7000 series should not even be on the table unless it is XTX.. but even then.. meh.

I would go with a new 9000 series XT.

I am not saying that you have to change your chip. The 5800X3D or even 5700X3D are plenty fast. There was a time when the 9800X3D launched that every single X3D chip in my country was bought. Enjoy your chip there is nothing wrong. All I am saying is that you will definitely notice the newer chips with CPU intensive Games. I guess it comes to do does 90 FPS feel any different than 120 using a Freesync monitor. Of course the truth is no as the range for Freesync pro is 44-144 hz so anything in that range plays the same in feel as long as you are in that range. You don't have to upgrade unless you want to.
NGL I don't have the funds for any meaningful upgrades for a while now, and I'm not sure when or if I will be able to make that transition to an obviously much more expensive (than AM4) platform (AM5).
But TBH I don't really need it either, as in the last 5 years I rarely play anything. I've used to enjoy gaming much more than I do now.
I'm afraid I'm not the same person anymore, and that my game QC/expectations are gradually ramping up with an each year.
My best friend (the person I've played the most video and board games with) and I have reached a point where we seriously consider making our own game(s). We're getting more and more picky, and the fact the games are getting worse year after year, doesn't help the situation at all.

There’s zero reason to buy the 7900XTX over a 9070XT, the one (foolish) caveat being ai/prosumer workloads.

Until we see the next round of consoles 16gb won’t be the issue of a game running or not in the next two years.

It is interesting that people say As Rock. Maybe the fact they are much cheaper

Look at the review average. 4.5 does not translate to crap. It is obvious that those that are complaining are not people who own them. You know that this exact card was $869 Canadian. Right now that is $610 US and I am sure it came with a rebate or 2 free Games too. Adding more to the value.

the ones that complain are those in the reddit posts, which obviously owned one asrock 7900xtx with problems.Never saw someone complaining from XFX(ofc there are bad units in every brand, but from Asrock seems to be a lot of ppl who complain, and yet its 3 yrs of warranty with it, at least I can return it if something happens with it.And I can return it within 14 days of purchase.I wonder what will be the difference in performance when it have only x2 8pin connectors and much lower clock speeds than xfx model. In the xfx model for sure I know that its never dissasemled, have good temps and it passes every test that you can imagine but lacks guarantee and if something happens with it I can't be able to afford new one in the near future.

How many Games support FSR4? How many PC Games depend on VRAM? There is no comparison. The 9070XT is all propaganda vs 7900. Lest we forget that AMD said that this generation does not represent the high end. That means that the 7800XT or 7600XT are the 16GB cards that the 9070XT should be compared to. Now let's deal with consoles. The relevant consoles are AM4 RDNA2 based Games. That means that when Spiderman 2 launched I saw all the negative performance arguments so I bought it and it is butter smooth on my system. Regardless of what Ray Tracing or FSR argument. PC Games are still all about math. Disable your GPU and try to launch City Skylines 2 with your IGPU and you will understand. We make light of just how powerful modern PCs are.

Seems we consider now the third card.

First time i looked at the topic i thought of radeon 9070.

As a 7800XT owner: If I had to buy a graphic card now I would buy 9070 or 9070XT. I have not looked really in the finest details which to choose from. One of these two. Price vs performance vs build quality.

Until we see the next round of consoles 16gb won’t be the issue of a game running or not in the next two years.

16gib is bare minimum.
Same nonsense people wrote to justify their Nvidia 3070 back in the days with 8GiB VRAM.

It's not 2023 anymore. 16gib was maybe acceptable in 2023 for entry graphic cards like the radoen 7800XT. For retro gaming of course 4GiB / 8GiB VRAM is enoug. E.g. Subnautica / Encased and similar low end games.

I promise you As Rock is the only vendor that does not make me consider a Water block. The fans are quiet and most of the cards are true 2 slots. It is only because they are new and not established. For me they took MSI and Gigabyte's position in the budget AMD market in Canada. What is funny is that not all vendors in Canada sell As Rock merchandise. I can't remember if it was a 6600 or 6500XT but there was an As Rock that was the top selling GPU in Canada on Newegg for years. Thankfully AMD APUs have filled the budget gap but a 6500XT still smokes any APU except Phoenix Point.

I am really satisfied by my 7700XT asrock steel legend gpu quality now.Except the big delta of 30C difference.I couldn't fix it with repasting and I did pretty precise job repasting it.Never bothered with thermal pads because VRAM temps are good. And now there are plenty of ppl complainig about that exact Phantom Gaming model of 7900xtx with the same and even worse problems of 40c delta with hotspot hitting 110C on that exact model.

its 2.8 slot card I guess this is what refers to 3 slot card ,but for me I am used to it and it even doesnt look so big to me.Or just my case is vast :D BTW My 7700 is also 2.8 slot. Are there 4 slot cards ?

I am really satisfied by my 7700XT asrock steel legend gpu quality now.Except the big delta of 30C difference.I couldn't fix it with repasting and I did pretty precise job repasting it.Never bothered with thermal pads because VRAM temps are good. And now there are plenty of ppl complainig about that exact Phantom Gaming model of 7900xtx with the same and even worse problems of 40c delta with hotspot hitting 110C on that exact model.

its 2.8 slot card I guess this is what reffers to 3 slot card ,but for me I am used to it and it even doesnt look so big to me.Or just my case is vast :D BTW My 7700 is also 2.8 slot. Are there 4 slot cards ?
Sapphire Nitro+ 7900XTX Vapor-X is a 3.5-slot card.
One of the biggest, if not the biggest...

Benchmark Scores It's over 9000!
IMHO, I’d take the 7900 XT out of the equation. Even the 9070 non-XT offers similar performance for less money and includes newer tech. As for the 7900 XTX, it sounded fine until I read about the no-warranty part. That's a dealbreaker for me, way too much money to risk if anything goes wrong.

So, another vote for the 9070 XT here. If you're not upgrading anything else as you stated, and considering the resolution you play at, I think it's more than enough, unless you strictly need more than 16GB of VRAM, it's the clear winner for me.

Propaganda? Thats laughable. You’d have a point about vram if either card was sporting 8gb, but they don’t. Everything on RDNA 4 is an improvement over RDNA 3, whether it’s the encoder, FSR, RT, power, software support going forward, higher bandwidth display ports, and so on. Buying old tech in the same performance and price bracket is a poor investment unless it’s at a STEEP discount.

But I guess it’s irrelevant as the OP has chosen.
