People leaving reviews on GOG should be reviewing ONLY the GOG version. I really wish GOG would put an end to that kind of thing by requiring that the reviewer actually own the game they're reviewing. I have very few complaints about GOG, that is one of the most glaring.

In certain areas, where jumps are involved, I'm having to switch to tank controls just to make the jump and grab. A means to an end I suppose. But of course, AOD is not a grid based game like its predecessors and is primarily designed for mouse control.
In Derelict Apartment Block there are several jumps that I had to do with tank controls and then revert back to modern.

Having said all that, it's definitely easier to control Lara than the original game, thank goodness! Not perfect, but very playable.

... i tried the 4-(5-6), i thinked i was dying, so much the controls are not possibly adapted/enjoyable/implemented/usable/interesting/(...........) (yes switch to tank, but it's a remasterbug).
It just reminded me a thing i was thinking was going verry bad when those games were out at their time... (like using Resident Evil controls for a TR game, lol no not a good idea, but at this time it was the thing to don but a dev is not forced to do something fashionely).

It looks verry bad remaster compared to 1-2-3.

I've yet to form a definitive opinion on 4,5 and 6 because I've only played half an hour of Last Revelation and frankly, glad to be past the kiddie training level. I've played 5 hours of AOD and I've only just reached level 4 out of 29, which is roughly how long it's taken me to get used to the controls.
Chronicles, I haven't touched yet.
But I can say that 1, 2 and 3 were always my favourites and I finished them several times over down the years and am loving those remasters. The grid controls are now second nature to me in those games, so one could say that AOD is a bit of a hybrid.
As for LAU, I'm not sure if they need a remaster, especially Underworld, because it still looks great in my opinion.

I'm not sure that would change what I was trying to say in a general sense though, because even if that same reviewer had bought the game on GoG, they could be playing it through Heroic Launcher on the steam deck. My original post was just saying how SteamOS might be the culprit for his bad review, and that would not change if he bought the game through GoG and played through Heroic Launcher on the Deck.

I will say this though, I just got an OLED 1440p monitor, and my rig will play the 2013 trilogy of Tomb Raider games maxed out at 240 fps on the 240hz refresh panel... its going to be damn fun replaying them, as well as these older ones too (but less so, cause I can't use all my bells and whistles).

Of the older TR games, Anniversary is still me fave by far, though I realize some might not consider it one of the really older ones. I DID try the earlier games, but was put off by the clumsy platforming due to older animation tech and limited camera angles. I made the mistake of buying Angel of Darkness, what a buggy nightmare of a game that was.

After Angel of Darkness, it's Legend, Anniversary and then Underworld, in that order. But frankly, playing Anniversary first, which is a total remake of TR1, wouldn't make any difference to anything.
Yes, the 2013 Survivor trilogy is a whole new beginning.

thanks, I don't own legend or underworld, so that's why I was a bit confused. I will remedy that next time there is a big steam sale. I'm going to binge Anniversary for now, its really good actually, wish I didn't wait this long

edit: correction, I do own them on GoG, I forgot, must have got them free as Prime games or something a long time ago lol

AOD is much better than I thought and Core design must have put a lot of work into it. There don't appear to be any tombs yet, but there is a lot of innovation with some rpg elements, a stamina meter and some challenging puzzles.
Anyway, after some exertion, Lara needed a drink, but perhaps one too many!

The Crystal Dynamics trilogy (uh, the first one) is technically a reboot too - despite Anniversary being a remake of the first game it’s tied into Underworld and, from my understanding, those three are considered a separate timeline from the Core games.
Anyway, if we ever get that trilogy remastered the best thing that would come of it is getting Underworld DLCs on PC. They are stuck on console as of now since that was a silly trend among game publishers at the time due to “low PC sales” or whatever. Same as with Prince of Persia 2008 Epilogue. Only that one will probably never see the light of day on PC since Ubisoft are… well, Ubisoft.

Looks the n°1 fan of the series, it has so much savegames that we can't miss one in case we loose our's.

It appears that the GOG version of TR Remastered 4-6 is different from the Steam version with proper water reflections. The same happened with the 1-3 remasters on Epic, so this is confusing.

It's six of one and half a dozen of the other, from what I can gather from the Tomb Raider Forum where they pick the bones out of everything, literally.
I won't post links, but the same issue has been posted on X and Reddit.
It seems that the GOG version is older, yet has good water reflections but not remastered some of the characters. A bit of a mish mash.
For those of us with the Steam version, it would be best to wait for patches.
