Welcome to the Forums!

Afterburner should work with your card; it works with pretty much everything.

Quick guide to get you 90% there in afterburner:

After installing Afterburner, go into the settings and enable voltage control.
In the main UI, max out the Voltage and Power sliders.
Press Ctrl+F to open the Curve Tuner.
Upper right are some settings; have it scan the curve.
Once it is done, save the OC to a profile, and set it to automatically apply at startup!

From there, you can manually tweak the OC to your liking.
Appreciate the quickstart. This is the jayz2cents video i was referring to.

I’m getting the 5080 though.
Also got a new lianli case, and it’s so new, i actually couldn’t find a whole lot about it on the joogles, CG237
Couple of pics attached here pre-build. Coming from a lancool 2 mesh.

Hey everybody, it’s my first post here (just found this site!)
Indeed, Welcome to TPU!
Zotac amp extreme infinity
The 5090 or 5080 version?
I saw a video on zotac’s software being terrible and that afterburner doesn’t support the zotac cards, have you all seen anything further on that (might have been jays2cents)?
I saw that too. Unless you're really wanting to OC right away, you should expect the Zotac will fix and improve their software. They usually do. With the 5090, OCing doesn't seem all that important or useful. The 5080 however can OC a bit better, so depending which model you bought... EDIT: I missed that you said a 5080 earlier.

Looks like we have a confirmed power connector failure on a 5090, with the issue apparently arising from the power supply side:

https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1ilhfk0
I disagree with the comments in the thread there regarding third party cables, following the logic displayed on Reddit, any power supplies with native 12VHPWR compatibility would count as third party by default. My personal advice in this situation is to use a high-quality, 16 AWG or thicker cable, before installing my 5090 I am probably going to order a brand new custom kit just to be on the safe side. This, of course, applies to the 4090, 4080 and 3090 Ti as well

I also subbed. I had only recently heard of that brand of cards.

Palit is a large manufacturer and they have been around for a very long time, too. They own the Galax/KFA2 and Gainward brands, also manufacturing custom designs for ODMs and system builders. Cards are quite reliable, and it was surprising to see the GameRock at MSRP this generation. It's not my favorite design, but the ASUS tax was way too much for me with the price hike on the 90 tier.

I have heard of Gainward. I wasn’t passing any judgement, I just only recently became aware they made nvidia cards. Are they available in the US? I’ve never seen them on a store shelf or on any of the online retailers I shop that I know of.
Also, is there a trial period or something before comments stop being held for moderation? I had posted some of the info lex asked last night but the comment wasn’t released until after he had asked. Etc.

Don't worry, it's just because you registered recently. Some of your posts might need moderator authorization to go through, but don't worry, they always look at it and after a little while, they won't be held up for review anymore. :)

I believe Palit/Gainward cards usually sell more in Europe, South America and the Asian markets. I believe they do exist in the US, but it's not a top brand over there. AIB market tends to be smaller in NA because first-party GPUs directly from the manufacturers (such as NVIDIA FE and AMD MBA cards) are available and generally more affordable.

They also own both PNY and Galax, I used to own a palit 3650 and always knew them as reliable but also to be reptile lovers

EDIT: Also thank you for all the subs!

I was just reading 3DGuru about latest driver 571.x (for 5000 tho) that actually user tells he uses his old (AMD) PC until next driver, if works well...
... bc he fears the 5090 breaks somehow, related to some old drivers already did that by NVidia and he would not try his luck.

I'm sooooooooo happy on my 7800x3d/4070ti, i just had luck on the GEN i buyed my strongest PC in my life, GPU has been a bit pricey (1000), ATX 3.0 has updated to 3.1 the day after and that's no luck, but overhaul perfect.
Next GEN will/could even be a worst experience than actual one, it can be worst and worst until... fixes.

I just got stitched up, wondering why the hell my boost clocks were stuck at 2500 regardless of the game I ran... reconnected all the cables reseated GPU ... then I uninstalled every driver and OC app, it turned out to be the thundermaster app for palit lol, uninstalled for life! Back to sweet 2900-3000mhz with just the nvidia and auto tune. I gotta stop f*cking around with a 5k AUD GPU LOL.

Beta Tester Update:
- When changing the voltage on NVIDIA app or Thundermaster this will bug out the GPU clocks and you will either get stuck on 2d clocks or lower 3d clocks. Tis a known bug with drivers it seems..

5080 showed up at my doorstep yesterday, there's a bit of a story to it, but what a lovely surprise and present this is.

Technically it's longer than my case says it supports, (331.9mm vs a max stated of 330mm) but my word it fits like a glove. Needed to remove two bottom rails to get it in, but then it popped in perfectly with barely a mm or two to spare. Glad I ordered the 180 degree adapter too, and the slimmest one I can find, it's 10mm-ish possibly even less from the glass side panel.

Feels like min maxing what I can fit in the case that's for sure, and for some time now I am set, 9800X3D and 5080 should satisfy my thirst for a while.

Now onto overclocking and tweaking!

You know, the Gamerock seems to be growing on me with the more pictures I see of it. I might end up actually liking it on my machine. Man, sucks being on that wait list.

I'm not a big fan of the way the 'face' looks, the side with the 3 fans, but the side view when horizontal mounted is nice, and the metal finish seems so close to the NR200 it's like it was made for it.

Big uplift over a 3080, getting more FPS at native+DLAA than I was leaning into DLSS before.

My card and PSU should be arriving soon. I got everything prepped and installed today except the AIO, it blocks the cpu power cables so it has to go in after the PSU. Looking forward to popping this zotac 5080 in! Here’s some pics of the prep work (so far, definitely the cleanest wiring i’ve ever pulled off, lol):

Not sure where the issue is coming from (nVidia drivers, or MSI Afterburner), but a few times, I have had the GPU get stuck at 750~1500MHz max.
What worked for me was to uninstall RTSS and Afterburner, DDU, Install Drivers, then install Afterburner again.

If you wanted to try power tuning a different way, try hitting Ctrl+F in Afterburner and scanning the curve.
After the scan is finished, save it to a profile, then open the curve tuner again.
Shift+drag to select all points to the Right of 950mw (you will see them selected, when they are in a blue box), then click on a single point and drag it way down.
Hit Apply in the main Afterburner window to flatten the curve past 950mw, and you are golden for power!

I do not recall, if I used 975mw or 1000mw as my flattening point, but I dropped the power draw of my 5090 to a hair over 500w, with perhaps ~2% performance loss, in this way.
The further down the curve you go, the better your efficiency gains will be!

EDIT:
Important note for curve tuning!
Make sure to have the fan at 100%, and to have the room as cold as possible (window open, if in winter!).
The reason for this is, there is no fixed clock bin for each voltage level.
Instead, the clock bin floats, depending on the temperature.
If you tune your curve with a hot GPU, then run it cool, it can give you errors, as it is clocking higher than is stable for the voltage level.

For me after I didn't do Auto Tuning in Nvidia app clocks are always fine. And that's with OC in Afterburner.
But I didn't touch voltage, don't even have it enabled in Afterburner. Just power limit raised and clocks.

That looks like a tight fit. Is ventilation an issue?

Not at all, it's similar now to how my 3080 was set up deshrouded. I used a little bit of foam to 'seal' the face of the card against the bottom vented case panel, so it only draws in cool air, the CPU fans intake for the back too, and the top two fans exhaust. Subjectively it feels like quite a bit of airflow out the flow through section of the card and at the top of the case. Temps are great.

It's very tight though, I can no longer fit the phanteks rgb strip around the card at all and it's only about 4mm thick.

My zotac 5080 and new psu showed up today. I got everything installed, got the case all together, kluged together the lighting, realized i didn’t install the cable for the zotac’s lighting. Decided that could wait another day, and ran some baseline 3dmark benchmarks with everything bone stock, no cpu overclocks or messing with power, expo timing profile on the ram, no fiddling with the gpu clocks or power. Some pictures of my afternevening:

Looks like my pics are too big, i’ll post the benchmark screens in another post
