xx70 class GPU for a 1000 bucks in highly recommended now? What a joke! I like TPU's reviews very much, but I tend to stick stickly to their graphs analysis and make my own conclusions how The Greedy Ones are kicking gamer's cohones harder each new generation and are getting away with it:nutkick: Worse some victims are even defending their deeds. Go figure, there most be pleasure in masochism after all.

Card is 11-15 percent faster than the 4070 Ti non super in most reviews. As low as 5 percent faster versus the 4070 Ti Super.

That's because we usually care about 1080p now as modern games render at lower resolutions than ever, and use DLSS. I would play Avowed for example at 1080p upscaled to 1440p or 4k for example. Get 90fps.

Sure it is possible to see 30 percent faster speeds but only at 4k.

I'm more interested in the 1080p results honestly. Disappointed.

Next.

"But expensive" is self-justified, although it is established it can't be an award on its own without any other. But if the editor-in-chief himself says he's not convinced, how can it be an Editor's Choice?

All Nvidia cards get awards by default. An unfortunate consequence when a company achieves too much (undeserved) market share. If Nvidia didn't have such pull in the world, then only the 5090 would get an award but expensive tag. The 5080 and 5070Ti do not deserve any awards.

Seems their 5070 Ti cards are smaller, so they didn't continue the trend :)

Artificially limiting VRAM overclocking is just stupid. Reminds me of my 6700 XT when you just max the slider and no more.

so what about the Coils sound
Every card is an unique sample, some similar cards may have it while others doesn't. For example, back in the day my GTX 470 had terrible coil whine but I didn't read anywhere that the same model had coil whine with others.

Nvidia essentially re-releases the rtx 4080 for the third time at basically the same price after two years and rakes in positive reviews like candy. I don't get it.
The main issue with review industry is it is largely based around pre embargo access to products delivered free of charge, and as a bonus access to a special support team with technical documents provided. So this sort of thing is to be expected. I dont think the program would survive very long if reviewers en masse called Nvidia and their partners out for unreasonable pricing, low levels of stock, and things like selling 70ti's as 80's. It is to be expected really in this environment. I always take the reviewers opinion (and any awards) with a pinch of salt, and just take in the data provided.

A reviewer and or media outlet should be free to honestly say or state opinions about a product, it’s value and or anything that isn’t straight up libelous. When someones at the point of down playing or not calling out a company for shitty business practices or product issues value or otherwise, it ceases being an honest piece of journalism; having to worry whether or not you’ll be included in sampling for not being able to state an honest opinion is despicable at both ends of the stick.

I see it as a compromise, the reviewers are not completely towing the line.

If Nvidia had their own way, then the 40 series would have only been reviewed with frame gen only, and 50 series only with multi frame gen only. W1zzard e.g. states he thinks DLSS4 is a good tech, and I do think thats an honest opinion, most of the public are pretty happy with the new transformer model as an example. Of course transformer can be used on all RTX cards, so for existing Nvidia owners, its not a reason to buy one of the newer GPUs. It is what it is, I look at the data, and form my own opinion rather than accepting the reviewer's opinion blindly.

If I remember right Nvidia tried to black list HUB from review samples because they didnt give DLSS a level of attention that Nvidia wanted, was media back lash and Nvidia relented.

The "Editors choice" badge has been a bad joke for a while now, when it gets handed out to every Nvidia card it loses all meaning IMO.

Agreed, I have a difficult time trusting any of these reviews when the lack of value is downplayed, MSRP gets cited like it exists, and the card gets recommended with a "what else will you buy" attitude. A majority of the tech youtubers have been critical of the 50 series, honest about the 5070Ti not being a worthy improvement over last gen.

It boils down to this:

MSRP card (if actually available at msrp) is acceptable value in the unfortunate market we now have.

The same card with a 33% markup is, and honestly, is a literal piece of dogshit tech.

Imagine if another vendor released a product at the same performance across the board, for a 33% markup. It would get absolutely lambasted as this turd from ASUS should and any card above $800 for a 5070ti.

Absolutely despicable to give this an editor’s choice award. A 5070ti at this price should receive the “Avoid purchasing at all costs” award.

Wizz, what do you think about an mGPU spotlight article? The games are out there but there's no real thorough examination, it's all forum posts.

I'm fully expecting GTA6 to support it just as RDR2 does.

Most of the traditional AAA studio Games support it but there are no Modern Drivers to run Multi GPU. Then on Team Green only the highest tier cards support it but could you actually put 2 5090s in one PC?

No, you got it exactly backwards. Future games are more taxing so you will be playing at lower resolutions. So different parts of the GPU will be taxed. Right now the RTX 5000 series have more memory bandwidth which makes them look good at 4k but does nothing at 1080p. Future games will run at lower resolutions and the bottleneck will shift away from ram bandwidth.

Wow, you really got it exactly backwards...

Yes, you can overclock it, but you have to increase the power limit to an XX80 level, so it now requires three 8-pin connectors instead of two.

I don't like that.

Agreed. 5070Ti is basically the GDDR7 variant of the 2.5 year old RTX 4080. The two card are almost identical (same amount of ram, same processor node, same transistor count, same memory bus, same power draw, almost identical raw performance).

Essentially a re-badged 2.5-year-old 4080 with GDDR7 for almost a thousand bucks. Clown show.

This is kind of bullshit, though?

"I've plotted various alternative price points in our price/performance charts, reaching up to $1100, which, according to some early postings might end up being a realistic price point. We'll know more tomorrow, when sales go up.

The ASUS RTX 5070 Ti TUF OC comes at an MSRP of $1000—yes, you read that right! That's $250 more than the NVIDIA MSRP of $750, or +33%."

"It goes up to eleven" was used for base cards that should be $750, but we all know they won't. So why is the most expensive conceivable option for a $1000 card just 10% more? Lack of imagination?

Is "Editor's choice" just another word for "participation trophy" now? :wtf:

Every single GPU seems to be carrying a TPU badge these days, not to mention why a $1000 5070 Ti would get any award is beyond me.

I'd still rather buy an MSRP card, or even nothing, than pay 33% more than MSRP for a midrange GPU.

Personally, the only thing I "bitch and moan" about is the recommendation to overspend on a mid-range card. It is the last thing I'd suggest anyone to do because it makes absolutely zero sense whatsoever, especially during today's hard times.
