So it’s a slightly faster 4070S that also is more power hungry and… that’s kind of it? Cool new generation we have here, NV. I mean, I suppose that everything being equal in terms of price one would take the 5070 over the 4070S, but things won’t be equal, so…

What a disappointment. I thought that it would be much more faster than my current 3080, but far from it.

You can kind of understand why cards like 5090/5080 are absurdly priced because you can argue there is no other alternative but these lower end cards are going to look like a joke against 9070/9070XT or just plain older GPUs, even taking into account that none of these will be sold at MSRP.

Pathetic all around. Doesnt even max out the GB205 die. I guess they are leaving room for a 5070 super in the stack.

Awesome overclocking, 4070 Ti Super/7900XT level of performance for roughly the same power consumption, sad for the VRAM amount though, let's see if this MSRP will hold

So what's the point in the separate PCB with a PCIe slot? Unlike in 5080 and 5090 the main PCB goes all the way to the display outputs. Useless complications...

About 20% faster than its predecessor but about 15% thirstier. nVidia is really banking on AI compute I guess??
its not faster, its exactly the same card as 4070 super released last year , with same performance and same power consumption

Nvidia should just sell off there Graphics side of their company. I mean totally sell it off. IF nvidia wants to focus on A.I. then do so. Sell off the graphics side of the company so maybe we can get some good video cards again. If Nvidia want to sell off their 3dfx side of the company I will buy it.

@Lycanwolfen
There IS no “just graphics card” side of the company. It’s been GPGPU since 2007. That was NV goal all along, they never fucking claimed otherwise. I have no idea why people are surprised in year 2025 that a company that has been producing compute chips for almost 15 years is producing and focusing on compute chips.

Looking at this now; yea, holy crap, this is by far the worst card of this gen right alongside the 5080 (at least the 5080 had its own advantages over the 4080 even if it wasn't in raster), the 5070 has.. almost nothing. The fact it can OC so high is also telling. Barely faster than a 4070S / 4070Ti, while drawing more power than a 4070S, and similar fairly similar power draw to a 4070Ti. Literally no excuse. Awful. Literally hardly any improvements at all.

I keep seeing, "memory overclocking artificially limited by the driver," has anybody been able to 'crack' this?

Judging from die size, this is 5060 in disguise.
So kind of similar to how some people suspected the 4060 was actually planned to be a 4050 at some point? (I don't remember if there was any evidence showing that, though.)

"Extremely energy-efficient" where? It has the same efficiency as the 4070 Super, meaning 0 generational improvement, and worse efficiency than the 5080 and 5070 Ti. Moreover, the V-sync efficiency is much WORSE than in the 4000 series. The efficiency should be a drawback, not a strong point!

Nah, I seriously doubt Nvidia is selling any significant amount of gaming cards this generation. Sure, it sells ALL of them, or at least all that aren't scalped by 60 % or more - but the numbers are embarrassingly low.

What are they making, bespoke hand crafted equipment, each one painstakingly fabricated with hand labor?

But of course that is all planned. Nvidia has no need for gaming right now, so it is as much priority to them as it was during cryptomadness (read: not at all).
Between it being difficult to manufacture these things (otherwise we’d have dozens of companies and not 2) and AI demand. Again, simple supply and demand. The GPU (and the car or house you’re buying) is worth whatever the market is willing to pay for it.

If I was Nvidia I’d increase the MSRP to $1500. It’ll probably still sell out. If we as consumers don’t like it, we can just not buy it and they’ll lower the prices. Complaining online is just toxic and doesn’t do anything to the price

Looks like Nvidia expects everyone to give them the gluk-gluk 9000 AND pay for it.

AMD, goal is open, they take a shot and... Find out tomorrow

On what planet is a 4070 Super and 4070 Ti selling for $800? They're all over $1000, if in stock at all to begin with.

See, you had me until here. As consumers, it is our right to voice our discontent with the price or performance or features of hardware. Calling it "ToXiC" is corpo schlong sucking.
