LOL, this thread has officially been hijacked by a mod and a bunch of senior members. My apologies to the OP. SO, who has flashed their gtx260? Will I be the first to do it?:)

As if, I flashed mine first day I got it :p

Yeah, but neither board liked the Gskill's either, and they are Elpida chips. Oh, and it was the little brother to the Tpower that I had, but people were getting similar results with both of those boards. I did however notice that people were not obtaining high memory clocks on either board. I do hope someone proves me wrong though, and shows me some high memory clocks on p45's.

Wow, we are so off topic here. So, who has done the bios mod on their 260gtx? I'll probably flash mine this weekend.

I've modded stock and FTW bioses for voltage, fan speed both set and ramping. I just use the FTW w/80% min fan speed, ramps up at 75C to 100%. I really haven't noticed much other than heat increase with 1.18v, but everyone should try it that's willing...some have gotten some good out of it, others like me not so much.

My G.Skill elpida PC8000 kit (blue heatsinks) has a similar chip as the Pi's...works just fine in my P5Q Dlx P45 with and w/o Ket's modded bioses. I've had them up to 1100 2.1v just fine, though I have 4x1GB G.skill HZ D9's in my G/F's rig I've been contemplating swapping over...I really don't care about high memory OC's, I just wanted a cheap kit that could hit 1000-1100 speeds for cheap in 2x2gb, I spent like $90 on that kit, it's on sale for like $68 atm iirc.

Tom, the Maximus and Rampage are x38 boards, and I know they handle memory well. I'm saying that I've had memory problems with p45 boards.

actually the x38/x48 handled ram like crap at first , killing it very frequently, but my mistake I missed the P45 part.

Wow.... I don't think I want to know... Wait... I do... They can be real good over some logers! :toast:

Just did my month of downtime updates. Running the 177.98 drivers and the Physx 8.08.01 drivers, with the new Evga Precision tool update. I think I am good to go on benching!

Scores and thoughts later on!

Hmm, I see you got the hauppauge, I wanted it, but avoided it because I heard of 64 bit probs.. ordered an ati 650 theatre pro instead because it has specific xp 64 support. How is that hauppauge anyways?

Hmm, this msi theatre pro rocks! Who says nvidia and ati can't get along! Now if we could get some hi-def channels on regular cable I'd be set...

I never had problems what so ever with the Hauppauge. When the ATI all in wonders come out, I'm going to be grabbing one of those again.. God I miss my first one..

Now for the goods...
Vantage I did a few runs but nothing ss worth. 14326.. But, Mark06 didn't want to finish at bench standings.... so I have to see what's up with that. Am able to go higher clocks 740-1520-1260. Just 10 more on core then I was before, but fur and the Physx one's I can go higher...
I'll be doing more work at it with different oc. going to try more FSB at a lower Multi. Want to break that 20k mark on 06...

Yeah, i'm reading weird results in different forums about the .98s, seems alot of people have trouble with digital vibrance and a few other things... I haven't had time to test yet, still playing with new tuner card...
Yep, that's the exact same hauppauge I was going to get too.. but I'm very happy with this ati, killer tuners on it.

I think I'm gonna step up to the 216 core EVGA GTX260, it's the same price I paid for my GTX260 initially 2 months ago, before MIR and discount from Newegg (I initially paid 299.99, then got $30 back from Newegg and still waiting on $30 MIR).

I can step up to the new GTX with 24 extra cores for cost of shipping...what do you guys think? I think it'd be a good idea to have a little extra power for little extra cost. Plus it seems these use a tad less power somehow, run just as cool and OC just as well...so might as well have more power...I was thinking of going GTX280, but with the newer GTX260 216 I don't really see a need at this point for what I need...I don't even really need the 216 GTX260, but I want it...and for that price I think it'd be worth it.

I've never done step-up so if anyone can give me details, I have a few shippiing options, UPS Ground for around $5-6, or FedEx 2 day air for around $21. I'd be willing to go 2-day air for sure, plus I wouldn't mind playing with this new card and see if it can go further than my current card. I think I'm gonna do it, but I'd like to know more about how Step-Up works. Thanks folks!

I remember eVGA step-up being an excellent experience! http://www.evga.com/support/ Just give one of those guys a call! They will totally help you out in getting your new card as quickly as possible.:)

Set-up is easy to do. It just takes some time for it to get going... I think I waited about a month before I was able to send in my Gx2... but, it was a easy thing to do. No talking to anyone but sign up, start, and when they send you the e mails, you do it. Then send your card, and you get yours in two week tops...
But, a easy thing to do... Just once you do it, you can't do it with that same serial number card.

Well unless I decided to go for GTX280...which is crossing my mind..but the GTX260 Core216 (as EVGA calls it) will probably suffice...plus all I have to pay is shipping, I can pay around $6 for UPS Ground or around $21 for UPS 3-day, or $30 for UPS 2-day...I dunno what I'd do there...but I'm thinking getting in line, paying for 2 or 3 day service and going for the Core216...as I dunno if I can really swing for a GTX280 atm...it's be really close on budget.

I guess it's a good thing I still have an x1950xtx to fall back on atm if I do go thru with this lol!

:toast:

EDIT: Finally got a chance to read W1Z's review...really I see no true reason to spend $150+ shipping for a GTX280 at this point in time when the 650MHz 1050Mem Zotac can nip the heels of a stock 280. Sure I could OC the 280 and pull away, but I'm gaming at 1680x1050 lol...dunno if I really need the extra uummph the 280 has...maybe when 55nm is released in the future I may replace my card with that...I think I'll save a lot of cash and go with the 216 GTX260.

Well I signed up for Step-Up to the EVGA GTX260 Core 216, the only thing I'm paying is the $28 for 2nd day air...so now we play the waiting game in line lol. I'm pretty stoked to mess with the newer GTX260 and see where it goes as-far-as temps, OC-ability, performance, etc.

That's great to hear man! :toast:
The whole reason I went with the step-up is that the Gx2 was going down, and I mean way down in price and didn't want to lose more because of it... So step-up was the deal... I was only going to be paying for shipping when I did it a first because of myself grabbing the SSC version... But, when it went down to $499, they honored the price drop... It didn't mean anything with me because of only paying for shipping at the time.

You'll get a e-mail once the step-up is ready for you to pay for the card's shipping, then you'll get another one saying thank you and then please send the card here as RMA.
Just the waiting game! You'll see how fast it goes down after a week or so....
Good Luck man! And can't wait to see that baby! Might make me want to grab one to play with...

I was thinking of doing the exact same thing. However, I bought the card from Nflesher. Even though he didn't register it, I'd still have to do the step through him, since he's the original owner, correct? Do they go buy what the original price that was paid, or the price that EVGA is currently charging for the card you are trading in?

They go by the invoice that is on your profile.. You take a screen shot of the invoice, load it to their website, and they then check thew the screen shot about if it is legit.
I bet Nate would do it all for ya... all he has to do is reg, the card, do step-up, and then once the step-up is ready to start, you just send it in... When you send it in, all they care about is the RMA of it from what I know.. But, if you want to put Nate's stuff on the package then It would be better I bet.
But, they do it just by the invoice. I bet Nate can even change the shipping to you... Or, easiest thing, Call them up and ask... But, if it's from Nate, I don't see what would make him not help a Fellow out!?
