Been thinking of jumping on the hdr gsync 120hz bandwagon, but hesitant due to potential ghosting, motion blur, imperfections

got my twins superclocked acx 3.0 1080' s at 2016, goal being not to upgrade for a good number of years, in a v.a.t free zone... they still kick ass with my backlog of games, i'm not into only the newest games. let's hope they are still ok for gsync, hdr, 80~ 120 fps, 10 bit and all that goodness.
certainly the HB sli bridge will help in those heavy pixel scenarios

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
yup a 2080S would be even better
Im getting a rtx3000 for sure, but dunno if I wanna get a 80Ti and sit on it for 2 gens or incremental increases every two years

2080Ti price is not a problem for me.The resale value is.
Just get rid of it before next gen... they (flagships) tend to hold their value.

you may be in one of few situations were it does help (4k) in some titles.

i dont want an ultrawide, and certainly not 49'', i want classic 4k, and gsync will give me smooth playing even at lower fps than 120. i never mentioned 2080 ti sli, my setup wil have to do for now.

I don't think you actually had any experience with them to speak of, because I own multiple "classic UHD" monitors and I actually loved the 34UC98 most. Due to it being pretty immersive with the aggressive curve.

As for G-Sync offering you "smooth playing", sync technologies are not magic to make your FPS smoother than it already is. If you're getting spikes to 40-50 FPS, sync won't help fix that. It will just prevent jaggies that happen in the lack of a lack of frame sync.

A new Ultragear 34 could be had for the price of that used monitor, which is 144 Hz, more of which to be delivered with your current setup. If you find that small, you could have gotten a 38" as well. Certainly ultrawide is not "small", even vertically. Though the whole point is scaling things towards a horizontal estate, so it's like having dual monitor without having dual monitor problem bits.

the panel has arrived safely, and quite the deal as it was in original box, mfg. date is february 2020, with all accessories. here's a short follow up :
it is quite amazing compared to my drab 2015 60hz.
settings for 10 bit color, hdr , windows vrr and hd color all enabled and spectacular, ran a few hdr 10 bit youtube 4k vids. my displayport cable and connection bandwidth is 32gbps ,allowing up-to 8 bit hdr g-synced 4k @ 120hz, first thing i ran was crysis 2007 remastered with lighting and 4k textures enhanced mod. easy to configure gaming features via remote control or the proprietary asus windows app, per game settings profiles supported. monitor contains sRGB and wide gamut support and a driver with icm profile. sli and gsync are compatible with each other.
some of the extra features include ascr which is dynamic contrast enhancement, shadow boost, overdrive compensation.
more to come once i get used and tinker with stuff some more.

After few weeks of use, the saga continues... the first thing mostly noticeable besides the quality increase is the huge performance drop I experience when enabling global hdr in windows, 10 bit and gsync, at least in benchmarks like time spy. In heaven 4.0 it is much less noticeable. Sure, hdr is nice and shiny, and burns my retina just fine, but i will do some more reading at blur busters as to how I configure my games for optimal performance while retaining the monitor features. Maybe it has to do with the fact that i do my scaling on the gpu, with sharpening, or something else I misconfigured. I do run my desktop at 60hz 10 bit hdr, trying to game at the most high refresh rate. It will take some more tweaking.

10-bit is more data compared to 8-bit. Pascal gets some performance hit from that.

Whats the point if your current system wont even come close to 4K 120Hz?

the point being older games, those run fine, the newer ones will have to do with whatever is achieved, gsync being better than vsync which is halving the fps
