Yeah, the steam servers are still faulty after years of the same problem. Sometimes I STILL get that "found 1 server" and things like that, wait 5 minutes, try again and there are 100000000 servers. Stupid.

But I'd say my favorite game is Halo, no one has mentioned it yet. Doom 3 is great too, I mean great. The story isn't that great, but with graphics like it's got who can't love it? Best game of all time though...EARTHBOUND for the great Super Nintendo.

For me it's Far Cry and Doom3 for single player. IMO Farcry has a better story and keeps things interesting all the way to the end.
Call of duty is a great LAN game. There are not too many things more satisfying in gaming than watching the guy across from you jumping out of his seat because you snuck up on him and blasted him with a Thompson or sniped him.:rockout:
BTW I think steam sucks ass too. It's always worked for me but whats up with all the updates? Just because you are required to use it doesn't mean they need to keep finding things to "fix". Just fix it right...bleah!

I'd say UT2004 and Quake 4. I like FPS games and you might not agree but I also think NFS Underground 2 is an awesome game. Been playing it forever. Quake 4 is much more action packed than Doom3 and looks about the same although Quake4 is quite a bit longer with a better storyline. Although graphics shouldn't be the only thing a game has, coz then it gets repetitive VERY soon. My fav game of ALL TIME is definitely, hands-down StarCraft!! Best game ever... ;)

Im not a fan of Steam either. A clunky interface we get because Valve's security or lack thereof was responsible for the HL2 code gettin leaked on the net prematurely.

I didn't steal anything off VALVE so why should I, or anyone else not responsible, get penalized for Valve's porous security measures?

My ingame UT2k4 nic is "ZigZag" & u can find me on CTF servers usually.

Eve-online was a great game for a while, though eventually it got boring (after 2 years).
As for engines I'm very impressed by Warcraft 3's engine, allows so much. The game itself isn't too great though.

I agree with you on that silverstone.

GTA3, no one's mentioned that either. Halo, GTA3, Timesplitters 2, even San Andreas and Vice City are all games everyone loved but nobody's mentioning. Times change, but they're still great games (at least GTA3 of the GTA series).

I enjoyed Halo on pc....A lot of people diss the game as a direct Xbox port but its still fun.

Too bad AA is broken on that game, I just use 16X AF on it.

Good games indeed, but most of them were console exclusive before being ported to the PC, so I wouldn't consider them "PC Games"...

Fable

 The best game i have played is some time is FABLE The Lost Chapters. This game is great! I love the way the graphics look. The game is also a good pick-me-uper because the game has some crazy things you can do... :p

If anyone knows of a game that has the same type of overall layout and paying type, (maybe Microsoft has a game, i just don't know of it) please let me know Thanks :)

Another vote for Far Cry for my top spot. Aside from the visuals, it has great gameplay, and replayability in spades (something that HL2 lacked big time, IMHO).

My 1st Runner-Up would be the IL2 series of combat flight sim (for the same reasons as Far Cry).

2nd Runner-Up goes to Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

There are other titles that I've loved as dearly, but not within the date range of '00-'05.

Homeworld and Homeworld 2 are both very good games. I'm playing homeworld 2 right now, and it's quite the challenge even for veterans.

COD2 is a really fun game. Gets a bit boring though after a while.

Cover me while I reload. Yeah righto, I've heard you say it 50 billion times already!

F.E.A.R. is quite good. Love the language in it. :p

Earth 2160! ;) Pretty awesome game... Takes a WHILE to get used to it but it's pretty damn good! Best RTS for the past few years. Still a bit buggy now but patches are coming out so. AI and pathing is a bit of a hassle but it's still great. :D

Without a doubt the best PC RTS since the year 2000 is Homeworld. Followed closely by its sequel Homeworld 2.

I have yet to find any RTS with such an engrossing storyline. The graphics are revolutionary for their times of creation also. I do believe these are the only two RTS with true 3 Dimensional space combat. The map is actually a sphere:cool: .

Very good games, especially the first one, amazing story and soundtrack :)
Did you ever try homeworld: cataclysm? even though I beat both homeworld and homeworld 2, I couldn't beat cataclysm, dunno why, but I lost interest after some missions. Maybe it was the fact that in homeworld you were constantly fighting and running for the sake of your whole race, but in cataclysm you were only managing a miner's ship...

Ill second that.

I lost interest because of how difficult it was, I got to the 5th level I think and couldnt get it :shadedshu

Amazing game to revisit every few months and get stuck again...

Hegemonia is another 3D space RTS. It also has a sphere map and everything and the detail and gameplay is better in my opinion than Homeworld. I played Homeworld but I didn't find it as engrossing and spectacular as some of you guys... Got bored with it quickly. Not a bad game but not my type of game.
