Nope Distributors know better than users what performance are. You still have to add another $200 for a 4080

The best deal is the 7900XT for $1299. The 4070Ti is about $100 cheaper.

$1299 for 7900XT certainly isn't a deal, that's encroaching on XTX MSRP. Even AMD website has the MBA for $1200, fluctuates every day as they stick to exchange rate. My MBA was $1150. In the same 2 weeks, XFX MERC319 and PC Hellhound were both $1150. They just haven't really dipped again since then, strangely.

Not sure if you saw, I just linked the pcpartpicker list with XTX and 4080. Lowest available XTX is ASRock alone at $1600. Lowest available (if you discount PCCanada) 4080 is Eagle at $1700. The rest of the XTX and 4080s are all mingling with each other around the $1700 mark. Filtered out all the BS retailers.

4070Ti prices are not good at the moment, all are above MSRP. Eagle is close but no cigar at ~$825 equivalent

None of the prices are good but saving $400 is at least not bad. The AMD website does have them for good prices but I do understand what you are saying. We need cards to be cheaper but people keep buying them. I bet by Saturday all of those XTX cards will be sold out.

A 7900XT shouldn't be no more than £900ish($1000) or something for highest AIB and XTX shouldn't be no more than £1200($1400) tops in my opinion but you can see people will probably pay for that.

Welll when you convert $1299 Canadian it converts to $796 Pounds Sterling or $891 Euros. The pricing is not good but our Dollar sucks against other currencies.

Ironically the prices from USD to £ for a lot of PC hardware has been almost a straight conversion including VAT. I'm not sure if the USD MSRP are including tax or not?
So $900 for 79XT after conversion should be 796 as you said but it's £900 instead, a red devil and nitro+ is almost £1k for a 79XT.
$1000 for 79XTX is around £800 after conversion but its listed as £1000 including VAT.
So for me..79XT should be no more then £970 for the top end coolers and the XTX around 1100-1200.

I think US MSRP does not include tax.

MSRP does not exist over here. Only way to get that would be to keep refershing AMD site, but even then it's out of stock always and they do not ship to Poland so only if you have someone in Germany that can then send it to you, you can consider that option.
Did it that way with 6900XT that I have later sold and bought 3080FE also for MSRP, which I have sold for almost no loss and ended up with 7900XTX.
If not the fact that I could sell the 3080 I would have not bought it, but that way cost was acceptable.

I'd paid about the same price, not accounting for inflation for local currency, for the Nitro+ RX 6900 XT as I did for my MERC 310 RX 7900 XTX. (about 13xx USD then, and now). That is, it worked out to about 1350USD back in 2021 for the RX 6900 XT, and 1335USD for the MERC 310 RX 7900 XTX.

Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition is extremely taxing on the GPU. So much in fact, that capping the frame rate to 60fps brings virtually no benefits  The statistics below are from the benchmark at 4K max detail with global RT at normal and hybrid reflections. RT can't be disabled completely in this version, so I used the lowest settings:

4k.jpg
4k60.jpg

I got 64fps on average. Maxing out RT brings the frame rate down to only 46fps, although the visuals are quite amazing. Out of curiosity, I also benched the original version at 8K and 16K -- since the resolution scaling setting is missing in the Enhanced Edition benchmark. With RT off, 8K averaged 54fps and 16K was 30fps :D

MSAA is an ancient form of anti aliasing which scales extremely poorly with resolution, most games these days don't even have it.
It may be the second oldest method, but it still produces better results than modern techniques. I personally hate the smeared fuzzy overall look resulting from applying post-processed or temporal anti-aliasing. The problem with MSAA is the huge computational cost, as it renders parts of geometry at 2/4/8 times the native resolution. Not even current gen cards can handle this load effectively at 4K.

Anyone has some experience using Dolby Atmos soundbar VIA HDMI?

I bought Creative Stage 360, they have Atmos support, connected them by HDMI to 7900 XTX and it detects it as second display...
Seems to be common and no fix for it, when you disable the "screen" it also disables audio.

But since I have LG 42C2 that has HDMI ARC and soundbar has it as well I figured to connect it that way, so LG to the GPU with HDMI and soundbar to the screen with HDMI ARC. It works and sound is playing through it but here we have a second problem.

I Cannot enable Dolby Atmos for Home Theatre in sound settings, it just returns to disabled and sometimes gives off an error that something went wrong and it Cannot be enabled. That happens even if soundbar is connected straight to the GPU as a second screen.

Nothing that I've tried worked. And since it's using AMD High Definition Audio driver for sound when using HDMI I figured that it might be a driver issue.

Tried deleting IT and using default Microsoft one but then I don't even have an option to select Dolby Atmos.
Only other thing I can think of is the cable itself so I bought certified Ultra High Speed one and will connect it later but maybe someone tried it that way?

I had my RX 6900 XT connected to my monitor via a DP1.4 cable, and a HDMI cable to my Philips B97 soundbar, and I do recall seeing DOLBY ATMOS lit up (in a couple of games) on the display. I think you'd have to enable or set it to Atmos/7.1 or something in the audio panel. Can't quite recall as I've not been around my rig for 3 months or so, so random audio settings' kinda of fuzzy now.

And did it detect it as a second screen?

To use Atmos you need Dolby Access app. You then go to audio settings and in Spatial Audio (in windows sound settings) you need to select Dolby Atmos for Home Theatre. Problem is I Cannot do it for above reason.
I can enable Atmos for headphones which I use for my Xbox Wireless Headset, but not that one.

It should even work without soundbar as C2 Has Atmos support but same issue happens.

You should connect the Creative directly to your PC via the onboard audio.

Atmos works only via HDMI. Won't work through AUX or Optical.

Well new cable did change something, my wifi card does not work correctly...
I have PCIE wifi card and its antennas are pretty close the HDMI cable. When using old one it works normally, when connected with new one it looses connection every second.
My god.

EDIT
I have three HDMI cables, connected the one I've Had before - wifi works, connected the one I found - wifi works, connected the new ultra High speed one - wifi breaks...
I have never seen anything like it.

Turns out HDMI cables can make a lot of interference if not shielded correctly. Found similar issues on google. Thing is this was not some cheap cable, it was pretty expensive and even had HDMI cert on the box that you could scan to confirm its authenticity.
Well now I need to return it. But Atmos did not work on it anyway so it was not cable.
Back to square one.

If anyone in canada is looking for a deal, couple Red Devils left on Amazon. MSRP for a Red Devil, not bad at all.

It says delivery date unknown, but mine also said it would be weeks out - ended up shipping 3 days later from Kent WA I think. Obviously, ymmv

Regarding the issue with Atmos. Got confirmation from AMD that it is a driver issue. Probably not a top priority on their side so maybe it will get fixed in a year.

Far Cry 6 with max settings and HD textures is CPU bottlenecked @ 1080p and 1440p until you enable RT. Capping the frame rate to 60fps offers sizeble gains in terms of power usage @ 4K:

4k.jpg
4k60.jpg

Above is the benchmark in max detail w/o RT and AA. TBP is 156 W less (45% lower consumption), GPU temps down by 9 and 18 C. Then I ran it @ 8K and got some surprising figures:

8k_max.jpg

Far Cry 6 knows exactly how much VRAM your card has  Some impressive utilization! Although the frame buffer wasn't overfilled, the 8 fps average was much lower than what I'd seen in other games. I looked at the statistics and noticed that peak main memory usage was 13.9 out of 16 GB, with a huge 23 GB swap file  So at this resolution the game needs more system memory rather than VRAM. I knocked the settings down a notch and got much higher frame rate:

8k_high.jpg

That's nearly 6x more fps, even though VRAM utilization barely changed! But max load for RAM dropped to 10.6 GB. All things being equal, I'd never expect main memory to have such impact on frame rate :wtf:

Well i've been having some issues with Warzone 2 since they have done updates for the game, the game would randomly crash on the landing and I was experiencing random frame drops too.
Long story short, i've disabled surface format optimisation in the Amd drivers and it seems to have resolved my issue.

Well It's been a week and I can say with confidence that the 7900XT is a great replacement for the 6800XT. I started a new Campaign of Everspace 2 and it is so smooth that I have been playing while working from home. The cost savings vs even a 3090 is tremendous. The performance difference will not be felt (Outside of Benchmarks) for the XTX either as 20GB of VRAM is nothing to sneeze at. I absolutely love my Gaming PC. I can't wait to use my work bonus to get me a 7900X3D so Space Lynx can have my 5800X3D (lol) and run it with this monster. With the size of modern heatsinks there really is not a difference in max temps with a water block but the single slot and the speed of going to idle temp are great pros for a Water block. The ARGB on Alphacool blocks is pretty cool too. Well done AMD, regardless of the narrative you still give me that smile that compelling hardware gives you if you are into Computers like me. The price is the best though $1299 sucks but is better than $1699 for the XT or $2400 for a 4090 and the 4070TI is cheaper but has less VRAM than the 6800XT. I started playing Greedfall and wow.

The Division 2 perfectly illustrates the difference between VRAM allocation and actual requirement. Regardless of resolution, the benchmark allocates roughly the same amount -- 15 GB on a 7900XTX. However, the game needs much less memory to play perfectly well. I'd previously tested it on a 6600XT with its 8 GB of VRAM. Using the same settings, the benchmark allocated only 6 GB @ 1080p and ran silky smooth with 67 fps 0.1% low.

In terms of efficiency @ 4K, capping the frame rate to 60 fps lowered the consumption by 109 W for 31% savings, alongside lower temps and fan noise:
