Amazing. RT 5030 /50 aka 5060/Ti should be powered by the slot. Not requiring any
Sure, but if 4060 on TSMC N4 did 115 W, then the 5060 on the same TSMC N4 has to eat more in order to be faster. Unless there's architectural improvements, of which there are plenty of, right? Right? :p

RT cores are wasted on this card but since it's getting mandatory. Only good with upscaling some cases even multi frames, I use FSR3

My 2080 Ti /w 4352 Cuda is essentially the same thing 4X the die size. and I run it at 200Watts so 5060 should be 50 Watts.

But now with GDDR7 it's closer to a 4070 in performance.

why not 10W?

power doesn't scale like that

Its pretty easy to see that the 4060ti 16GB has no use for all that VRAM because the bandwidth is entry level and identical to the already bandwidth limited 8GB card. We'll see what GDDR7 does for the new crop of x60 E waste.
Also note games are all tested at max settings (necessary for a fair comparison), but that's not how you run the more demanding games of a x60-class GPU.
But yes, let's wait to see if GDDR7 can put that 128bit bus to better use. Won't be long now...

128bit bus seems fine (the 4060ti 16gb version had no problems, when it was on pcie 3 or higher) but the 3gb vram chips can't come early enough, 12 gb would be really nice.

If they do a 5030 with 8 GB VRAM, no power connector and half-height (true SFF) version, I'll upgrade my HTPC with it. Maybe. :D

Afaik, Blackwell is a beast when it comes to encoding/decoding, so from that pov it would be a great pick for a HTPC. Though it remains to be seen whether the video engine in 5090 will carry over across the product stack or it will see some downsizing in the lower end parts.

When you've evidently hit the bottom, and then discover you can go even further down :D
Bottom? What happened with decent low-end cards like the 1030 GDDR5 or 1050 Ti? I miss them so much. :(

They don't make much sense anymore, IGPs have caught up with them. I don't miss them much, but they came with the advantage of VRAM, so they wouldn't eat into the system RAM and be dependent on how fast that is.

Not to mention, you need a full system upgrade to have a modern iGPU.

Yeah Nvidia quit that part of the market.

I still feel my GT 1030 was a great purchase, wont ever sell it. Luckily iGPU is more common on AMD side now though, so it does reduce the need for these dGPU parts. Ironically now out of support for latest drivers though.

Same with mine. And my passively cooled 1050 Ti (Palit KalmX).

What are you running?
Well, my personal rig has an integrated Iris Xe GPU, but that's only for office/web/photo/video tasks, which it handles extremely well & is all I need for those things, thank you !
But back when I used ATX rigs, I had a top of the line 2xxx & 3xxx cards, so I understand GPU performance for what it is.

However, my son's gamin rig runs a Radeon RX 7800 XT, which will be replaced with a 9070 XT when they come out....

I only see you posting in the news section and never anywhere else

Should you even be posting about current hardware
Sorry, but I did not realize that members were required to post in any particular or multiple sections, be it about current or legacy hardware or otherwise....and I have posted in other sections from time to time, occasionally offering advice or suggestions on various topics that are discussed there too...

BUT, if it makes any difference, I will now re-read the membership rules & requirements just to make sure that I am in full compliance with them :D

And just to be clear, my "gimpy/wimpy" comments were about the "massive" performance increases that nGreediya always promises but only delivers as little as possible, which has happened with every new generation of their GPU's since way back....
