OFFICIAL Elite: Dangerous

The first should be -100% = 0%, 0% = 50%, +100% = 100% and 1:1, or -100% = -100%, 0% = 0% and +100% = +100%. At least my limited experience with HOTAS throttles is how I've seen it. Between the game and Windows you should have these options. And it also depends on if you want to have reverse throttle as an option below center all the time, or use a toggle switch to reverse your throttle inputs and use -100 as 0 throttle and +100 as full throttle (what I prefer, more precise).

Hopefully almost a week later you've found an answer to your question, sorry I am not able to better answer it!
I prefer -100%=-100% and +100%=+100%. Problem is, windows only recognizes the top 0-100% of the throttle, and it takes 100% as 50% throttle.

Well how about in Elite itself? You should be able to check a box to allow Full Range throttle rather than 0-100 throttle.

To do that change in Windows I gotta use the CH Manager software as Windows does the same thing on my throttle as well.

Thing is, elite takes it from windows so the percentage is the same as windows sees.

did you try it?

mine works fine
Yeah, elite is returning the exact same values. Is there a way to tell it to grab values from hardware?

Neat!

Well if after calibration on the throttle (if possible), and maybe testing with another PC/laptop to verify the issues...I'd say RMA it then. You really should only have two ways that throttle works... 0-100 and -100 - 0 - +100...end of story, and unless you have a software choice or a switch, I would assume that 0-100 would be default. So there could be an internal contact or hardware issue with something not report position correctly...or something is faulty. Seems like fwir, these are plug and play...get in and go. So if you can't do that, RMA it.

I've been really enjoying mouse + KB still.

Sadly my CH kit is collecting dust for now...but this won't be long term as those parts really help to make the experience feel more authentic.

With that said I've been making the 180LY trip to try out my shine new free Viper Mk IV. I'm not expecting much...and hit a system where I got some good funds from a Civil War. Granted I was wanted in that system for being aligned with the empire, and on a couple of security interdictions earned a bounty due to needing to defend myself...but it was a blast!

Though I'm missing out on a lot of things this game offers I feel yet...I haven't tried smuggling or any of that...haven't tried mining, trading or exploring since last spring, I may have to make the next jaunt to get back to my trusty ol' T6...but not sure I want to get back into space trucking yet. I made some good money doing it...but I haven't really read up how lucrative trading is in Horizons.

I was able to earn 500k in a 20-30 minute session last night in that Civil War spot...but those are everchanging and I'm always on the lookout for those and RES. It would be nice to do the claimed 3-4Mil/hr as some claim to do...but then again..if I'm gonna grind it's gonna be in combat. What are the rest of you guys doing for earnings right now? Horizons or 1.5.

So took the Viper Mk IV out for a quick spin, tried to do some fancy maneuvers and ran into the station...luckly only took out my shields and didn't get a bounty or anything for it. Decided that I will keep it for now...and plan to keep all my ships in all honesty.

The system I'm in right now has a decent RES, but it's 3200-3400 Ls away from the station, so I may explore to find a new hub of operations. I decided to run some missions last night, did a smuggling mission successfully but failed a couple others where they're supposed to contact me. I did an assassination mission but only had 5 hull left and had to limp back to safe space. But the RES site in the system I'm in (I'll report back later...I forget what its called) has produced a lotta 150k bounties and it's usually more challenging than the civil war combat zones because there's not always a buddy or two on your side helping out...sometimes if you want that 'Conda... it's all up to you.

I'm learning where my keyboard and mouse use are limited in comparison to HOTAS for harder combat...but I'm getting there and debating getting the G13 back out and giving it a run too. :D

Made for one helluva evening of Elite. :D

Edit: My free Viper IV was located in the Barnard's Star system at Miller Depot. Not a bad place...just made 1.7 mil RES hunting at the system's only H-rated RES. I almost didn't wanna trade off the shield boost for the Kill Warrant Scanner...but boy has it paid off..I paid the 120K for the one with 3Km range...makes it nice to line up an attack run and scan em at the same time. :D

jeez, finally after a few months I have actually installed the game. I know, I know, I'm a slatch. :p

Going to get this fired up here in a couple of hours as I have some "honey do" crap I gotta take care of first.

Hey @erocker , do you still have to TS room up for this game? Anyone still messing with it?

I'm in it now...playing Solo atm and doing RES combat.

Trying to decide which ship I am saving for...an Asp or Vulture. I love combat... but I also wanna earn some big $$$ running smuggling missions. I've only got 9.7 mill atm, but now that I'm getting better in RES sites I can last longer and bring back more...I'm usually running out of ammo before I'm running away from damage. :)

But the ol' Cobra MKIII is getting long in the tooth...it's been my primary ship for over a year now.

Welcome to the frontier @stinger608 :toast:

What is the best way to get started in the game @Kursah ? Whats the best way to start making bucks to upgrade ships and what not I guess is what I'm asking LOL.

Start doing some basic missions, start earning cred with the factions, the more you do the more you'll make. I started with light trading runs and buying upgrades for my Sidey. I haven't started fresh since Gamma...but I'm sure it's still the same. If you can get into some combat with a decked out Sidewinder or upgraded Eagle, you'll be able to go do some bounty hunting. That's where I'm making my big bucks.

I made the most (well almost 2nd most now...) by trading...space truckin. It gets boring and tedious and grindy...I recommend changing it up...trade a little, do missions...go get into some combat...go explore. The more you do, the more you'll earn.

There's some good guides and youtube vids that can help get ya started too.

You might be able to team up with some players to get help too...though admittedly this game still needs to resolve issue with wings imho. Still get stuck in separate instances last time I tried.

I usually fly solo, keeps better human pilots off your ass...some will harass, some will help, some will kill without warning. But when you're new...all it can do is add to the frustration. I'd say spend time getting used to the game if you haven't...run some missions, and you'll start earning and moving up in no time. :)

Awesome!!! Thanks for the great advice @Kursah !!! :respect: :respect: :respect: :respect: :respect:

This. Trading is great if you want to earn money relatively quickly but have a boring time. I just exhausted a stop on a 3 planet loop I was doing that was earning me a bit over 600k every loop with a Type-7. Personally, I usually have 2 ships so I can switch it up occasionally so I'm not stuck always doing the same thing because as @Kursah said, trading can get pretty boring after a short time. It can pay well if you find a good loop and you can keep yourself away from pirates or other factions.

Well I'm debating...once I hit 30-mil...if I'm going to dump it into a combat Vulture for more RES action, and then equip my Cobra more for smuggling and do both until I get an ASP for smuggling...or just go ASP first. I'm keeping the Cobra either way...never again selling a ship. I may hop back in my T6 at some point to relive the space trucker life...but not today at least.

But I'm planning to do some stuff akin to what this guy writes about...I've only ever done a couple of smuggling missions...but it seems to mix trading, combat and being sneaky fairly well...and it's supposed to be pretty lucrative in 1.5 and 2.0. :)

As it stands now I'm hunting for some new RES locations, something with a closer station for quicker turnarounds and more options to go to...at least more High rated options. The hunt begins... :D

I'm going to have to read through the last couple of pages tonight as I recently reinstalled ED and I'm having major throttle issue at the moment. When I slide my CH Products pro throttle forward nothing happens until I get just over half way and then the throttle in game jumps up super fast. It never did this before when I played in the past. It always worked well. It was so bad that I couldn't play the other night.

you need to make sure your CH software settings match this setting in game

will check that out dude!

Anyone notice the server outage Friday evening? I did...and dunno if any of you know this but due to that there adding a 20% bonus to earnings through the remainder of the weekend and into part of Monday iirc.

Either rate, I've been playing on and off throughout the weekend. Operation next level badass ship commencing. I'm only at about 15 mil of my 30 goal. But I am not in a rush...just having fun, even letting the kids take control which they really enjoy. :)

Well dang. I flew to Maia for the black hole, and I got lots of cool shots, but I missed my recording of the best moment. It was a <150km flyby and it looked so cool. Oh well.
EDIT: Nevermind, found the video. Saved on my secondary drive, duh. :P Also within 85km
I may post a video here if I can figure out youtube again.

Here it is. Afterburner didn't capture my audio, and it looks like I should really increase my bitrate, but it was only a small video. The good pass is the 2nd one, not the first.

Bumping this from oblivion to show you an AI I met today in singleplayer that made me laugh.

Meet Homer Simpson the Smuggler, in local chat:

Well, I guess he has the same initials as "Han Solo..."

Just got back into this game, I'm not sure if its because ive had a few too many knocks to the thinkin cap but it feels like quests are a bit too vague... I was told to go kill this fella in this star system, so I travel over there and theres like 30 frickin asteroid belts and mining stations. How am I supposed to know where that guy is? Do i just check them all?
