio drivers from the board's website? It's not that rare that a generic Realtek driver hass less options than the specific one for that board.

That is strange...Is there any chance you can plug two plugs in one output?

Huh? Do you want to rethink that "strange" question?

I wrote this in my Gigabyte X670E review

"On the rear IO we can see a number of USB ports in different colors, making it handy to identify quickly which ports are best for high bandwidth devices. While there's plenty of USB ports, Gigabyte seems to have taken a step back for its onboard audio solution. The rear panel only includes a Mic-In and a Line-out (Stereo). This will provide stereo audio, though, if you want 5.1 or 7.1, you will be required to connect additional cables to the front panel on the computer case. While 7.1 is supported, is it quite an impractical setup to run cables to both sides."

Basically to get 5.1, you need to use the front ports as well. Kinda means 5.1 / 7.1 is a pain to setup. It is all in the manual.

Of course you can. If you're strong and determined enough. And usually only once.

The manual for Gigabyte X870 GAMING X WIFI7 explains to use 5.1 you need to change it in software. Better than having to resort to the front case IO panel :)

Not sure how that works. How do you get center/sub out of the same jack?
My advice? use that SPDIF out, plug it into a DAC or receiver. You get much better sound that way.

It's bean a thing for years and was mainly for them PC 5.1 speaker setups using them small headphone jack style things.
A lot of them speaker setups used a single stereo jack cable and split it so one side is the center speaker and other subwoofer.

Ah ok, so it's actually center+sub. I read that as either or.
It's so sad to see that, while the prices only go up, connectors and features go down :(

I just had this issue connecting my PC via HDMI to a home cinema system. Cannot see the setting now as back at my desk but I think it was bass redirection in the sound settings.
