RX 7800 XT (499$) was released 1.5 years ago in 2023 not in 2020!Cause $550 of 2020 is now around $675. And then you need to factor in the new tariffs and increased wafer costs. No way it's going to be $550. I imagine the MSRP might be $650 and there will be a grand total of one card from each vendor at that price + AMD's lottery from their own website that isn't even available for more than half of the planet.

"Despite Frank Azor's dismissal [...]" can sound ambiguous. Either he dismissed something (which is the case), or he was dismissed himself.
Dude, it literally says in AMD's own slides that their 9% operating margin was "Primarily due to lower revenue". How the hell are they going to sell MORE cards at HIGHER prices? And with these prices AMD's operating margin for gaming segment is 9%, by far the worst part of their business. I'm just pointing out that those price for a "midrange card" (if we consider something like that midrange at all, at some point in better times we thought $179 RX470 was midrange) are now obsolete and probably aren't coming back. I don't like it, you know, it's shaping up to be another crap year for diy pc lovers.

No, the low range was previous gen cards still being produced(GT730, GT740 and GTX750) and the GT1030.so low range was the 1050 (rx 460)? because there were no more gtx cards.
makes zero sense.

If the 16GB version comes at $800, do we really care if there is going to be a 32GB version? Probably those who want to run AI applications, but what about the rest of us? Would there be any interest for a 32GB 9070XT at $1000 or more?

You can go and buy an RTX 5070 at $549 MSRP but $700 real price when it comes out, or an RTX 5070 Ti at $750 MSRP but over $900 real street price after the very few cards at MSRP get sold out.LOL, these would be DOA at $699 and $599 if you ask me. I suppose AMD could be lying about wanting to serve the mainstream market and regain market share. Those prices aint it.
Because you wouldn't be able to buy the 5070 Ti at it's MSRP. Or at least very few will be the lucky ones. Those prices would be literally DOA, why not just get the 5070 Ti at that point.
Yeah, yeah, "at least it'll be in stock" okay well when the 5070s are in stock there's no reason to buy at that point.

That's why AMD abandoned the hi end market. With people educated to only feel forced to pay for an Nvidia card, why bother making cards for the high end?Ain't nobody out here itching to buy an AMD card at $700 man.
What are you even talking about, man? That's why AMD abandoned the hi end market. With people educated to only feel forced to pay for an Nvidia card, why bother making cards for the high end?
And if Nvidia was putting a REAL $549 MSRP price on the 5070, 9070 would be priced at $499 from the beginning.
I love how people in other occasions blame AMD for Nvidia's pricing but in this case the fake MSRPs from Nvidia are not a reason to blame Nvidia for AMD's pricing.
Double standards? Well, yes, that's why we have a monopoly in the GPU market.

Nvidia enjoys better profit margins and also sells 9 times more cards. I hope you understand those two facts. What are you even talking about, man?
$600 and $700 is DOA, full stop. Nobody is buying at those prices. Maybe AMD should've built around $500 being their target price instead of counting on NVIDIA being so greedy that their product's better by default if they actually want market share.

Firstly, lol at the first 4/5ths of this sentence followed by "basic English" - I get what you mean but the words you used to explain it.... there's some irony herewhich means the opener was a qualifying statement not a declarative quantifier. Basic english.
The 9070 XT is literally a fixed monolithic 7800 XT with a 4nm GCD. Every single other component on the card HAS gotten cheaper.Nvidia enjoys better profit margins and also sells 9 times more cards. I hope you understand those two facts.
Now, AMD was probably thinking selling those cards at $479 and $599, probably with slim to no profit margin or even a loss in the beginning, hoping to start producing profits later when materials get cheaper. Nvidia could probably sell RTX 5070 at $549 and still have profits. Or maybe both companies where thinking lower prices and then Tramp happened with those tariffs. Don't know.
Now, if you think that 9070 XT is DOA because of it's MSRP and 5070 is great at the same $700 because of it's fake MSRP, OK. Buy the 5070. Not my money.
