Am i the only sucker that bought into AMD's Fury/X cool aid around TPU?? Where are tge other Fury/X owners?
You should know

I haven't seen one so maybe this is a good place to start? First HBM equipped. I have owned my FuryX for about a week now. I am really loving the quiet yet powerful quality of this graphic card. This is my first AIO cooling PC component and I am loving it. I will post some benchmark screen shots later.

You and gupsterG need to pop over to your club, it sounds all rosey in there , which obviously contrasts heavily with this thread.

You had a thread set up perfectly for this debate but chose sensationalism and a separate thread.

Do note, due in large part to your thinking in this thread ie that a fiji Has to hold its exact performance position against a 980ti for ever ,that im considering the worth of your tech knowledge as possibly not all that.

All the posts in the furyX club are positive including all yours ,right upto dec 2016.

Yet separately we've seen this thread and the furyX aio pumps fail(shocker) thread ,though that thread again was pure sensationalism since yours hasn't failed, what gives.

Just sell your fury to a miner or swap it for a 980ti ,job done.

Or you could sell it for a quite a sizeable amount of cash right now, and get a 1070 or something.

This thread should've been titled : "FineWhine ===> I don't want to accept the fact that high end hardware doesn't remain high end throughout the years , screw AMD"

you must be delusional.
where do you see gtx 1060 beating 980Ti/TXM ? They still rip it to shreds, they're 2 tiers higher parts of lat gen. Fury X gets beat by a 230mm Polaris chip.

Hardware Unboxed arrived at the same conclusion: The 980Ti is aging considerably better than the FuryX!

He did mention though close to the end of the video that while at max settings FuryX has problems with VRAM size limitations, when the settings come down a bit it regains its position vs 980Ti. Which is exact. Only problem Fury X has (not talking about oc potential here) is the VRAM size. And if AMD could put the HBCC feature at work for Fiji also, that would solve the problem permanently imho. Not sure if that's possible though.

HBCC isn't just a software feature, Vega has a different memory controller built for this function.

I would say this thread is somewhat a whiner thread and somewhat wrong too. I saw a lot of benchmarks lately here on TPU, where Fury X was just doing fine. In some parts even very fine. Generally, I'm surprised of the "findings" here and I'm pretty sure they are wrong. I'm a regular watcher of youtube videos where GPUs old and new get compared (and yes, even custom 980 Ti included) and Fury X was pretty much always doing fine. In the end, it's normal that RX 580 isn't that much behind and at times nearly as fast as Fury X, because it's new tech and Fury X is somewhat dated. It has nothing to do with Vram btw. In most games, relevant to me at least, Fury X was doing fine at 1440p + 4K - and as a reminder: Fury X was NEVER ever intended as a 1080p card, thus its miserable performance on any resolution lower than 1440p. It's simply not made for that, its 4096 shaders will not be used at 1080 because of its engine function not able to saturate all shaders at that resolution. It's actually a very good 1440p card, but IMO nothing more than that. It's certainly not really suited for 4K, especially not for those games that need more than 4GB vram for 4K (some do, but it's only a few).

And on AMD not doing good driver work for Fury X anymore: I'd call that wrong. Fury X is part of GCN and GCN is in its entirety always worked on. Fury X / Fiji GPU is no exception there, ofc. This is true for all GCN based GPU's.

I thought AMD drivers being bad is a long gone myth, but I see some people are unable to let this go.

Edit for "FineWine": is actually made up by AMD fanboys or misinformed people. AMD mostly ages normally (there are multiple articles on the net that prove this, compared to Nvidia drivers), but some older GPUs like Hawaii (R9 290X) didn't have proper drivers from the start, so they aged kinda "better" than other and comparable GPUs. This is actually pretty much outdated since RX 500 series. Since at least then AMD is doing drivers to optimize for games, which is normal work Nvidia is doing as well. And prior to R9 290X (the reason why "FineWine" is even a thing) there was never such a thing as FineWine. It's actually just technology itself. 7970 aged better than GTX 680 for example because it has more vram (3 GB vs 2), but FineWine has more or less to do with drivers only. Another thing that isn't FineWine would be if Vega features that are currently unused would get to be used, that's not FineWine either but simply usage of features not used before, technology.

Yep. Some how me, the actual owner of a FuryX since the fucking lanuch until this day experiencing all the shit AMD given to this arc of their flagship AMD GPU is MORE wrong than you bench critics who don't even have a mofu FuryX.

You bet your sweet asses I will be moving away from this POS once I save up enough.

Weird because you went from July 23 2015 through Dec 20 2016 all proud of it.

So much so that on Dec 19 2016 you were ready to buy another

I got the money ready for a second FuryX, a used 5960X and a new 1200Watt PSU. However with VEGA and RyZen news everywhere I have decided to wait a bit more.

Your own words.

I for one can wait to read all about it.

People change opinions based on the progress of software support. Did I had any idea AMD was not planning to support Fury/X lineup well last year? Hell fucking no. I was still drinking the fucking FineWine cool aid. I was still confident AMD will provide support for SteamVR Async Reprojection. I was still confident AMD will active optimize driver for Fury/X.

What happened in 2017 then? None of that. I bought some new games to play and they run like shit on this GPU.

In case you have been living in the past. 2017 has not been good for the FuryX . Hence why this thread exists. If AMD had better support i would not have made this.

You don't like me disliking AMD GPU. I get it. Nobody is gonna persuade anyone on internet and we all know that. I am done waiting for AMD's never coming feature support and performance optimization. Also i am done debating with you. It will get nowhere.

BTW,go buy yourself a Fury or FuryX and try some 2017 titles for yourself. See if i, along with a whole bunch of hardware reviews are lying.

Now that your confronted with your own words its moved into a 2017 only thing.

Yet here you are.

I didn't ask you to debate. I was just pointing out inconsistencies in your own statements and else where. If people post links don't get upset if people read them and then point to them if something doesn't make sense.

I already said, some people just don't accept facts but excuses. I rely on numbers, you and the other guys rely on skewing the interpretation of numbers to whatever is convenient.

I already said, some people just don't accept facts but excuses. I rely on numbers, you and the other guys rely on skewing the interpretation of numbers to whatever is convenient.

besides I don't talk the trolls either

FYI I've been dealing with computers for about 20 years now and on another note I've been here for about 10 so just to give you a heads up and all that alright when I see a a bs-er I put them on block so that's where you're at and also I don't Skew numbers.

@xkm1948, buy a budget card, sell the fury to gain some of what you might have lost or felt that you have. Then buy a new card

You know what my one beef with my Fury is? Fan control...that’s it. Wattman blows for that. I game at 1440 and everything still runs great. Just that fan thing....
