Here are two of the first high-resolution pictures of the Ryzen 7 2700X 50th Anniversary Edition commemorative processor by AMD. It turns out we were right in guessing that it has special markings on the IHS (integrated heatspreader). Turns out, you get a facsimile of AMD CEO Lisa Su's signature, in addition to the AMD-50 logo above the main Ryzen logo. The box itself sees black replace gray as the primary color, and gold replacing auburn/orange in most places except the main Ryzen logo on the front face. A Wraith Prism RGB cooling solution is included, just like normal 2700X PIB packages. Early listings of the processor pinned its price around USD $340, a premium over the $295 price the Ryzen 7 2700X is typically going for.

signed by Lisa Su... like who gives a crap... if I literally wait 30-60 days longer I can get the far superior 3700x for probably around same price if not less... lol wow...

honestly this whole stunt is making me wary of AMD a bit. the ego. when they haven't even beat Intel as best gaming chip yet.

50 years in the tech industry is an era. They needed something to celebrate it with.

The fanboys who buy this aren't going to install it. They'll probably show it off on a wall hanging or something, or keep it box-sealed as a collector's item.

Sleep on the wrong side of the bed? No one is forcing you to buy it and let AMD have their moment. A company surviving and thriving for 50 years is commendable; lots of companies don't make it this far.

Whoever is stupid enough to buy this probably deserves it.

I can see why they did it, no different to Intel releasing the 8086k CPU a little while ago (I forget how long ago it was...) but I don't see any problems with either side doing it. If I had the cash, I'd probably buy both :)

It's in good taste, just like the 8086K.

you do not need to buy it, it's not causing you any harm nor anyone...

I am more annoyed by the GT1030 ddr4, the RX580's with 2048sp and that kinda crap cause it actually gives people less than what they expect.

would get this one if only they put real 24 carats of gold on top of it. lol

My opinion is, that this would've been a better celebration, if it were with Zen2 and Navi. Especiaply if both will come this year. They could've just slammed that extra 50-100$ to the best available products and go with it limited.

Although I am happy for AMD hitting half a centurie and still competing an at least 10 times bigger corporation. Gaming is not the only usage of computers and not being the fastest is not being useless.

Who's to say that they won't release a golden jubilee version of the two, later in the year?

No surprises ?
Maybe a secret ticket for an 3700x at launch day plz ?

IMO the Box looks Fake - look at the location of the QR:
It's not the Official Box Render/Image.

it's just a place holder IMO- and the real 50th anniversary would be better[Hope].

Eh, It would have been much wiser to wait for Zen 2 and release an anniversary edition from that.
That would sell like candies, but I doubt this will, knowing that the next generation is coming in a few months.

AMD is milking the last piece of Ryzen 2000 series before the 3000 series and whatever $$ they can get now is just extra gravy like the 8086k. Can't blame them; it's good business sense to make limited editions

If you're going to mark the moment, at least show that you care. Give users something more than stickers. Not that Intel did any better with 8086k - they tried to give us a slightly better chip (that turned out worse in practice) so at least they shown willingness.

Hell, even if AMD got all former CEOs to sign besides Lisa Su, that would have shown way more involvement.

I doubt the signs of some of the former CEOs would be such a great move, Hector nearly drove AMD into the ground & there are a few others who are even worse!

The current AMD is thriving & kicking due to Lisa & the last CEO as well as Keller, Papermaster etc. This AMD doesn't owe much to the series of "oops" their previous leaders pulled off for nearly a full decade!

oh my AMD taking the pee, for someone who sticks the box in the bin it is useless and how often do you look at the top of the cpu once for me when fitting . there trying to sell sand to a Arab or snow to a eskimo.

During his time AMD was objectively ahead of Intel in pretty much all metrics, it was also during that time when Intel started paying off billions in bribes to exclude AMD out of the market. I reckon it was one of AMDs best times (technologically) hence why Intel tried pulling every trick in the book to drive them into the ground. Not to mention that the dreaded ATI acquisition is the only thing that kept AMD afloat until not too long ago, though I am sure many would like to debate that.

They overpaid for ATI. Hector also spun off GF, settled with Intel out of court when in fact a favorable verdict would've paid a lot more, lastly took a golden parachute & then became Chairman of GF after leaving AMD in the doldrums :shadedshu:

Hardly someone worth mentioning in the same breath as Lisa.

Does Lisa Su's signature allow overclock or improve performance? It is not a game or a movie, it is a processor. Please no more stupidities ...

They real question is, what are the specs? Will they be binned? Will they be clocked higher? I hope so because Ryzen 3xxx are on the doorstep.

IIRC 8086k had a commemorative name and clocked a bit higher.
selling 2700x for more with CEO's signature is just insulting to intelligence, but hey,it's amd so it's gonna sell to the niche who can't shut up about Intel CPU's value in every thread.

In some ways, some will think what the heck and others will say what a great idea regardless of AMD, Intel, Nvidia etc... All we are doing is giving personal opinions at the end of the day and if you want to buy it you'll buy it, if not then obviously you won't :)
I don't see much of an issue really.. Yes it would have been much nicer for them to have used a newer product like the 3700X or something and made it a little special but I'd have liked to have seen a bit more of a higher clocked version than just something that's stock in another pretty box.

yup,but like I said,it'll still reach its buyer.it's not for you or me.

Ryzen 7 2750X (or 3750X) with base clock of 4GHZ and boost clock of 5GHZ
