It's good to see you back on these forums Mr. Ismail and once again thank you for helping me out back in 2022 (page 7 of this thread) with the very successful NVME boot SSD upgrade to my aging PC (still my main PC).

One question that has been on my mind all this time and hopefully you will kindly answer is, besides the 500GB WD SN850 ssd I upgraded to, what other name brands/models if any are already baked into the bios file you configured for the original ASUS P6T?

but you can check your modded bios file to see what vendor and device id are contained within it and then using devicehunt.com find out what the NVMe drive and vendor are.
To see what in your bios or to be able to add a new vendor and device id i have written up a step by step guide

I’ve set up a new test environment based on a GA-X58A-UD3R board (Rev. 2.0, BIOS already updated — see my previous posts). To improve thermal conditions, I installed a CPU cooler that also provides airflow over the Northbridge/Southbridge and RAM banks — a critical factor for X58-based systems, especially under sustained load.
The board is equipped with 6 × 8 GB Crucial Ballistix modules (BLT8G3D1869DT1TX0.16FED, DDR3-1866), which pushes the platform close to its specification limits. Memory training and timing adjustments are still being fine-tuned manually. So far, the system has proven fully stable under load (gaming, file transfers >100 GB, stress testing).
A RTX 3060 Ti Mini (Asus, dual-fan design) will be installed next. The test run with the 3060 Ti is still pending.

Following that, I plan to restore and test an older Asus P8Z77 Premium board (paired with an i7-3770K). I’ll provide further updates once initial benchmarks and stability results are available — though this may take some time due to the workload involved.

So here's what I did:

I downloaded files via @catup post on Jul 18, 2024

mmtool322.exe
OpRomCfg.exe
NvmeOpRom.BIN

But the SABRTOTH.ROM file came from 2022_ASUS_SABERTOOTH-X58-1403-NVME_M.2_SSD_BIOS_MOD.rar.

I followed the instructions to make a TEST folder and put all files above in to it.
In CMD promt:

C:\Users\pc\Desktop>OpRomCfg NvmeOpRom.bin 2646 5028
'OpRomCfg' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

I releized that I needed to instal OpRomCfg.exe first. But I found out that I could not use/open the "OpRomCfg.exe" (a black window apear/dissapered) ?? I've also tried disable blocking of unwanted app in the system.

hello

i modded an Asus P8Z68-V PRO here so it can run a nvme, things went smoothly and are working fine.
also a MSI Z87-G45 gaming. in fact all computers in house run nvme as system drive now.

the X58-UD7 is provided with a waterblock for the northdridge. still thinking about it, problem being to find space to put the liquid tank, and the money to buy custom accessories that probably wont fit 15 years old waterblock.

as long as the IOH doesnt run over 60-65° all is fine here. problem being the summer and heatwaves. things get tricky then, when the room temp goes over 35°c, shutting down the computer and putting desktop fans on the NAS is the only way to go.

i wish i could get a 48GB ram kit. sometimes 24GB is just enough here (and i dont run 3x VMs for W.O.W.) i guess i'll have to learn how to close my browsers tabs (more than a hundred most of the time.)
