The problem being, you can spend €1300 on an amd gpu and you will still come up with the odd game that a 3080/3090ti will be on par with a 7900xtx.
Devs don't bother their ass targeting AMD hardware because its such a small %.
Even if a game is AMD sponsored it will generally still run fine on Nvidia.

Another example: ray traced games run like ass on AMD because AMD's RT hardware is inferior, and not because games are targeted at Nvidia.

Also, don't forget that your PS5, Xbox, and basically all handheld consoles all run AMD hardware.

This is supposed to be a mid range card replacing the 7800xt/7900GRE which in EU are 500-600. This will be priced at 750-800, it's not mid range price.
It's the same dumb tactics as always that gets them nowhere.

Also in my EU region both 7900GRE and 7900XT are starting from 700€. Not 500€
And not just now… they were never cheaper except for the GRE for short time was at 600€.
But it’s months now that are very few on the market and with high prices.

You can buy 5080 in the UK right now for 1250. Even with the tiny launch stock, they're not going that fast.

Loads of places still have 7900xt in 600 price range.

These are going to sit on the shelves at more than 600 here... The whole market could collapse once stock increases.

Demand just isn't there.

Neither. RX 6700 XT didn't get a proper pricing, because of mining craze and covid. Its real pricing was 100$ less, or $379.
RX 7800 XT is a wrong name for something which should have been named RX 7750 XTX or RX 7800.

I'm talking about MSRP, not retail price. I agree, "7800 XT" is the wrong name, but exactly because it's the successor of the 6700 XT, not the 6800 XT.

AMD said they are targeting the mid range which is the 7700xt and 7800xt based on price. Cheapest 7800xt I remember seeing on launch was about €530. (because discounted almost immediately)

AMD are talking out their backsides as usual and this will be as much of a market shake up as the last gen, as in zero shakeup.

I would LOVE to be wrong. I despise the fact I have been buying Nvidia cards last couple of gens because they are so awful as a company. But when AMD just copies them what does one do.

Isn't it kinda obvious why I would compare its namesake vs the companies own previous products in the segment.

Months ago when these were announced a 7900XT was $999 and a XTX was $1299. I suggested at the time that in my opinion the retailers were in a real pickle if the card was as fast a 7900 series card with a 7700XT price it would be too disruptive to existing inventory. Now a 7900XT is $1699 and not nearly as available as before. It is sad where we live in a World where $1000 Canadian + is considered mid range.
