God of War Ragnarök Performance Benchmark

If it wasn't for 8 GB VS 16 GB I'd say 3070 Ti is generally a much better purchase (at 8 GB, it's mediocre at best). However, not my point. All other RDNA2 GPUs underperform as much as 6700 XT does but 6800 non-XT gets even worse relative results.
If it wasn't the for the 8gb the 3070ti would be atleast a 100 bucks more for it's 16gb version , which would put it against the 6800XT .

game looks amazing and the benchmarks looks like lots of cards can run the game well. This is a prime example of a game without needing the aid of frame gen or dlss/fsr but good old proper game optimization and the result speaks for itself..

This game runs on the PS4 and apart from the resolution it looks very similar to PS5/PC, it's not that impressive, if anything the performance is on the low side considering that it's effectively still a last gen game.

Because it's using static lighting and it's not open world, so basically everything is baked.

Here aat the intro at the game. All recording done with my RX7900XTX

Im on driver 24.20.11.01 ( Beta ) i think.

Before recording it was at solid 180fps

Performance seems on the low end if you compare to the PS5 version. PS5 runs this at 80-90 fps at 1440p in the scene DF showed. Of course we don't know how settings compare and the area TPU tested might just be heavier.

In "Yggdrasil" area, it's a different story. They need to fix this game in many aspects

According to reports... (and you can google around Forums, YouTube and etc) the DLSS FrameGen can be wonky and not always activate properly, so some times a restart of the game resolves it and it will work. Further more FSR 3.1-Frame Generation works perfectly fine, without any issues.
I also use AMD FG without a problem. DLSS quality with AMD FG on 3080ti works like a charm.

I dont know why TPU didnt test AMD Frame Gen instead while the Nvidia FG wont work to see the VRAM usage in FG mode? I see other games they tested with FG
AMD FG works so well in this game.

There's one or two areas that have terrible performance, but that's not representative of the typical gameplay experience. Picking this map for a benchmark is just fishing for drama

Looking at the screenshot comparisons, I am very ok with the Medium preset at 1600p/1440p. High preset on 1080p? Hell yeah. FrameRate Is Life! Still looks beautiful.

Alex from DF said this was a bug from the review build where that place used excessive amounts of tesselation. AMD limits the amount of tesselation in the drivers so they're effectively "cheating". It's why GameGPU tested another place in the first place. It's pretty funny because the reason AMD limits tesselation is because years ago tons of Nvidia sponsored games used tons of tesselation and GCN was bad at it.

He reported it to the devs and according to him it's fixed now so that chart should be outdated.

TPU use their own scene and usually dunno why always prefer the green team thats pretty strage!

I have problem digesting this part ;)

The game is not available in non PSN countries, and it failed to load even in PSN countries?

The game deserve a 65% steam rating IMO

Exactly, Sony can choke on themselves.

Lol, I can't even read the patch news because "its not available in my region". Time to don the pirate hat, lol.

Nearly 100fps on 4070 Super, such good performance right from launch is rare these days

Runs great! On my 4080 with or without DLAA, around 120 fps, resolution 5120*1440.

Fixed, I had it right in the conclusion though :)

On one of the later maps, or first map? So FG works on AMD?

I'm using the same single system for all these tests, otherwise there's too many variables that cause inconsistencies. I typically end up changing motherboard like one a year or so during normal upgrade cycles. Never had any issues with PCIe slot wear, and I'm doing probably 1000+ slot insertions on each of these boards. The insertion force does get noticeably lower, I mostly notice it right after switching, when the force needed is unexpectedly high.

Bigger issue for the motherboards is scratching near the IO slot area from repeated card insertions. After breaking like 3 boards over the years in the same spot, I put two layers of tape in that area (on boards without armor)

Shouldn't, but it is, and that's part of the reason for these articles to investigate differences between architectures. Either AMD is underperforming or NVIDIA is overperforming. Also look at Intel

Hey Boss, how much space does the game take on installation?

I think that gamegpu site just simulate their numbers don't really trust their results.

OK then, wow!
I must be getting old ...
Not sure if it really is that big a deal these days? Yes, I remember playing games that ran on a single floppy .. which is now the size of a single texture on a single object

I think that gamegpu site just simulate their numbers don't really trust their results.
Yeah afaik they simulate most of the combinations

@Wizzard Is it possible to include the game title in the "Relative GPU performance vs TPU 25-Game Average" graph?
Just tried sharing a few of them on Discord to talk about and it turned out pretty confusing not knowing which belonged to which game.
I just noticed I tagged the wrong @W1zzard
