Molex to pcie cable mod. No fires yet!!

A good molex to PCI-E can take up to 12 amps before even turning "hot"

With 8 pin most load is distributed so that every cable gets approx 2 to 4 amps. Nothing to worry about.

Such connectors over time only get worse if you plug 'm in, plug 'm out, for approx 25 times. Corrosion occurs with that.

Yep. I've had those molex to PCIE for at least a decade. I've used them many times. :)

I have one PCI-E cable that goes from the PSU to the GPU. I've inserted and removed that for a ton of times. And while i had a ancient RX580 back then still i noted that the VRM input voltage would be at 11V on load. I figured out the removing and installing back in has done it's wear onto the connectors. Ive replaced it back then and the voltage was back to 12.1V again.

Now i have a RX6700XT.

The molex male female pins are an issue. They don't use that style on Automotive much anymore.

I've melted molex connectors running Peltier with 136w capability.

And the PSU I have now, melted the 110v power cable to the PSU. That's how much power 2 RX 290X GPUs can suck down running TimeSpy.

Then the efficiency of the PSU was just horrible. Normally that should not happen.

The only PSU i know that can pull 1.2kwh is the Qtec triple fan 650w lol..

My PSU is from 09'. Jonny Gurus review had me buy 2 of them.

I still run with a Antec Truepower 750W of over 9 years of age. Very robust. I suspect your cable was perhaps faulty.

Probably an old cable. It had the proper rating and everything. A friend from another forum suggested there may had been a kink at the one end. Possibly....

I pulled it out of the PSU while it was in the middle of the benchmark. The power strip under the desk was too far away. I could have died!!!

How to cool 13700K on air.

Don't mind the dirtyness please. This is located in the shop.

This Delta fan will take off fingers. It's restricted to only 80% duty cycle at 90c.

Is cooling a Radeon GPU with this fan that bad..?
This fan, is probably one of the most powerful I've ever had.

Back in the day, we'd get the Tornado. A little will wind of pure cfm.

Radeon GPU? I've cooled a couple with it. I have several. About 60 AMD gpus through the years either air or water.

Bad? Nahhh. Only if a finger gets caught in there.

i mean if u like jet engines ... sure ig

what'd worry me the most is its low rpm characteristics, specifically how low it can go b4 it shuts itself off (if it has 0rpm mode at all), and how bad the noise is on uh idle

It's a PWM fan, so it will go motionless and is pretty quiet. Up till about 50% duty cycle, then you can start to hear it.

At 100% it's awful.

I restrict the fan to 80%, not because of noise, but because it's not secured, it'll snap twist and jump right off the heat sink from pure torque.
