I will join the chorus: 9070XT (coming from someone who runs a 7900XTX).:wtf:
100%. I sidegraded from a 7900XTX Nitro+ to an RX 9070 XT Pulse.

For "gaming only" the RX 9070 XT is an all-around better choice.
If RX 7900 XT performance was acceptable, an RX 9070 (non-XT) is a great choice, too.

Keep in mind, I bought the XTX because I wasn't buying into what little hype there was about Navi 48.
I was incorrect. I love my RX 9070 XT Pulse, over the 3.5+ slot XTX Nitro+. :D

is this 1200W be quiet! Dark power 11 platinum PSU gonna be enough and reliable for that 7900XTX Phantom gaming ? It's 110$ second hand. I noticed that this exact gpu model requires 1000W reccomended PSU

I can get brand new xtx with 3 yrs warranty
That’s a different story then, you mentioned in another post that the XTX model you found had no warranty, so I'm glad you ended up finding a brand-new one. Even so, I'd still lean toward the 9070 XT considering your resolution and the newer tech, as mentioned earlier.

That said, the 7900 XTX is a beast of a card, and if it's a good deal and you can actually benefit from the extra VRAM, it's definitely not a bad choice either.

I had to took same decision few weeks ago, and I went for the 7900 XTX reference second hand for same price of a 9070 XT, because I love water cooling and I didn't want to wait for the 9070 XT block to be available, I don`t regreat it, the XTX is a beast of a card.

Imo it's very difficult to make the case for 7900 XT/XTX cards whilst they're priced so similarly (or more expensive) to 9070/XT cards.

RDNA 4 already has features that aren't available on RDNA 3. Future software support will also favour RDNA 4. 16GB vs 20GB/24GB is barely meaningful at 1440p. Even at 4k you'll have headroom with 16GB. The efficiency of RDNA 4 is better, video encoding is better, production speeds are better, ray-tracing is better, upscaling is better...You get the picture. :)

I think Asrock is overstating the power requirements here.

I run my 7900XTX on a 750W PSU and on my previous setup with 5900X the power requirements was higher than now

On CP2077 the 5900X was peaking at 120+W and averaging at 105~110W.
7900XTX was peaking at ~380W (382W limit) and averaging at 350W.
I saw "GPU power maximum" sensor up to 500+W (short spikes)
Total system power consumption was about 500W avg and 600W peak, measured by the PSU itself.

With current system (9700X with 150W limit) the total system power is even lower.
9700X is averaging at 85W

Your 5800X3D is very similar to my 9700X in terms of power if not better. X3Ds are way under 100W on gaming.

TPU recommends a 750W PSU for the 7900XTX Phantom and a 800W for the Nitro+ and I find those recommendations legit if you want to run these GPUs with high power limits.

A system with 5800X3D + 7900XTX should be fine with a high quality 750~850W PSU.
No need for a 1200W. This is not a 14900K + 4090/5090 system...

And I think the 1000W description is because of that ASRock take in mind that people may use cheap chineese PSUs which watts are not as stated.By the way, I've seen mine 5800x3d peaking at 135-140w during stress testing without OC Anyway I ordered that platinum second hand PSU along with brand new 7900XTX+3 yrs warranty.Any ideas what to look for on the PSY when it arrives ,except the warranty sticker, bad cables?(I don't have multimeter tool and I am not touching working electronics with metal stuff, and I am afraid of electricity so that's not an option for me) I don't want to go "boom" or damaging the new hardware :D?

My 5900X could peak at 200W but gaming was a very different story. 80~110W depending the game.
Just like now my 9700X can be 150+W under full stress but on games is below 100W.
Like I said the 5800X3D should be around 70~80W at games. Way off the 100W mark.

Anyway... the Dark Power 11 is a great PSU, assuming its not damaged in any way.

Mine peaks at 120W when loading games but that doesnt count because GPU is doing nothing at that point.
So you cant just add 120W + the power limit of the GPU. It doesn't work like that.
I've spend too much time and studied to many HWiNFO screenshots regarding gaming sessions of my system.

Yep, sure. Not saying anything, just telling you what I see in my metrics overlay. "I am afraid of electricity because if it hits me - I can't hit it back" , and that's one of the reasons why I am avoiding to mess up with watts, volts, ampers, kilowatts etc. In fact I was having really bad grades at school in physics class.Unlike chemistry , the physics(which in our country educational stystem does include the electricity class, not sure how is it abroad) was never an understandable "language" for me :D

Update: I found XTX for 1790BGN with 3 years warranty but it's on ASRock Phantom Gaming
915€ that's quite expensive for an old XTX when it's on end of it's life.
How much does RX 9070 XT and RTX 5070 Ti costs in your region ?

In my region i see a RX 9070 XT as a best value gpu p/p vise then RTX 5070 Ti and RX 7900 XTX is the last.

Even RTX 5070 Ti is slowly dropping in price and overtaking RX 7900 XTX they are very close in price only 50€ difference but RTX 5070 Ti is a better gpu overall even if it's slightly more expensive.

€789? JFC dude...It sounds like I made exactly the right choice a month ago.
That's terrifying. I haven't gotten ANY news about any more drops since then.
You know what that means? You gotta be fast af boi.

I wouldn't call that 7900xtx is old and EoL.( If you mean old as for "used" GPU , then no - I found it with 3 yrs warranty for 1790 BGN).

9070XT is 1680BGN , 110BGN cheaper than the 7900XTX. 5070Ti is 2400BGN (~1200$)You can consider that here in Bulgaria for us thr bulgarians 1 BGN(lev) is like 1 euro, we get like ~1100 BGN minimum salary and majority of people work on minimum salary. For example 1 bread of 650g is 2 BGN, and bread is the daily food consumative for the bulgarian person,we can't eat a meal without it, maybe we are the only nation that do this :D(In some very very rare cases that currency difference is good, but in the majority - it ruins us. Here the 9070xt is the best p/p gpu as for the moment but I don't know man,really...I prefer the beefier one which is the last high-end of AMD rather than the newer midranger with less vram and worse GB/s bandwidth and other type of stuff. I mean, yeah...I am not the type of a person that can afford the latest best hardware on it's release, and every purchase I do of PC hardware and investment for my future use In the PC(on which I work and spend all of my days) I am trying to get the best out of it with sense of future proofingand reliability and prooven parts.I mean, yeah rn I can afford the latest GPU of AMD, but not everything new means good in every scenario.Especially if these features that 9070XT offers are not my priority :] Sure, the RDNA is good but hope AMD introduce RDNA 4 for 7000 series too,if not - that's fine,Im going to buy the high end model from 9000 series when its released, even if I can afford it years later.Maybe its just unfullfilled dreams...After all I have a goal and its reaching specific FPS for specific resolution for specific gameplay.

I saw that 9070XT with 7950X3D is producing around 150fps on 2k res in Squad. I believe that with little bit more raw powerfull gpu such like 7900XTX maybe I will hit 165 or at least 160.I am not nearly 7950x3d with my 5800x3d but yeah, who knows :))

Yeah, it's gonna be worse than it is. The thing is that we're levitating around those US prices, like it or not. So in the end we're gonna end paying up for it even if we're (in theory) not hit by it. Smile, it's only get harder...

But the xtx is faster. Why would you spend money to downgrade?

That's why I am saying that I can't afford new GPU every year and that's the reason I choose the older but prooven and more powerfull one (at least on paper and specs) rather than the newer midranger.Future is unpredictable and game developing even more.I can't rely on a GPU that is supposed to carry me trough future games that require some features of the ones that the GPU offers.Everything can happen, By the time this gpu take solid place in gaming the VRAM could not be enough or something else can pop out.I don't know, I just feel the secure choice is the older one. It's a give-take situation and neither one between these two is better option for some group of people

If I had xtx ,I woud upgrade to the next high end xtx that AMD would offer, and only if the upgrade is reasonable and worth the money.
Some people in this thread told that upgrading from 7700XT is not advisable. But according to userbenchmarks - the difference in performance between 7700 and 7900xtx is 66%

By the way this 7900XTX will be my first high end hardware.
I got gt 630 as my first one.
hd 6670 as a second
rx 580 sapphire
1070ti
then my current one 7700xt and tomorrow the 7900xtx will arrive.hope everything to be alright

My 5900X could peak at 200W but gaming was a very different story. 80~110W depending the game.
My 5900X doesn't peak beyond the 140s without PBO. My 5800X3D, uses much less watts, at least on my Asus ROG Strix B550 -F Gaming.
