Twitter user @KittyYYuko has leaked what should be the first picture of an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 card, although it's not exactly what we'd call a great picture. It's not that it's a blurry phone shot in a dark room or a really low-resolution image, but rather that the card is inside a plastic bag. As such, it's hard to make out any real details, although the post commented in Japanese that it's very similar to a GeForce RTX 3090FE card.

The card is said to be using a three slot design and what can be seen, despite the glossy plastic bag surrounding the card, is that NVIDIA has changed to a different fan-blade design. What makes this look a bit fake, is the logo on the card, as the RTX and 4080 text on the card appears to be using different fonts. However, according to Videocardz, this is a new font that NVIDIA has started using on its website and it might have translated over to their products as well.

Looks like the RTX 3090 with a new label on it.
There was an alleged leak of the cooler months ago that also looked the same as the 3000-series FEs, so this seems to back that up. I think we'd have seen the new design by now if there was going to be one. The 3000-series one leaked about six months before launch.

Indeed. But all is well here, folks, no problem whatsoever wrt higher TDPs.
Because as we all know, you have no choice but to buy the xx8x tier card every year or the government will throw you in jail!

I don't know how legit the picture is, but that's pretty much what I expect the 4080 FE to look like.

That's mostly not true. Has Nvidia ever 100% reused FE Designs?

Edit it happend on the past.

The good ol time back when Nvidia made something somehow faster and more power efficient on the same node. We stayed on 28 nm for a long time eh ?

Which do you think will be heavier, the card itself or the PSU needed for the system running it? Nvidia is getting up there in age, their cards are getting fatter and out of shape with the requirement for more energy to move pixels. :shadedshu:
Many many many years ago (decades now I guess), I was told that electronics of the future would be getting smaller, efficient and more powerful.

When it came to cellphones they were correct, but GPU's?

I would be impressed with 3090 performance in a smaller package (much) and with half the power draw.

That ain't happening anytime soon.

I'm more interested in what AMD has coming up at this point. With how RTX shaping up as the Nvidia Physx at this point.

Also, I was bored, so I managed to find the bold version of that NALA font. I think that the new name might look like this :

I call BS. I doubt that NVIDIA would use the same cooler design, as a new one would help differentiate the products better in consumers' minds and hence help sell the product.

We'll find out for sure soon enough.

with the 4080 being that thick, I wonder how thick the 4090 would be. probably a quadruple slot card.

i wonder if that card also has a 12-pin connector as that of the 3080.

Ehh wasn’t 700 to 1000 basically same design language? Only 2000 series and 3000 are different because Nvidia was universally clowned beacuse 2000 series coolers were mostly form over function.
The font for the 4080 doesn't look right to me.
Someone on reddit pointed out that Nvidia changed the font on their website too and it matches the on the card.

as a new similar one would help differentiate homogenize the products better in consumers' minds and hence help sell the Ampere products.

Joking aside, if for example RTX 4070 according to rumors, use the full AD104 die at 2.8GHz with 21Gbps GDDR6X, it will be more than 10% faster in 1440p vs RTX 3090Ti.
That's a good differentiating factor isn't it?

Yes, but a visual difference is very powerful. Remember, this is marketing, not technical merit here.

Yeah, I agree, sorry it was just an opportunity to put out there my RTX 4070 prediction, all the leaks I saw up till now, was around or a little bit faster than RTX 3090.

That 4080 font looks like it has 16x MSAA applied to it.
