Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
i also should say i OC a new kind of GPU (at last for me) for now ... a Broadcom Videocore IV @350/450 (3d/video) instead of 300/400 ... (while the CPU core stay at 1200 ... unlike my RPi 2 the 3rd iteration does not need CPU OC to be awesome :D )

oh well ... i also OC'ed the GK20A in my Tegra K1 SOC back then ... but realized it did not do much over standard clocks (CPU still at stock 2128mhz clock )

yup, I have overclocked every single one of them I had and the only time it wasn't worth it was when I was overclocking my old HD 4250M(actually an IGP) laptop because it was too slow to matter, still did it though..

How the fuck do you overclock a PSU ???????? :)
Running 120V unit on 220V :nutkick:.

Thats overvolting and thats going to result in

i think that person meant that the quality of the PSU won't alter the OC potential of your CPU/GPU? i think. which is bulls**t actually. OCing drastically increases power draw and you need a power supply that can handle huge surges in power draw (without dropping voltage too much) when system goes from idle to load very fast. i learned that when i upgraded from a POS thermaltake PSU to a Seasonic unit in a build from many years ago. my computer stopped crashing at high overclocks.

in any case, i am actually running the 2 computers in my home on 240V outlets. i live in an NYC condo that was built very recently and they actually ran a 240V line for the wall mounted AC units. i have my computers running on the 240V outlets for higher efficiency.

I overclock everything that let's me and fight damn hard for the the things that don't. My current 7950's are flashed to 280's with a reasonably high overclock so no need to touch software. My 290 is clicked some damn thing runs too hot imo.

What did flashing the 7950 to a 280 do? Was the 7950 a pre-boost version or something?

I run a R9 280 + 7950 boost crossfire and they are basically the same far as I can tell. Only the 280 is voltage locked where the 7950 isn't :(
So I just have the 7950 OCed by 15mhz to match to the 280.

If needed yeah. The 7970 is a still a beast card. I just wish I had a 6gb version.

Technically, Sapphire did it for me and all other R9 390 users by raising core frequency for 40 MHz.
However, I did overclock my Sapphire Nitro R9 390 with back plate to a limited edition R9 390"XT". :D
Results are in my signature. It didn't crash during gaming and I kept it at that frequency for two days. If someone is interested, I increased the voltage for about 35% (I don't remember the exact numbers) and modified GPU fan speed well above factory maximum of 47%.

You dont. And anyone that forums should have seen I was talking about a gpu considering what I quoted...lol!

i think that person meant that the quality of the PSU won't alter the OC potential of your CPU/GPU? i think. which is bulls**t actually. OCing drastically increases power draw and you need a power supply that can handle huge surges in power draw (without dropping voltage too much) when system goes from idle to load very fast. i learned that when i upgraded from a POS thermaltake PSU to a Seasonic unit in a build from many years ago. my computer stopped crashing at high overclocks.
let's use our heads here a minute and look at what I posted again.. :)

If your psu doesn't have ENOUGH POWER to support the overclock, of course it won't work or be stable.

We are also talking QUALITY power supplies here, not some hantol/diablotek bullshit.

So let me clarify since many managed to walk away from my post with different ideas...

If I have a quality 1000W psu and a quality 500W psu, so long as I am not going past its rated power, the 1000W unit will NOT overclock a gpu farther.

Nope they were boost cards. They were flashed because there was a glitch in one game whose name I now can't remember. Having a 7950 wouldn't let it run some stupid setting and having a 280 would. So they got flashed.

Once you overclock you never run stock. Even my HD 4600 is overclocked. Too bad GPU-Z don't read the overclocked GPU clock but the sensor did :D My crappy DDR3-1600 CL11 is also overclocked to 2133MHz for MOAR bandwidth

seconded ... actually for day to day task the factory OC is enough (even if it's only 50mhz on the core ) but for benchies i OC manually to test the card.
and actually as : "if i need more GPU power" question arise, the answer will always be, "i will OC it" as i don't have the budget to get a faster one, why get a 600-700chf GPU when a 450chf one can reach them in some situation with a little OC added, ok they only reach stock performances of the faster one but for now even the mid-highend cards are overkill, at last for me on 1080p .... i might OC a bit when i will switch to a useful resolution like 1440-1600 (but not 4k ... not useful ... 27" i prefer 1440 )

on previous owned cards i would OC most of the time (probably because i always took the top dog of the previous gen when a new one was out and the older one was cheaper, or second hand  )

obviousness  ... (except for model of the GPU and ASIC ... who give a damn for the ASIC, specially now that the 10XX series ASIC is not supported if you don't try you don't know i had some shitty ASIC cards that OC'ed like champs on air or water, brand that use ASIC to get a premium on their card are laughable... altho only EVGA or is there another clown in the mix? ) although PSU quality ... no one should have a no name or shady brand PSU ever or a Corsair CX ... cheap in every aspect .... not bad but too cheap, my retailer recommended me that one ... i changed my retailer and got a Seasonic M12II 750 EVO for 15$ more

Aha Boss,as u say..

My first serious attempt at GPU overclocking was with my current GTX 980 Gigabyte G1 edition.

I played around with a custom BIOS that a guy made over at overclock.net and now I am rock solid for gaming at 1541 MHz core and 1903 MHz memory. I do have to have my fans up to 80% in order to keep the card around 60 C though.

I have voted: the factory did it for me.

I overclocked just my 2 x 770 when I had it running in SLI, now i have a 750Ti SC edition running at stock, days ago i have ordered a 1080 which i won't overclock because it's powerful enough at stock.

I'm more of a silent fan. That's why I usually try to undervolt my components while keeping them at stock. Although I have done my fair share of overclocking too.
