AMD HD 2900Pro Cards Now Available on Newegg

How much should I sell my HIS X1950XTX for? I WANT ONE OF THESE!!! DaMulta - good timing!

Is it safe to assume that this card (which is a clocked down version of HD2900xt) still perform less than 8800GTX? I have been out of the loop for a while so don't know what is the top card for the moment.

look at those reviews on Newegg. Performance less than the GTS 320MB in Bioshock and Crysis BETA???!!! can't be, can it?

Newegg reviews can be extremely bias. I honestly don't think either card can run Bioshock or Crysis at 2560x1600

At that resolution, I think I'd pass. Only X-Fire or SLi of the decent cards can, but AA & AF had to be off I guess..

Yes but surely thats at stock, this card is aimed at taking on the 320MB 8800GTS.....I am sure if you get a good overclocker......800 core+ then it will better the GTS.

of course, sadly the majority isn't overclocker, but overclockee. With $30 more than the GTS, I'd do some research for reviews before I get it....

I wonder how much money AMD is going to make selling the R600 for 250$.

This of course means that no one is going to buy the 2900 XT anymore - it's as good as discontinued.

It's basically going to be just like with the Athlon 64 X2s - selling a lot at a really low price and still losing a lot of money.

That all depends. If these are cores that didn't make the XT grade, this will actually make them money, because they would've otherwise been discarded for a loss. Selling them for $250 is much better than discarding them at the cost of disposal.

:toast:

And with the 2950's coming up...they'd be stupid not to do this. And it also gives them a lead again in mid-range or upper mid-range performance. The x1950pro did a decent job for a while, I've been waiting for the 2900pro, I just hope I can swing the cash for one...

Lol......but do you think ATi is going to send them a GPU that dont overclock well? The early ones should overclock to increase the hype and sales........if these are B Grade chips (which they are supposed to be) do we really think they are all going to overclock to XT proportions when ATi could sell them as XT's and make so much more money.
Almost all of them will probably make it to XT speeds, but you will probably have to up the voltage and cooling on a good majority of them to do so.

I'm still debating selling my 512MB XT for a 1GB Pro. Then all I'll have to do is buy my water block, and clock it. Decisions, decisions.

Well some sites are saying that after the initial sales we may find less than 50% will overclock beyond 700 on the core although that may just be scaremongary to get everyone to buy them now! You never know with the hype that goes with a newly released card, especially one that seems such good value, I shall get a couple and if they cannot match my current card for performance I will sell them on. My wife ordered me a Sapphire 2900XT yesterday also kind of by mistake but it was a last one on a clearance deal for the price of a Pro (here in UK) thats where she made the mistake :D I will probably not even open that one and sell it as new on fleabay.

Good question. That review was probably rushed... the differences between the XT and Pro are weird when you look at al the results. DeMulta may have a point... wonder if this batch was done for marketing purposes.

Hopefully - we'll see MORE reviews soon, including OC'ing.

I wonder if you can flash this to a XT For Crossfire support with the XT/

That was my other thought. lol. But I would have to buy a XFire mobo.

If I clock stable at XT speeds WITH the stock cooler. I will try to flash it to the XT GDDR4.

BUT

You should be able to change the Device ID and keep the clocks the same....but(If that worked) you would be crossfire PRO in the end.

Yeah, it's a tough call. I just can't decide what to do.

I want Super AA

:)

ZOMG, about damn time they came out with these. Also, I must say, Im surprised at some of the folks wanting to sell an 8800 for the pro version of the midrange HD 2900 cards, warms my heart though.

Cant wait to get enough cash to get my mobo, cpu and new gpus...hopefully...soon.

But with a review sample hitting a core of 860Mhz it's safe to say that if most cards will clock at least to 800mhz they will at least be a match for the GTX at what.....less than half the price, I am considering selling my card and getting one, am waiting on DaMulta's mini review!

SOLD OUT!!!!

Wow that was fast
