I really don't think that DIY composes the majority of GPU being shipped, and worldwide you have millions of people, students included who need a powerful PC for other stuff than gaming. Sometimes the school itself is going to buy a whole fleet of gaming PC. Nvidia market share started to shoot off once GPGPU became more common. I don't think that it's a coincidence. In the "GPU only for gamer" era, The market was much more balanced. But after 2014 ? And PC makers know that even their gaming laptops/PC are not exclusively bought by gamers. Hence why you don't see more prebuild/SI equipped with AMD gpus.
I will
never shut up about the fact that AMD being more aggressive when it comes to productivty support will help them. Let's assume that productivty is "only" 20% of Nvidia userbase. If AMD could only take half of that, that would be a lot. Just think of how awesome it would be to see a dell XPS, HP Envy, Thinkpad with Halo strix instead of a RTX 4060/5060. AMD killed the shitty MX geforce in laptops. great. But if you want to kill off the mid-range nvidia GPU being used in those premium prossumers laptops, you will have to offer more than gaming performance.

That is a daunting task for AMD and i see progress being made albeit expenssive for AMD to get there.
Now i saw a card which did this with the RX 7900 XTX but for me that card was even though i can afford it not really needed
So that is why i skipped buying it and now they pulled out of the high level cards building which i understand as well
Because their income dropped alot, it was a clear choice to step back out of the race for nothing
So i see it as a smart choice even when a card is very good it is burned no matter how good is performs as being garbage no matter if it does compete very well for a much lower price
I noticed the ones who show results only show certain places in a game where is for a few seconds beat the competition.
I put ngreedia in my NEVER EVER BUY that crap section for the rest of my life.
Fanboyish kills a real honest look at matters everywhere, i am no fan of any company they are all busy to make more profit and the fact that a large amount of people act like serious problems is nothing is beyond my logical brain.
AS I NEVER EVER WILL USE nonsense upscale garbage which does often are clearly failing i stay away from it till i probably die
What i have seen from upscaling it looks awefull no matter what reviewers are babbling and now i finally see others actually showing that it often fails miserable.
Sure in a century or more it will become better but for what i have seen by others who bought the insane expenssive cards it turned my stomach that they spend their savings for that worthless stuff.
Not even talking about the massive drop of FPS these technics do make in all games yes i can run all my games in 4K but as usual i turn it back as the GPU can not cope if you switch the settings to MAX, it all becomes a slowboat pain in the behind.
And is not being solved by any gpu builder yet, they still are not good enough
Which has been proven constant in my task to help people with pc problems no matter what brand they buy or like i always vent my reality view in these matters and give constructive advise.
Which is often what they do not want to hear, you have to switch back to much lower settings ....... to finally get what you want to see.
That is why 89% switched back to 1080p or 1440p on their sometimes massive monitors ...
