Anyone with true HDDs still around here?

subscription services are not reliable, you can lose your paid stuff at any time
cloud is just other peoples computers, it has security problems

I'm still old school, i prefer to host my own files.

I've got a 1TB that has archive documents type stuff, pictures, and a little music on it but all real day to day usage is SSD.

Yeah, I use HDDs on a daily basis. My main rig currently has a 320 GB 2.5-inch Hitachi TravelStar HDD at 5400 rpm that I installed for the fun of it to see how it performs and for the facts that it is inaudible, small, low-weight, cold, relatively fast due to the increased platter density and it barely consumes any power (around 1.5W while operating). I also have around 20 more HDDs ranging from 250 GB to 2 TB and I will use them at one point in time. I have paid for them so why not - I am definitely not going to toss them away or sell them for peanuts.

I also have a bunch of SSDs, so yeah, I am not coming out of a cave but I have a soft spot for HDDs. I grew up with them after all...

I have 2 NAS Devices:
one with 16TB -RAID 5
and another 22TB - RAID 6
Wife is in statistics -so she has enormous amount of data -thay she accumulated over the years

Comes out to 519MB after formatting. Ideal for nobody.

519 MSMB (Microsoft megabytes) = 545 STMB (Seagate megabytes).

Maybe not anymore but back in the day when I first bought it it was perfectly fine for the DOS 6.22 + Windows 3.11 install it still has on it and a bunch of old DOS Games aswell
