I like it. Only change I'd make would be covering the entire front with 5.25" sections just to retain consistency, but I guess that's a very overused look. I'd consider this case.

It's even dark-colored on the inside. Bit of a surprise.

Yeah, I agree. A few small things I'd change. 1)I like the left side panel, if not both, to be completely solid(no holes). 2) Redesign the slightly Fugly top(remove handles and/or just make it flat on top w/ handles, guess I don't like the slants on the Antec 900/1200 etc.). 3) Hmm, don't use LED fans.

this is just a reinvented version of their centurion lol. Not saying that thats really bad, cause it does have the good qualities of the centurion (and a nice hole in the CPU area of the mobo tray).

In my experience some psu's dont have a long enough 8 pin cpu connector.

I guess that's why good cases come with extensions for the 8 pin. My HAF (which is huge) came with an extension but my PSU has more than enough length to make it to the connector even though its routed behind the mobo tray.

90` hdd bays are rubbish,all they do is block the air-flow from the front fan.

I'd get this for every rig that isn't my main one. That looks awesome. The one thing I've got against it though is those 90 degree HDD mounts. You're right Tigger, that is rubbish.

I've got a HAF case and I think quite the contrary - there's a nice gap (roughly 1/2"-3/4") beween each HDD, so plenty of air gets through, not to mention cooling the drives.

And, with only 3 HDDs in my system, I'm staggering them, so there's a ton of airflow.

The slide out tool-less HDD cages are some of the simplest and best I've worked with, albeit not terribly sturdy. The only tricky thing is you need to remove the back panel to unplug the drives if cables are short or stiff.

...I'm assuming this case has the same HDD cage dimensions of the HAF

It just seems so pointless to have a fan there when 1 cm behind it is a large fairly restrictive hunk of metal. First thing I'd do is rip that out and either make my own or use the CD Drive space.

The point is - it isn't restrictive. That "hunk of metal" has large holes for air passage across the hard drives.

One thing I didn't like was the case punchouts for the fan, so I took a jig-saw and went to town.

I think he means there is no radiator mounting options at the top just a 140mm exhaust but it might have 120mm mounting holes.

the problem is the front intake fan is used to cool the hard drives not cool the motherboard, the holes on the side of the hard drive cage is meant to let the hard drives breathe.

if fan filters and wire grills can add restriction i'm sure this hard drive cage will. but you are right if you want to change it so it brings cool air onto the motherboard you would have to turn the hard drive cage 90 degrees. of course most people will probably compromise and mount there hard drive at the very bottom of the cage and remove the unused hard drive brackets.

Nothing here fancy me here I've seen it all. Look different outside but same thing inside (no improvement whatsoever). Kind of got tired of company releasing new case with nothing change except the outside (color, more junk port, heavier, same cooling, same placement, same boring stuff). Come on bring something fresh to the table!

Cooler Master Centurion 590 is only $69 and has more fan mounts, water cooling grommets (scout does not), radiator mount and a forward facing hard drive cage.

I saw this recently in person at a Cooler Master event. The case is much slicker than it looks in the pictures for two reasons. The case has the highest quality black coating I have seen. The coating covers all the sharp edges even inside the 5.25" bay cutouts.

It is much smaller in person and that isn't so bad. When I go to a LAN party I take my 2nd computer. Why do I need to bring my watercooling stuff and lug it up steps and such, that's why the water cooling grommets aren't a big thing for me. It's not exactly a water cooling champion and to be honest I wouldn't have much use for WC on a system that passes through my front door often.

Coolermaster SCOUT Case - Warning

I may have received a factory reject case but its '5.25 inch' drive bays do NOT accept standard 146mm wide optical drives, even with the left hand side 'latch-pins' withdrawn.
A standard drive bay is 147mm wide, but metal 'dimple' protrusions on the bay's right hand side reduce the SCOUT case bays to just 144m in width, so be warned.
In all other respects the case that I have been supplied with is really superb, but completely unusable because I cannot fit any optical drives
Perhaps reviews and exhibitions used correctly made drives ?
